Union vote has nothing to do with adding vehicle line: Volkswagen

Um, it has more to do with German workers feeling they too deserve a piece of the pie.

No it doesn't - it has to do with the communist/socialist model and political agreements..

Sure, having a socialist mindset would probably make that country more pro union. That also makes the workers of that country more wealthy and less likely having to live off the government.

You seem to be confusing capitalism with grabbing your ankles in front of corporate management. Germany has well paid workers who actually have a real voice in how their business operates. They are one of the strongest economies in the world because they can out compete others in the global marketplace. The guys at Volkswagen are capitalists who recognize the importance of working with employees to make good products.

It's all a lasting symptom of communism/socialism

Yeah, the Russians and Chinese are also pseudo-capitalists to boot.

Since they're socialist they do live off the government.

I always thought people who pay taxes were part of the government? Why wouldn't they prefer to use their taxes to benefit all of society? It's their money to decide.

It's not their money to decide - it's the governments confiscated money to decide.

No, it's the people's money and they decided to put it toward things that would make their life a bit more comfortable.

Yeah just like US tax dollars are the "peoples" money right?

If it's you ****ing money tell them you want it back and see what their response will read.

Many European countries have a different view on what a social democracy is than the US. This country is more into the means tested thing where as some European countries are more into benefiting all of society attitude.

Funny, I never hear ANYONE on the right complain when the government under a GOP president spends money on things THEY like. Wonder why that is.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The works council in Germany were first formed when they were a Monarchy. I hope you aren't stupid enough to claim that Kaiser was a communist.

Yeah, the Russians and Chinese are also pseudo-capitalists to boot.

Oh right, Germany is totally a pseudo-capitalist state. Considering how successful they are economically, I guess that means communism works after all. You just undermined your entire belief system.

The funny thing about people like is you think that you are cheerleaders for capitalism, but in reality your arguments undermine it.

Totally understandable given the fear tactics used:

But the decision is a triumph for Tennessee Republicans like Sen. Bob Corker, who lured Volkswagen to Chattanooga as mayor in the early 2000s. Corker and other Republicans warned workers that the UAW’s presence would irreparably harm the plant, and in recent days he claimed — with little evidence — that Volkswagen would choose not to expand the plant if workers unionized.
“Needless to say, I am thrilled for the employees at Volkswagen and for our community and its future,” Corker said in a brief statement Friday night.
The D.C.-based Center for Worker Freedom, a division of conservative activist Grover Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform, also campaigned against the union drive by blaming unions for Detroit’s economic woes and saying the UAW supports liberal politicians who favor gun control.
In a statement, the UAW blamed the conservative groups and Tennessee Republicans for their stinging defeat, with UAW Region 8 Director Gary Casteel saying that “politically motivated third parties threatened the economic future of this facility and the opportunity for workers to create a successful operating model that would grow jobs in Tennessee.”

Sadly, we'll not get away from the race to the bottom model if we refuse to change the model.

Fair enough but to double down after the company you're wooing says that it isn't so???? That's both being a liar and an idiot. .... Oh, nevermind. You'd be correct to ask the same question again even with the add-on. ;)

Dude got to look good in front of his easily duped constituents, so this is nothing more than grandstanding.

So Detroit was not built on unions?

So Detroit was not built on unions?

Detroit's biggest problem was a rapidly reduced population known as white flight. It's easy to confuse the issue and put fear into the people in TN that the same will happen to them. Norquist is scum.

This is absurd. VW hardly hid the fact that it wanted the union in. Voting "no" was a vote against management.

Lol, perhaps the non union workers can soon be replace by pro union workers. FFT
