Rep. Keith Ellison on ObamaCare-Job Losses: More Time for Americans to Cook Dinner

Re: Rep. Keith Ellison on ObamaCare-Job Losses: More Time for Americans to Cook Dinne

Could be. Lowering stimulated the economy in the past. Ryan was for it before he was against it.

So I have to agree with Ryan? Why? I didn't ask you if it could be, I asked if you thought it was...As usual you leap directly into twisting into a semantic battle....

Re: Rep. Keith Ellison on ObamaCare-Job Losses: More Time for Americans to Cook Dinne

I don't disagree...We already see that...If this thing is supposed to be so great for business why would they do that?

What do you make of the CBO saying there is no evidence of that?

Re: Rep. Keith Ellison on ObamaCare-Job Losses: More Time for Americans to Cook Dinne

There's no evidence of that yet.

There is evidence of that....What you said here is just simply NOT true.

I'm not an expert. But what I read us that it could stimulate the economy. Especially when it is voluntary 30 hours a week, as indicated in the report. You try to steer the comment towards what you want to hear. I try to answer it honestly.

Ryan was just as I love watching partisans do their gymnastics.

Not according to the CBO. I can link it if you want.

Re: Rep. Keith Ellison on ObamaCare-Job Losses: More Time for Americans to Cook Dinne

There's no evidence of that yet. But there is evidence that part time won't likely go over that amount.

Well, heres youre evidence. My employer does that. I have part timers who I supervise who used to work 38 hours avg, at an hourly wage, and did not receive health benefits. I was told when the law came into effect, to specifically keep them under 29 hours average from now on. I dont know how widespread it is, but it does exist.

Those individuals are now making less money as a result, even though employer and employee were willing to work the hours without the benefit.

And mine moved more to full time. Looks like a push to me.

Thats doesnt really help my employees, who are now making less money, even though they were happy with the situtation before. These are people, not statistics.

Helped those who got full time. These are people who needed it.

There is no logical reason for you laying off. But by all means join me in arguing insurance should be removed for employment. We'd spend less and have better access for all with a single payer.

Re: Rep. Keith Ellison on ObamaCare-Job Losses: More Time for Americans to Cook Dinne

Not according to the CBO. I can link it if you want.

According to the CBO report page 117:

"The reduction in CBO’s projections of hours worked
represents a decline in the number of full-time-equivalent
workers of about 2.0 million in 2017, rising to about
2.5 million in 2024.
Although CBO projects that total
employment (and compensation) will increase over the
coming decade, that increase will be smaller than it would
have been in the absence of the ACA."

http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/attachments/45010-Outlook2014.pdf

So, more people will be down graded to part time, and salaries will decline, or at the very least have a smaller increase than without the ACA....And you are saying directly the opposite....That is just disingenuous.

Not due to employers laying off, which is the issue.

The reason we don’t use the term ‘lost jobs’ is there is a critical difference between people who like to work and can’t find a job—or have a job that’s lost for reasons beyond their control—and people who choose to word,” Elmendorf said.

Actually, the CBO report clearly explains that the estimated reduction in labor “stems almost entirely from a net decline in the amount of labor that workers choose to supply, rather than from a net drop in businesses’ demand for labor” and that “there is no compelling evidence that part-time employment has increased as a result of ACA.”

Then either Elmendorf didn't read his own report, or isn't being truthful to congress when he says that...I posted it right from his own report.

Re: Rep. Keith Ellison on ObamaCare-Job Losses: More Time for Americans to Cook Dinne

cbpp operates under an agenda of promoting progressive issues, through questionable data compiling....

Yes, I know, anything you disagree with has an agenda. But the they are not alone.

"The CBO makes it crystal clear that its analysis suggests that U.S. labor supply, not labor demand, would likely be reduced by various provisions of the ACA [Affordable Care Act]. Fewer sellers, not fewer buyers. That means, for openers, that the ACA should raise wages, especially low wages," he explains.

"More germane to the political brouhaha, it also means that the decline in work does not mean jobs being destroyed but rather that some people are choosing to work less — or not at all. That doesn't sound so bad."

Yes he did, he just thought readers were smart enough to understand it.

The CBO report found that Obamacare — through subsidizing health coverage – would reduce the amount of hours workers choose to work, to the equivalent of 2.5 million full-time workers over 10 years. This was widely spun by Republicans as a loss of 2.5 million jobs.

Only in a liberal progressive mind could lower productivity, and less work force participation be a good thing.

Oh, so now we are just dumb if we don't buy into the propaganda eh? What a load of crap.

Like noted earlier, that's the exact same argument made by people opposed to reducing the work week from seven days to five. They were wrong then. The economy thrived. This suggests at least the possibility for you to be wrong now.

You have his testimony. Who hears and calls the guy responsible for it wrong concerning what he reported? Think it through.

Oh you mean cbpp's little cousin? For God's sake man, they are listed on cbpp's website as collaborators....Just because ACORN thinks that they can get away with a quick name change and business as usual, don't try that **** with me Joe....I'm not as dumb as you look.

Yes I know. Everyone, including the CBO, has an agenda. Disagreeing with you proves it. I get that.

from the liberal Forbes:

The nonpartisan Urban Institute decided to find out. It did so by looking at what has happened in Massachusetts, whose health reform law, passed in 2006, is broadly similar. It found no evidence whatever that health care reform, and mandated coverage, killed jobs:

"Who hears and calls the guy responsible for it wrong concerning what he reported?"

You heard the testimony. You got a written account and heard him on video. Yet you call him wrong and you right? It's his report. Who does what you are doing? Think partisan. Some not interested in the truth. Maybe?
