Alaska moves another step closer to August marijuana-legalization vote

I've used it before, but not since I was a teenager. I've also drank alcohol, and in my personal experience alcohol makes a person MUCH more messed up and out of control than marijuana does. I can't imagine how much marijuana I would have to smoke to get as screwed up as I would on 5 alcoholic drinks, probably pounds. :lamo

I don't agree, I've seen far too many freakouts from first time smokers or lightweights. Freak outs where they insisted on going to the hospital.

Comparing yourself to an alcoholic is problematic because they have a tolerance. There are people who after 1 hit, are going to have a very bad night. I would NEVER trust a first time smoker behind the wheel, IMO that's worse than drunk.

I'm not saying an alcoholic. I'm saying just your typical alcohol user. AND how many people go to the hospital for alcohol-related ailments as opposed to marijuana-related?

In a poll, 55% of Alaskans are in favor of legalization. The dominos are falling, one by one, folks. Texas is not too far behind either. This week Rick Perry said that he was in favor of decriminalization right here in Texas. Soon we will have plenty of room in our prisons for REAL criminals. Let the trend continue. I'll drink smoke to that.

Article is here.

Colorado is the true test because of how far they've gone with decriminalization. If the State can turn a dollar because of it, other States will start paying attention.

the only comparison or precedent one could mention is 1920s prohibition. Remember how well that worked? Boardwalk Empire anyone? People who want to smoke will do it either way, legal or not. And it's not really that hard to get by. What legalization would do is to allow anyone busy prosecuting innocent pot-smokers to dedicate their valuable time to other causes.

Just to prove my own point ;) - the opinion Americans have about legalization is definitely changing: • Americans on the legalization of marijuana | Survey 2013 , so let's hope change of legislation, not only in Alaska, is imminent!

Lots of people did it when they were kids. I did it. Then one day you grow up.

It's no different that way from alcohol or cigs either.

I outgrew cigarettes, thank God, but still like to drink. Pots been available over the yrs, have partaken, but I'm just not that interested in inhaling smoke it seems. If I liked it, I'd smoke it. Has nothing to do with maturity.
