Obama: Flags To Be Flown At Half-Staff In Honor Of Nelson Mandela [W:382]

That's interesting. So you hate Nelson Mandela because of the North Koreans?

In all seriousness, I get what you're saying. Mandela was a communist, and I don't deny that. But you must see that he wasn't supporting the Soviet Union. And also, he saw that he was wrong obviously, else there would be a communist dictatorship in South Africa right now.

Where do you get the idea I "hate Nelson Mendela" ?

Mendela is no hero of mine. He has to much blood on his hands.

Rush Limbaugh hits Mandela-Obama link - Mackenzie Weinger - POLITICO.com

Thirty percent of this voting USA believes everything this hate-mongering POS says..
During John Adams time, he would have spent the whole term in jail for Sedition, as with WW One .
To be fair to Rush, and not that he particularly deserves it, he has been overall praising Mandela. Of course, he's using his praise of Mandela to blast U.S. civil rights leaders and Obama, which is par for the course.

In all likelihood I'm younger than you.

And? Stuff from 24 years ago is still outdated, especially regarding information.

You're a vet, aren't you? When you were in Vietnam, wasn't up to date intel key to sorties? Or did you take off just assuming nothing had changed since the French had been there?

They say that the United States failed to look at Vietnams pass and didn't comprehend the Vietnamese history, culture and customs.

The blood of a hundred million people right?

Martinez was a token woman Hispanic to speak at the convention..
She is more liberal than Christie and took the Medicaid extension, a No-No..
As far as I know, Gov. Pence is clean and very conservative, fair and balanced..
Twelve years in the House and term-limited after next year's reelection .
If I were a Republican and got to pick the VP for Christie it would be Susana Martinez of New Mexico.

The Prime Minister of Australia has directed that flags will not be lowered until the day of Nelson Mandela's official memorial and they will then be done so as a mark of respect.

How do you booby trap posters?

Wires, masked by dirt or painted over. The bomb is on the ground, usually on the other side of the lamppost or in a paper bag. "Coincidentally" also the signature of Soviet-monitored guerillas in Asia and Latin America. Cheap and effective, Kalashnikov-style.

There weren't a hundred million tires in South Africa to go around to be used for necklaces.

Would it be safe to say that around 99% of those murdered by the communist terrorist (ANC) were black Africans ?

Regardless, I like Martinez. I think Christie would deliver NJ, perhaps Conn and have a good shot at Penn and Martinez would deliver NM and perhaps Colorado. As a numbers man, I am just looking at the numbers, like in electoral votes.

And Pence would secure Ohio and give Christie a great shot at North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, and Wisconsin..
Illinois and Iowa are certainly within Christie's reach..As you know, I think it will be a blow-out..
I look forward to Christie spanking Cantor and clipping his wings .

I would never have pegged you as a pacifist

Good to see all four Congressional leaders appear together..
Hopefully this feeling can continue into them working together..
As always, their comments/posts make DP look like a choir boys..Glad we have moderation .

I don't see Christie making it through a primary. He's just too liberal. And someone with his views on gun control, I wouldn't vote for him in a hundred years. And you'll find a lot of Republicans are like that.

Perotista and I get off the rails sometimes with our politician talk..It's usually my fault..
I'll get a thread going someday on Christie..The Green Papers show how difficult it will be for anyone but Christie to win..

It's the same here. For the most part, our two major political parties are generally bitching and whining at each other and go out of their way to be stubborn, unreasonable and difficult, rarely conceding an inch. It was refreshing yesterday to see them all come together as one to declare their memories, admiration, respect and heartfelt support for Nelson Mandela.

Madiba spent years believing and teaching a divided nation that they can come together. He was a unifier in life and he clearly still is in death.

We'll see linc, right now I am concentrating on 2014. Now how about Clinton, if she is the Democratic nominee who should be her VP? I originally thought about Warner of VA, but I don't think they would go the senate route as of today, I see either a 51-49 Dem or a 50-50 split after next years senate races. The Democrats probably won't want to go that route. So we would be looking at governors. Hickenlooper comes to mind and would keep Colorado dem even if Christie was the GOP nominee. But that is where I fall short as the rest of the Democratic Governors are from solid Democratic states and wouldn't really enhance the ticket. Then a wild hair came up, maybe Evan Bayh of Indiana. He is still popular there and would give the dems a good chance at Indiana. Or perhaps if Charlie Crist wins in Florida? Any ideas?

It would be nice to see Mandela's death as a teachable moment..
Apparently, there are some grievances from the right wing that need to receive a fair discussion..
As you said, not right now..
President Lincoln has had worse things said about him than Nelson Mandela on this forum..

Hickenlooper and Udall still have short leads in Colorado but both are slipping in popularity..
Frankly, I can't imagine any Democrat worth his/her salt wanting to play third fiddle to both Clintons..
As for President, I have a hunch on Gov. O'Malley from Maryland..
I'm at a loss for VP, which is why I think it is a done deal for CC..

Since this division seems to be world-wide with free Nations and growing, I don't think we should look any further than the internet and all of the over-the-top web-sites..
It was refreshing yesterday to see them all come together as one to declare their memories, admiration, respect and heartfelt support for Nelson Mandela.
I am happy that Mr. Mandela was able to hang on until this Christmas season..We have so much to be thankful for with our freedom..
Madiba spent years believing and teaching a divided nation that they can come together. He was a unifier in life and he clearly still is in death.
Most people seem struck by how Nelson Mandela came out of prison and preached non-violence and prevented a Civil war .
