Fox News Channel maintained its grip on the cable-news network ratings prize in 2013, drawing more viewers than the combined averages of CNN, MSNBC and HLN.It was a down year in terms of overall audience, as every newsie but HLN showed declines from their Presidential Election-driven tallies of 2012.

According to Nielsen data through Dec. 8, Fox News Channel averaged 1.774 million viewers in primetime (down 13% from 2012) and 297,000 adults 25-54 (down 30%). It was followed by MSNBC with 645,000 viewers and 203,000 adults 25-54 (down 29% in both); CNN with 578,000 (down 15%) and 187,000 adults 25-54 (down 16%); and HLN with 403,000 total viewer (up 21%) and 142,000 in the demo (up 27%).

JFC, less than 1% of Americans watch FOX news and its climax time.

Interesting how the trend continues. I find Fox to be the best of the named channels.

I think the credibility of MSNBC and CNN isnt great this year either.

Who would expect anything else from a partisan neo-con conservative.

Nobody is appealing to popularity. Its just an interesting and consistent trend. Its also interesting that until 2000 or so there was no center-right leaning news network, and yet a few years later here we are.

Why do you think that is?

America is dying.

Notice a trend? Liberal voters....don't watch the news. Most are politically clueless. Epitome of low information.

Cable news is little more than political porn. Most liberals don't get their information from that crap.

If you are getting your news from a cable political porn network, it is you who is "low information."

I think all major, American tv news channels are garbage.

Filled with biased individuals whose abilities as news people are so next to useless it boggles the mind.

Anyone that gets their news mostly from television is one ignorant person about the world, imo.

So a lot of low information voters watch Fox News? Tell me something I don't know.

Maybe they watch Fox for comedic reasons, because there is a lot of unintentionally hilarious stuff on Fox.

They know all that they need to know: who has the money, who needs the money and that gov't can make the transfer happen. ;)

Tell me again how they are not main steam media?

I don't watch the news channels during prime time, I do during the day when the news is on. I switch back and forth between Fox and CNN depending when the commercials are on. If both have a commercial at the same time then it is ESPN for a few minutes and then back to the news.

I still havent decided who has better commercials, Fox News or CNN. It's still a toss up but I'm leaning towards Fox News because they run Henry Repeating Rifles commercials.

MSNBC is nothing but a 24/7 commercial for the Obama White House and our prisons.

Oh I absolutely don't. It's entertainment more than anything.

They, however, don't watch/read/listen to anything. They vote "D", typically 'because I like him'/'he's a good guy'/'he's electable' The left is teeming with brilliance in the average voter ranks :largest sarcasm reader in history flashing over this post:

Oh look, more assumptions that are wrong.

Hahaha. I live in MA, liberal social experiment numero uno in the U.S. (albeit a failed one). I assure you...the average voter here is a simpleton at best. They vote 'D'. Ask them about fiscal policy/foreign policy/anything in depth politically....and the eyes glaze over. "Well he's out to help the little guy, and I like him he's electable, great speaker". This is your average liberal voter here. These people are not blessed with overwhelming mental prowess, nor the desire to understand the system. The sheeple roll deep here.

And yet they probably have more mental prowess than your average conservative, especially a conservative rube from the south.

I could have repeated everything you just stated (and have, essentially), however, CA is liberal social experiment numero uno. ;)

I'd put a fair amount of them right on the same eye level, however I believe the politically involved cons are sharp people.

This is why I love being a Libertarian. By default, you know at the very least I read quite a bit. Lightyears ahead of the mouth breathers voting R and D like good little boys and girls ;)

Whatever, they are all the same. Power power power power.

You win. Cali blows. Well, at least you have good surf.

I don't necessarily disagree

And that's a complete load of crap.

The VAST majority of voters vote party line. Don't even TRY to claim that isn't true.
