Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet. [W:38:54]

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

Most 'freedom of speech' things are not that. She won't have the government waiting to arrest her when she gets back home. However embarrassing your company can have you fired before the smirk leaves your face.

Way I think this is like going to the coffee shop here in SW Oklahoma. White folks say some of THE MOST ignorant things when they think it is 'just among us'...

Given the ignorant things people post on facebook, I am beginning to think that media source turns everyone into silly teens. Flash your boobs or show your ass- seems so many folks just don't get it.... Well this lady probably just did... say that 'joke' among your white friends.... not across the interwebz....

I don't think you quite got the point of my post.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

You'te advocating physical violence?

Not at all. My point is that people who cry "I can sat whatever I want to whomever and wherever, first amendment etc" shouldn't be shocked when they say the wrong thing to the wrong person and that person might clock them.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

Moderator's Warning:
Just because I make a directed warning towards other posters does not mean that you can do the same thing they were doing. Directed warnings, while mainly directed at who they are being directed at is still a reminder for the rest of the folks to chill out. I'd suggest you take this to heart.
Run along now. Stormfront is missing your clever wit.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

Don't be jealous. She will probably get another job by weeks end.

Yeah, prolly with Fox News. Now THAT'S funny.

Yea, hahahahahahaha. Whatever Chitown boy.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

We also don't act upon all of our urges. Another part of the human condition.

Can we bring this back to context of the woman's situation or can we not because you're incapable of holding a debate with someone a 5th of your age?

Keep reading Webster, you may find out a few things about life.

There's an alarming lack of common sense these days and an alarming number of people in support of lacking common sense.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

OH, they can fire her. Its just a BS firing.
Maybe you would like to propose a law that dictates how private companies handle their employees?

So, you ARE advocating the use of physical violence to suppress free speech?

No. I'm saying that one doesn't know how someone is going to react on the street to an offensive comment. Therefore it is best to think before making derogatory and offensive comments to people in public and on the street.

Sure that their firing practices align with the 1A, as long as the speech in question is not a deliberate attempt to hurt the company.

Nice deflect, but if someone says "something on the street" that is not to your liking. Its OK to smack them around.

No deflect. Common sense says one should think before they speak. I don't condone violence. An adult walks away. However not everyone shows restraint. You never know what someone on the street is going to do, therefore it is better to treat others as you yourself expect to be treated. I also don't find humor at the expense of minorities, the impoverished and disenfranchised. It's not funny and shows a serious lack of character and maturity.

The person getting offended might want to think about the same thing before he starts some ****; he might get some lead in his ass.

That's a two way street. It's best to treat others with respect all around.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

The funny part was that the Sacco **** got on a flight to South Africa soon after the tweet, but didn't find out she was fired till she got there! Presumably she'll have to pay her own way back.

With each Right, comes responsibility.

Yes, I believe in Free Speech, and will protect someone's right to exercise their right. However, in exercising their right, they must also take responsibility for the results of exercising that right.

A little thought for speaking in general: Is what I am about to say going to cause more harm then good?

That's not what the Constitution says.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

Gee, how in the world did the world survive with the likes of Andrew Dice Clay, George Carlin, Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, early Nippsy Russell, early Eddie Murphy. People making all kinds of jokes about everything, every body, every religions, every color, every race.

That was their day job and we knew them by their ahhhh humor, but even they took heat from time to time by what they said. I remember most of them from back in the day and lots of folks back then were thin skinned over certain issues.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

I don't think you quite got the point of my post.

Perhaps but then again some folks have been 'thin-skinned' over certain issues from back when I was a young june bug. Ain't nothin new

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

The Constitution doesn't say a lot of things. What in particular were you applying that statement to?

I'm talking about free speech.
