Man arrested with cache of guns, explosives

The win is standing up for your civil rights....

I wasn't charged with any crime, there was just a "mandatory" one year suspension if you don't blow into their BAC detector... IMO, blowing into a BAC detector is a violation of the Fourth Amendment. I'm not going to sit here and have tyranny committed against me if I have something to say about it.... Furthermore blowing is admitting guilt, which violates the Fifth Amendment (unless a defendant chooses to waive that right)....

It's a win for me and it's a win for civil liberties..... Unless they had a warrant to seize my body fluids - then they have no right telling me to blow into a BAC meter.

I wasn't pulled for suspicion of drunk driving - I was pulled because my turn signal was busted - I merely refused to submit to the BAC test.

If the law was not changed, I would not consider it a win.

How intelligent.

We are in awe.

What is so odd about guns and fireworks?

You do know M80's and larger explosives like dynamite serve a practical purpose???? If you want a tree stump gone, they're perfect for that. You want a hole dug - they're perfect for that... Of course they have their entertainment value on the 4th of July.

Of course being safe when using these small devices is always the most important aspect involved....

Why spend 2 hours trying to remove a tree stump when you get get it done in 20 seconds? of course the idea is to fracture the stump not blow it into small chunks (that does not turn out too well for the surroundings).

If the law was not changed, I would not consider it a win.

The Law should be changed because it's blatantly illegal, and I'm not the only one who refuses BAC tests - many have and many are challenging the law.

A few years back a county next to mine would strap people down and literally steal their blood to test it if they refused to blow - that law was changed when it turned out many who refused the BAC test and refused to have their blood taken were IN FACT NOT intoxicated and merely refused for constitutional and privacy reasons.

Sorry, but I'm not an idiot for going along with tyranny - I'm smart for not letting cops trample on the Bill of Rights....

MANY misunderstand what an implied consent law means, although an officer may ask at any time, to demand it under penalty of License suspension, the law mandates that the person either be arrested for it, then refuse, or other PC grounds. Were you arrested for DUI?

Sort of like requiring welfare recipients to undergo drug testing "to save tax payers money", which in Florida turned out to cost more money than it saved as fewer than 5% of recipients tested positive. For some reason the Republican members of the State House here in Florida turned down a bill that would have mandated drug testing for them. Maybe they were friends with Congressman Trey Radel

How are you quantifying that win for civil liberties? What were the negative consequences for the the police or the state/county? Did a lawyer tell you that blowing is admitting guilt? (I think that's not true but I'll have to look it up. What state?)

Well, whatever they were, as you say...it was worth it to you.

For the record, I don't own a ballistic helmet lol. Just the carrier. If I'm in need of dome frag protection, I'm ****ed anyways and probably should have gotten the **** out of there....then again, I'm not taking mortar fire. I'm just doing 3-gun and own a plate carrier. I train with my buddies, few guys that were mil, we **** around in team movements, shoot copious amounts of ammo, call each other dumb names, get drinks afterwards. We are pretty good though. In the rare case that this place broke down hardcore, I'm comfortable with my abilities, know my limits, know my gear inside and out, and I have a mean dark pair of shades. All this being said....a pro-2A progressive? Maybe not pro-2A, but a gun owning progressive? That's like....a caucasian member of the BPP. Just doesn't make any sense.

I'd hope Vickers would tell his students to go to more than one school, many very experienced senior instructors out there, many different POV.

But you don't know your gear inside and out. If you don't practice the scenario you so worry about you are not prepared. (it is like the drunk searching for his keys where the light is good and not where he lost them) Many train when the weather is good, the routine, well it is a routine. Play 'army' and then go get drunk... not realistic, more like paintball with no feedback.

Now are you wearing that plate carrier, ahhhh with the plate, when you 3 gun? At first you claimed to do that and now it sounds like you are backing off of that.

Now while you and your buddies are playing army in good weather and until it ain't fun anymore- the SWAT/High risk teams run their drills with guys like you in mind. They will know the layout of your house, the dog, the hallway... just saying for every time a wag can point to where officers are taking by surprise a dozen other times the bad guy goes down fast and hard.

Keep believing you can gear-up from a sound sleep to fighting mode before the team is ontop of you- fact is you are clueless if you can even put the vest on in any reasonable time from a dead sleep. I wasn't just in the military, I was a grunt. We didn't train in nice weather, run a drill a few times and then hit the beer, we drilled in the heat, the rain, snow, high wind and breathless air days, dead of night. We drilled over and over for hours at a time, and in a wide variety of terrain, towns, hooches and from a dead sleep or while dead on our feet.

Believe this if nothing else I have posted- until you have tried to run your little drill while dog assed tired and from a dead sleep you are living in a fantasy world.

All that to say you may think you know your limitations and how it will go down, but quite frankly from all you posted I'm very sure you don't.

Now not only am I a progressive firearm owner, I am a combat vet with a few scars that told me very early in life I don't have a big S on my chest.

I maybe as rare as a black Tea Party supporter, how some ever, you are quite common in the never hit a lick, but quite vocal what you can/will do if the cops ever came after you category.... :2wave:

Vickers is the standard, a ton of schools build their entire curriculum off of his stuff.

We aren't fair weather weekend warriors.

Never said I wore it while shooting 3 gun....explicitly said I keep it fast and light. When we train, or play "army" as you say, everyone wears carriers, or whatever they would wear in some highly unlikely dire situation. When I say training, I mean training. When I say 3-gun, I wear my teams shirt, belt rig...I don't know anyone that shoots serious 3-gun that wears any carriers. It would be weird.

Now while you and your buddies are playing army in good weather and until it ain't fun anymore- the SWAT/High risk teams run their drills with guys like you in mind. Most bad guys shoot their guns sideways and wear jeans 1000 sizes too big.

When did I say I was a fair weather guy? 3-gun stops in the northeast in late fall....we have this thing called winter. Doesn't mean we don't shoot throughout the rest of the year...but there's no competitive outdoor shooting.

Believe this if nothing else I have posted- until you have tried to run your little drill while dog assed tired and from a dead sleep you are living in a fantasy world.

Lol, throw me on a course with one of these elite HSLD 30 lbs overweight "operators" I see that claim swat..toss a timer over our heads. We'll see who runs the course quicker.

I don't claim to have a big S on my chest either. What branch?

I think you have me confused for a high speed low drag mall ninja. :2wave:

So....good job, cops?

And a week later, a retired cop shoots a guy in a movie theater for the heinous crime of texting and/or throwing popcorn. I am so reminded of The Lucifer Effect by Zimbardo. :(

I know Illinois criminal law...

Had I been drunk and had I blown I would have probably lost my license for 3 years or had some stupid device hooked up to my car that would require me to blow before I could start it - not to mention I would have had 2-3k in fines instead of a 200 dollar "reinstatement fee."

I'm no dummy....

It's certainly a win for me and patriots like me...

Let me tell you something - in Illinois if you get pulled over and you blow anything over .04 (yes .04) they will charge you with DUI...

Ironically the cops can actually show up to work, drive their car etc... with a BAC of .06 (in some states it's .10) - yeah it's that union bull**** at work - yet again.

Soooooo, were you drinking or not? Did they charge you with DUI or not?

And I still did not see where you wrote what the 'win' was for 'patriots like you.'

However it "sounds like" you had been drinking and knew that the penalty for not complying would be less than the penalty for being found guilty.
