Obama Nominates Vice Adm. Michael Rogers for NSA Chief

NSA’s Chief Operating Officer Rick Ledgett appointed as new deputy director.....



Vice Adm. Michael S. Rogers is President Barack Obama’s nominee to be the next commander of U.S. Cyber Command and director of the National Security Agency, which would give him the difficult task of protecting both privacy rights and national security if he is confirmed by the Senate.

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced the nomination in a statement on Thursday along with the appointment of NSA’s Chief Operating Officer Rick Ledgett to be its new deputy director. Army Gen. Keith Alexander will retire this spring from his positions as the director of the NSA and head of U.S. Cyber Command. Alexander became director of the NSA in 2005 and assumed an additional position as the chief of U.S. Cyber Command in 2010.

Ledgett has been assessing the possible damage done to security at the NSA following the leaks of classified documents by former agency contractor Edward Snowden. Ledgett said in an interview with CBS in December “it’s worth having a conversation” to consider clemency for Snowden to return to the U.S. if he could ensure that the remainder of the data he took that has not yet been shared. Alexander did not agree with that possibility of amnesty and told CBS it would be like pardoning a hostage taker after he already killed a few hostages.....snip~

To be fair, though, what's the value in appointing a different person to head up the NSA without a clear reversal on the policy of collecting data on Americans? Without that this looks too much like solving Enron's problems by changing its logo.

Hahaha! And I bet you actually believe that too.

Anyway, anything other than disbanding the NSA would fit in the criteria.

It would take an anti - American to run or work for or with the NSA and have any other response than what Snowden (and the hundreds of other whistleblowers that came out before blowing the whistle on criminality became criminal) did. I don't have any specifics about this guy, but I'm sure he's just as criminal as the organization he'll be running.

Do you think we should have waited another couple more months to see if those of the left would actually put up the current breaking news?

This guy looks great on paper, at least as far as qualifications are concerned. Who knows what his attitude towards accountability would be. My worry is that Valerie Jarrett would not opt for him unless she has something on him, to keep him under her thumb.

Image, voice, and just about anything that makes up his genetic makeup. Course myself.....I try not to Judge. But then I do get tired of someone who is always looking to lie after getting caught in other lies. Then it not a question of should I judge.

But one thing is for certain.....can't say Obama has never picked those from the Right before.
