Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi [W:185]

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

Clearly you missed the analogy to the "demonization" of a group of people.

It doesn't even come CLOSE.

For those who truly call for all rich to have everything taken away, that's wrong and that's in an extreme minority.

For those who say the rich should contribute more in taxes because they have benefited the most from society... you can hardly characterize that as "demonization".

Certainly nothing remotely comparable to the demonization that jews endured under the third reich.

It does a great deal of insult to the people who actually went through the holocaust and what preceded it to suggest this gentlemans comparison is anything but crap.

Substituted in place of poor taste choice

I can not believe that you choose to jump in with both feet, quoting the very thing that should have caused you to rethink your posting of that pic....I would love to unleash just what I think of you at this point, but there are rules.

Go back and actually read the OP article, and accompanying op ed by the man in question. It has nothing to do with taxes. That is just you trying to misrepresent the premise of the thread....So knock it off already.

I might actually get a thread started about me in the place not to be mentioned?

first time for everything :)

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

I don't see the big issue with how he compared it after reading the link.

Just so people know, any bad behavior is likely related to some violation of some well known ethical rules. It is not surprising that if Nazis were doing bad things, they were violating those rules. That he blames progressive demonization of the rich as the first steps in similar characterizations (jews are bad therefore government should do something about it) should not be some big deal.

Yes, everyone using Nazis is a common fallback, and we should invest some time and effort into coming up with some more acceptable yet still well known comparisons. We see it on DP every day too.

Acceptable to whom? Are you suggesting that we have to never again mention the relation to a certain time in history comparable mindsets because the events in total were deplorable? It doesn't make the comparisons any less valid.

They're not even ****ing remotely comparable.

But why stop there? What about every art student who's ever been turned down by an art school? Hitler!

People disagree with you so, no matter how mad you get, or how many times you say it, you're wrong.

You're not making sense either....Are art students as a group being demonized by others for what they do? You just don't get it, and that is fair, but admit it...It's ok, that you can't understand.

The point is in order to score a really, really cheap point you're watering down what made Hitler specifically so terrible, all so you can stretch and contort an analogy into impossible positions. When you do this enough Hitler becomes a humorous internet meme.

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

There's a difference between jealousy and injustice. Only the top 1% who use so much of their leverage from wealth to keep the status quo in their favor are out of line.

No, I am watering down nothing....And your ilk already made Hitler a humorous internet meme with Bush.

Do you work in your own self interests grip?

Criticizing rich people = rounding up and murdering six million Jews.

Sure, nothing watered down about that. You should be ashamed of yourself.

What exactly don't you understand about the build up before the concentration camps, and the murder, and the demonetization that took place before anyone that was killed? It has been explained a few times in the thread...I suggest you go back and re read, then maybe you can discuss the subject intelligently....

Re: Silicon Valley billionaire compares treatment of America's rich to Nazi persecuti

Naturally, though if I had more money than I or my family could spend in several lifetimes hopefully I would be a little more altruistic towards humanity as a whole. These people are the leaders, employers, mover and shakers of the world who should see that it's in their own best interests to get the general populace employed and paid well for their own business models to prosper in the future. They rely 70% on retail sales and if they strip all the money out of the average buyers pockets they slow the very growth and productivity they're reliant on.

actually they are.. considering Alinsky and Obamas tactics
