Liz Cheney is ending her campaign to be the next senator from Wyoming, dropping her primary challenge to Republican incumbent Mike Enzi. The daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, in a written statement released Monday morning, cited health issues in the family.
"Serious health issues have recently arisen in our family, and under the circumstances, I have decided to discontinue my campaign," she said. "My children and their futures were the motivation for our campaign and their health and well-being will always be my overriding priority. ... Though this campaign stops today, my commitment to keep fighting with you and your families for the fundamental values that have made this nation and Wyoming great will never stop."

I hope her and her family is ok, but regardless of the reason, it is now Enzi. Thoughts?

it is now Enzi. Thoughts?

You ask for thoughts on Enzi?
He can now stop acting foolishly tacking to the TEA.
Get back to being a "normal" GOP senator, unlike his fellow Wyoming hack Sen. Barasso .

Oh, ok, so the only good GOP'er is one that lets progressives do as they wish?

I have a feeling that there's more to it than health issues. Maybe money, but the whole thing doesn't seem like it was well run anyway. Maybe Dad convinced her that it was too important to keep the seat Republican than to have an interneicine fight? Who knows.

I hope her family is OK, but I'm not totally buying it as the only reason.

His job is not in danger.
Her fathers health has been in bad shape for years

Did I say that?
You asked for thoughts on Enzi.
I praised him.
One out of two isn't bad in a RED state.

Is progress--ive your go-to slam word ?

Thank you Jesus, may the Cheney's RIP.

A good GOP'er, or Democrat for that matter, is one that realizes they were sent to do a job. And that job is to govern, not to hold Americans hostage to their ideological fits.

Very few in Congress are doing that these days, in fact I'd say the leadership of both houses have not done their jobs. Leading from behind isn't limited to Obama.

It will be hard for the House to do anything with 97 scheduled work days before the elections.
Dems are simply too afraid of Can'tor and they allow his sabotage to fly under the radar.

Yeah.....her campaign was going nowhere.
The typical "I'm quitting to spend more time with my family..." excuse doesn't usually include health issues.
Hopefully, her little ones are OK.

Liz Cheney is a smart woman - not surprising, with two very intelligent and well spoken parents. I wish her well in whatever she chooses to pursue going forward - I believe she would have been a strong voice for conservatives and women had she succeeded in her Senate run.

I hope her immediate and extended family is okay - health and family are far more important than politics.

Yeah, I think it was the standard opt out too...And also hope everything is ok.

I read a couple of articles on Cheney ending her campaign. Neither one said anything about who was ill in her family. Wish them well. I didn't quite get why Liz was trying to unseat Enzi. I don't think he qualifies as an honest to goodness RINO. In an article it stated " American Conservative Union (which hosts CPAC in March) rated Enzi at 92.73% for 2012, 89% in 2011, and 96% in 2010. " That looks pretty conservative to me.

Enzi was absolutely demolishing her in early polling. She may have hung around if she was polling better.

Those are RINO numbers, as far as the real nutbars are concerned.

Yeah, I don't think she had a chance in unseating him.

Not at all. That is just your false characterization of your political opponents.

She was behind by like 30 points. I'd venture to bet that that had something to do with it.

Liz Cheney drops US Senate bid. What happened?

Surveys showed she was 20 to 30 percentage points down, and not gaining.

Good. She can pack her carpet bags and move back to Virginia where she's from.

Liz always seemed like a straight shooter and I am sorry to hear of health problems in her family.

Yeah but we always think people that agree with us are straight shooters. But you never know, the guy that disagrees with us could be a better shot, from time to time.

In my case, I am a democrat and would not have voted for here if I lived in her state. My comments were only that I thought she was a straight shooter and was a decent person even though here political views are not mine.

I do hope the health issues in the family are positively resolved.

By that logic McAwful should get the Hell put of VA. And Hillary should have never been senator from NY. But I know, it's ok when liberals do it.

Give me a break.
