None of that stuff- language, monarchy, regionalism, is given much importance in Canada. By most people, anyway. There's still French separatists in Quebec and Anglophone monarchists and whatnot but most people just don't care much about any of it. It looks odd to Americans but the two languages don't get in the way and the royal family is just a human-interest story on the 6 o'clock news.
Hell, Belgium has three official languages and Switzerland has four and those two are pretty darned efficient societies.
That's why I think it's so weird.
At the same time I think its weird that some in Louisiana speak creole, which isn't really a problem for me because I do understand French, and Creole is similar but it's "gibberish" for the most part...
