One month on from a skiing accident in the Alps, Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is being kept in a medically-induced coma, his manager has told the BBC.

The former Formula One champion remains in a stable condition - and according to one of Britain's leading neurosurgeons could still make a full recovery.

Spiegel online says they are just beginning to wake him.

very sad ... I pray he makes a full recovery

Well, I read they are starting to reduce the artificially-inducing coma drugs and they will see if he wakes up.

He has been in a coma a LONG time...there is no guarantee that he will come out of it. Let alone come out of it well.

I hope so though.

I'm hopeful for the best for Schumaker, but he has been in an induced coma for a month and I was under the impression that 2 weeks was as long as doctors usually induce the coma. It is feared that any longer can cause more damage. On the bright side, a friend of mine suffered a cerebral aneurysm/stroke and was put in an induced coma for two weeks and with physical therapy, love, healthy habits, and excellent care regained near normal functionality, both mental and physical, in about 5 months. It was wonderful to see and bodes well for Schumaker.
