Iran sending warships close to US borders[W:623]

Re: Iran sending warships close to US borders

Not enough to qualify as the largest supplier of terrorists in the world.

Hezbollah is one of the most powerful Islamic terrorist groups in the world.

More powerful than Al Qaeda?

Re: Iran sending warships close to US borders

I'm a member of the unorganized Militia in good standing. I'm pretty sure apdst is also a member of the Militia. Under U.S. Code any male under 64 years of age and a former member of the Regular Army, Regular Navy, Regular Air Force, or Regular Marine Corps is a member of the Militia. When you become an old 64 year old geezer, then it's voluntary.

That's right...we can be called to active duty, at any minute. Unlike our Libbo friends, we would actually answer the call!

Re: Iran sending warships close to US borders

Correct. Probably why i have the ability to be critical/supportive (depending on the issue) of some of Presidents Obamas Policy decisions without resorting to the hateful nonsense that the RW nutjobs around here revert to. The way some talk about him as a person is just disgusting.

Why oh why do they hate America so much.

Well not much has changed since the beginning of time Serenity.....especially when it comes to males and those that were born as gumps and the weak to be taken advantage of. Such as an Obama.....who the Fates lined up and made lucky.

Wonder what any would say about him being picked on, beat up, and treated as the gump putz he was meant to be.....

If he never made that lime-light. Do you think then any would notice.....anything else but that he was just another victim on the Stats sheet?

Re: Iran sending warships close to US borders

But, do they have a reason.

I would say that it's incredible that you're supporting the rights of a rogue, terrorist regime, but it's not.

Of course. In response to our actions in their region. They are acting in the best interest of their state, being a rational actor.

^ You heard it here. No "libbos" in the military.

Re: Iran sending warships close to US borders

Probably so. More organized, more mobile, more political power.

I doubt it. Al Qaeda (and related groups) are a much bigger problem than Hezbollah.

Yeah, I just finished reading the entire Militia Code. It's pretty long. I could find myself being transferred into the active duty U.S. Army by being a veteran. ####, I'm a Marine !

Veterans are stuck in the Militia until they are 64 years of age.

Non vets are only obligated between the ages of 17 to 45 years of age.

Iran can point out one certain incident involving a united states warship as a source of grief between them and the united states. that incident involved the shooting down of iran air flight 655 by the U.S Vincennes.

Iran Air Flight 655 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Iran Air Flight 655 was an Iran Air flight from Tehran, Iran, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, via Bandar Abbas, Iran. On 3 July 1988, at the end of the Iran–Iraq War, the aircraft serving the flight, an Airbus A300 B2-203, was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz by SM-2MR surface-to-air missiles fired from the United States Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes. The aircraft, which had been flying in Iranian airspace over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf on its usual flight path, was destroyed. All 290 on board, including 66 children and 16 crew, died.

What unit were you in? Oh, wait...you weren't in any unit. You've never been down range.

There's not near as much wrong with me, as there is with a phony patriot.

You're delusional. You always have been. You're a prime example of why this country needs to invest in better mental health care for it's elderly.

11B Infantry, 95B Military Police. Middle East three times, Africa once, Central America twice.

Try again.

Re: Iran sending warships close to US borders

Not all threats require a violent response-you got that much right. That said, this isnt the merchant marine, its an openly hostile naval force.

I got it all right, champ. You had to carve away the context of the discussion in order to make your snarky "slightly liberal" comment. We were talking about apdst's irrational comment about killing them, innocent sailors in international waters. If they aren't violating our maritime borders or in engagement range with their weapons systems they aren't a threat. Period.

Are you seriously sticking up for Iran? Do you know what kind of things they do over there to their OWN citizens? Yet, you think that "we" are the bad guys? Good Lord! What's wrong with you? Our young people defending a regime like Iran is quite disturbing.

Re: Iran sending warships close to US borders

Doesn't anyone find it disturbing that we have American citizens who are Iranian sympathizers? Quite bothersome to me.

Re: Iran sending warships close to US borders

Send an alert to Captain Binghamton to ready McHale's Navy at once. I read Peter Sellers will lead the invasion.

Maybe you should try actually living there for a while. Then you can really see how "rational" they are. :lamo You are hilarious!

Are you honestly trying to pass off the mullahs who actually run Iran as rational? They are religious extremists.

Well first there's the 1st. It counts for stuff you don't like, too.

Secondly, it's easy to sympathize with Iran considering our history of screwing with them.

We orchestrated a coup in the '50s and in the '80s traded weapons for hostages while claiming the moral high ground.

How many U.S. civilian airliners has the Iranian navy shot out of the sky?

Iran has all sorts of problems, but that doesn't make us the good guys.

That certainly does not make THEM the good guys, and I hate to tell you but YES, compared to them we are good guys. Maybe you should try living over there too. Lol!

Mmmm-hmmm. Very rational country. Nice guys, those Iranians.

Iran hangs 40 people in two weeks amid surge in executions | Amnesty International

Iran has carried out a total of 40 executions since the beginning of 2014, with at least 33 carried out in the past week alone, said Amnesty International today.

“The spike in the number of executions carried out so far this month in Iran is alarming. The Iranian authorities’ attempts to change their international image are meaningless if at the same time executions continue to increase”, said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Amnesty International’s Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa.

The death penalty is a violation of every human being’s right to life and is a cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment.

“The Iranian authorities must urgently take steps to abolish the death penalty, which has been shown again and again not to have any special deterrent effect on crime,” Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui said.

Since the beginning of 2014, Amnesty International has recorded 21 executions which were officially acknowledged by the Iranian authorities, as well as 19 additional executions reported through reliable sources.

In the week since 9 January 2014 more officially acknowledged executions were carried out in Iran than during the whole month of January 2013.

At least one public execution was carried out on 14 January 2014 in Saveh, Markazi Province, northern Iran, of an individual convicted of murder.

Public executions in Iran are usually carried out using cranes which lift the condemned person by a noose around the neck in front of a crowd of spectators.

The organization is calling on the Iranian authorities to immediately adopt an official moratorium on all executions and commute all death sentences. The Iranian authorities must also end all secrecy surrounding their use of the death penalty.

Most of those executed in Iran had been convicted of alleged drug-related offences. Under international standards, non-lethal crimes such as drugs offences do not meet the threshold of “most serious crimes” to which the death penalty must be restricted. There is also no right to a meaningful appeal for drugs offences under Iran’s Anti-Narcotics Law, contrary to its international obligations to ensure that anyone convicted of a criminal offence has the right to appeal the conviction.

If the kid I was quoting was living in Iran, what do YOU think would happen to him for speaking in such a manner? Yet he has the nerve to refer to them as rational and to the US as irrational? Good God, that's delusional.
