Rodman's ex-NBA Team arrives in NKorea for Game

Yes, seriously. The impact of such a thing would be huge. Food that's made to be quick and tasty. An informal seating set-up. All the diners being equal..... massive!

Yeah, not to mention having food of the beans and paste. Although Lil Kim kind of wants some super structures in NK now.

N. Korea's Kim vows to build 'world-class' structures

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un on Wednesday called for the construction of "world-class" structures, praising the speedy completion of his pet ski resort project.

"The construction sector should set up world-class structures ... and build many other structures that could contribute to improving the people's living conditions," Kim said in a New Year message broadcast on state TV.

He praised soldiers and builders for setting up "numerous monumental structures" including the Masik Pass Ski Resort in a short period.....snip~

If they win, will dear leader feel Rodman embarrassed North Korea?

Are they playing against North Koreans? I mean short people?

I thought they would divide up themselves and play with each other.

Maybe Rodman and his team are secret CIA agents and they're going to overthrow the government, kill kim jong un and his generals and bring democracy!

You just got them all killed and fed to hungry dogs.

It really isn't that far fetched... it certainly wouldn't be the first time the CIA tries crazy **** like this.

I don't think Rodman is capable of keeping his mouth shut about something like that.

He would be bragging who he is working for.

Mornin' Ted. Btw.....

I'm all for them getting a Taco Bell over there.....Just sayin.

I would be afraid of what kind of meat they would be serving.

Could be as bad here!

Well.....I didn't think Lil Kim would let the meat go to the population. Red meat attributes to aggression and he can't have that from the people.

You think horse meat is as bad as people being fed to dogs and them the dogs being made into tacos?

I am in Mexico and have the displeasure of seeing the Taco Bell dog everywhere I go. My friend has 9 of the little ****s.

Funny enough, we don't have Taco Bell, but it would probably do well here.

No, of course not, just being funny. And, not insinuating Taco Bell here is using horse meat. I don't know why we've had two slaughter houses of late convert to horse, and don't really want to ask.

They have used horse meat n dog and cat food for decades.

If they start using it in food for humans I am sure we will know about it.

It is almost impossible to keep a secret these days.

The U.S. players are to compete in an exhibition game against a North Korean team on Wednesday, Kim's birthday.

"Somehow we have to get along, and no matter what disagreements or what discrepancy we have in life," Rodman said. "It's like saying: Why do we have the Olympics? When everyone comes together in the Olympics, there's no problems. That's what I'm doing. That's all I'm doing.".....snip~

Yep that's all he is doing.....except he and his team aren't good enough to play in the Olympics anymore. As far as I know.....NKorea isn't boycotting the games either.

The key is for people to be able to afford the food.

I fear that NK people would not be able to afford restaurant food, even cheaper fast food.

Sounds like a bunch of ex-NBA players are desperate for money or attention or both.

This isn't diplomacy...this is sad, IMO.

Dennis says that North Korea is not that bad. Of course the cities he played in the most were Detroit and Chicago.

I can think of no one more qualified to represent themselve's as a sports ambassador from the United States to North Korea.

Dennis Rodman arrived in North Korea on Monday with a team of former NBA players for an exhibition game on Kim Jong Un's birthday, after saying he wants to show that North Korea isn't so bad.

The flamboyant Hall of Famer arrived in the North Korean capital from Beijing with a squad of a dozen former basketball stars including Vin Baker and Cliff Robinson in what Rodman calls "basketball diplomacy," although U.S. officials have criticized his efforts.

"It's about trying to connect two countries together in the world, to let people know that: Do you know what? Not every country in the world is that bad, especially North Korea," Rodman told The Associated Press in an interview outside his Beijing hotel before his flight to North Korea.....snip~

Do you think Rodman and these guys know what Lil Kim did to his Uncle? I am surprised he got these guys to go over there with him. Rodman says not every country in the world is that bad. Not even NKorea.

Turns out that the feeding the uncle to ravenous dogs was a satirical piece that another news company picked up and ran as truth. Not defending NK or anything but the truth is the truth.

... To be honest, I'm starting to doubt that this is just for show. There may actually be a point to all of this. There's no way Rodman's wouldn't have been shown a few of the interviews by NK defectors when he came back. There's no way this guy is that ****ing nuts.

Never, never, never underestimate the ability of deluded and bankrupt celebrity to latch on to whatever they can to stay relevant and pay the bills. Or the power of general ignorance in tandem with stubbornness. I completely believe he is that nuts.

Hopefully they are being well paid for the event because it has nothing to do with diplomacy.

I think it would if Rodman was actually having an impact on Kim; getting him to soften his stances, be more supportive of human rights, helping him become more pro-US but it doesn't seem to be happening.

I don't think its about money. I think Rodman genuinely sees Kim as a friend. He's probably treated like a king when he's there, a room full of pretty girls to fulfill his every whim and Kim is probably a genuine fan of his. I think I recall hearing Kim was a college student in Switzerland when the Chicago Bulls where making history and the whole world including Kim was captivated by Jordan, Pippen and Rodman.

QFT

Sounds like the rest of the 'squad' are starting to pale from the negative press and Rodman's inability to keep his mouth shut.

Morons.

I saw snippets from a CNN interview today. Good lord, his teammates did everything but shove a gag in his mouth, but nothing worked. When asked about the American NK is holding prisoner, Rodman flew into a rage. "Do you know what he DID?? DO YOU??? Do you know what that guy DID???"

To which, the interviewer calmly replied, "No, I don't, because no charges have ever been filed against him. Do YOU know what he did?"

About that time, the teammate next to him leaped in and changed the subject.

Rodman is a total squirrel, a narcissistic diva who would publicly dissect his own mother with a red-hot scalpel if he got paid for it in cash and international relevance.

I don't think it's him being a "diva" or a jerk ... I honestly think he's seriously mentally ill.

That would have been covered by my "total squirrel" observation! :2razz:
