The White House is not rushing to claim President Obama's latest award: Lie of the year.
White House spokesman Jay Carney said Friday the administration is focused on putting its health care plan in place; he declined to discuss the declaration by the fact-checking website PolitiFact of its annual "lie of the year:" President Obama's past claim that if "if you like your health care plan, you can keep it."

In its analysis of Obama's "catchy" statement -- "if you like your health care plan, you can keep it" -- PolitiFact reported that the promise was impossible to keep:

"So this fall, as cancellation letters were going out to approximately 4 million Americans, the public realized Obama's breezy assurances were wrong.

White House ignores 'lie of the year' award

Well, looky here...Could the press be waking up and starting to do its job? Or was this lie just too big to ignore?

I knew this one would embarrass the White house but it was so far from a White lie.

It was just too big to ignore, and making them look like the fools that they are. They most likely still feel the same about the issue, but they also need to try and salvage the little credibility that most of them have.

Of course the White House is going to ignore this dubious award. If they give it any attention, they just draw the public's eyes to it far more than if they ignored it.

It's be interesting to see Carney's reaction if one of the White House Press Corps brought this up as a question to him. Probably swift and violent retribution of some sort, but that's just my guess.

Why the majority of the media is ignoring this? Depends on which media I guess. The Biased Lame Stream Media won't report on this because they are actively complicit in protecting this President from any bad press exposure. This includes which stories they report on and which they don't as well as which stories are highlighted, front page above the fold, and which are relegated to the back pages and essentially covered but buried.

Other news outlets have spent a fair amount of reporting on the obvious presidential lies that my guess is they are now starting to be de-emphasized their coverage of it.

Unfortunately the Media tends to do this for all presidents.

Of course, I expect all politicians to draw attention to their own lies.

"Lets review where I made an ass of myself...."

Maybe like an old-school slideshow

It amazes me how people still believe in the myth of the "liberal media". The media has raked President Obama over the coals for the past several years when it's been monetarily beneficial to do so.

It's not a liberal media, it's a sensationalistic media and they cover what makes money.

What if we don't like our president, can we discard him?

Absolutely, but since he was just re-elected last year, you'll have to wait three years before doing so.

Didn't seem to notice this during the Bush administration.

In Sunday’s New York Times, John Tierney examined the delicate balancing act administrations face when throwing a lavish inauguration celebration against the backdrop of unsettling world events. Tierney wrote that inaugurations “become even trickier during times of war, particularly when television images of dancers in black tie can be instantly juxtaposed with soldiers in body armor.”

Tierney must be confusing the D.C. press corps as it might be expected to function — posing uncomfortable questions to those in power — with the press corps that exists in Washington today. Because the notion that the television networks or 24-hour news channels would spend their inauguration coverage contrasting the scenes of wealthy corporate donors toasting the president while young soldiers and middle-aged Guardsmen battle in Iraq is wildly naive. During the nearly 24 months of war coverage of Iraq, many American news outlets have remained steadfastly allergic to relaying disturbing images of war, particularly anything that shows Americans being wounded or killed. So the idea that broadcast journalists would use this celebration, of all things, as a time to press President Bush on Iraq simply does not reflect the modus operandi of today’s mainstream media.

Next lie up.....and for 2014 and the one the Obama team is worried about Big time. You can Keep your doctor, along with.....Are you covered even though you signed the dotted line.

Was it a lie or simply omission of specific information. You know, "You can keep your insurance if...."

I guess it hinges on that two-letter word. This is not a case of it depends on your definition of is, but whether or not forgetting to add in the word "if" makes that much of a difference.

It was a BIG lie. Period.

I know, he got confused....He said "period" and meant to say "if"? hahahahaa....You sound like the Obama liar Emmanuel here.....He said "period"....Good grief....Just admit he lied.

More egg on face SNAFU than bold-faced, IMO. Knowing this bunch, they simply never did the homework and thus did not take into account the millions who had inadequate coverage. It's not like that would be out of their pattern of behaviour.

Yeah, like Ezekiel Emmanuel on Fox trying to spin that it wasn't a lie because you could "keep your doctor, if you want to pay more"..... LOL! What? Are you kidding? Pay more? Liar n chief Obama also said that this law would save people $2500 per year! Did they forget that too?

If it was Hillary and Bill, I'd agree they lied. But, Obama isn't detail oriented enough to know what the fine print in what the hell he said really meant. You doubt this?

Nope, this was bold faced....As demonstrated with an article presenting the fight that went on in the WH between the political side, and the non policy side....Political won out....I am shocked!!!!

No, I think he is calculated....You all tried to say that he was possibly the smartest President in history, now you want to conveniently paint him as a bumble brain? I don't think so.

Is a car salesman lying when he promises you that the dealer will provide you a lifetime of free oil changes but the dealership closes down three months later?

Even if rumors swirled that the place was going broke, the salesman can always say he's not an accountant, and thus had no idea the place was going out of business. Same thing here. Obama simply didn't pay attention to detail and spewed out promises like he always does.
