"Peace for Our Time" as President Obama throws Japan under the bus and appeases China.

Remember not to long ago when America was a "Super Power" ?

>"Top Obama administration and Pentagon officials signaled a willingness to temporarily accept China's new, controversial air defense identification zone on Wednesday. Those officials expressed disapproval for the way in which the Asian power has flexed its muscles, and cautioned China not to implement the zone. But they also carved out wiggle room in which the United States and China ultimately could find common ground on the issue, indicating that they may be willing to live with the zone for now -- as long as China backs off its demand that all aircraft traveling through it check in first.

"It wasn't the declaration of the ADIZ that actually was destabilizing," said Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, America's highest-ranking military officer. "It was their assertion that they would cause all aircraft entering the ADIZ to report regardless of whether they were intending to enter into the sovereign airspace of China. And that is destabilizing."

That's a change from just a few days ago, when U.S. Vice President :laughat: Joe Biden demanded that China take back its declaration of the zone. And it's another demonstration that China's recent decisions have forced the United States to tread carefully. On Wednesday, Biden met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing for more than five hours, according to a senior administration official. In brief public remarks midway through the marathon session, Biden didn't mention the air defense zone at all..."<

Oh you guys and your misleading bull****. ...

Seems the truth is China is giving on the one thing we wanted it to immediately and then talks will ensue..

The US is trying to placate the Chinese, but not legitimaize it (ADIZ)? Talk about "wiggle room"; yes it is, and it has a lot of reasons
the old nationlaist feelings, the explosive growth of China.

Still; this is kowtowing to Chinese military power, the ADIZ is a territorial grab at minimum, resource, and regional power struggle in larger venues.

No reason at all -none - to legitimize it -especially over top the Japanese.
Whom (some at least) wants to militarize again - this gives them a reason to do so.

Diplomacy is never bad. Sorry you think it is.

The dead of WWII are calling, they beg to differ.
If I recall correctly it even started with diplomacy, the diplomacy simply didn't take. Being only one week and no diplomacy attempted yet, I don't think the analogy is at all valid. But you are prone to hysteria and hype.

Not in the least. Diplomacy is great if you have leverage. When you have nothing, you get walked all over. Obama's got a 5 year track record of getting walked all over.

Perhaps owing China over $1 trillion, depending on their trade and their approval of any Iran/North Korea deal plays into this. Things are never as simple as they may appear.

You know that's a good point about owing China so much money. Hard to argue with the bank that holds your mortgage.

It sure would be nice to have an argument with China, cut off relations and drop that debt. China would fragment without a shot fired.

China is like the Gorilla in the room in American Asian foreign policy anymore. This is blatant appeasement and I fear we made a mistake in semi-allowing the Chinese to illegally claim this airspace and the whole Iran nuclear deal is another beast in its self. Regan sums this up pretty much.

Too true.

OTOH, we OWE them money and they might want it back.

So, hopefully, this can be resolved without a nuclear war. It's not wise to fight with the big kids. ****, we can't even beat the Afghans who use muskets and have zero aircraft. Now, imagine fighting China.

Japan threw us under the bus in WW2. So, I like them but not enough to die for.

So you are in the appeasement camp?

The obstruction of the GOP during WW2 is well-chronicled since you want to play the "dead of WW2 vs. diplomacy" card..

And no link? Gee, I wonder why.

Just do what the Michigan GOP did to detroit..

By all means, post your docs supporting the lie you've been peddling all week. Hmm?

I prefer Teddy Roosevelt's style of diplomacy: Speak softly and carry a big stick.

Maybe you prefer Neville Chamberlain's.

Not sure what that means. I sure as **** don't want this to go to a war footing, does anyone? It's one thing to talk tough and another to bring the world to a fiery end. Somewhere in between would be my choice. Does that make me an appeaser? Or am I just being logical?

Stability of the world's two largest economies seems like the path. I'm baffled why China is even behaving like this. I don't have enough details to make a decision. They never listen to me anyway.

We'll know soon what the real implications are. Then, I will release a Proclamation.:)

If you're going to bring in the color of Obama's face right on time sawyer, it's "half-black", not Black..
I always said Obama was Carter in black face.
Carter gave away the Panama Canal and now Obama will give China these islands.

That would do wonders for our credibility.

Though you tapped on me, this time I'll do the work for ya, but when I say not you, since you won't do it yourself..

As we've seen all too well since October 1st in this latest exchange of rages,
the GOP saying "you lie" and you saying it to me doesn't make it true..
We're numb to the endless diatribe of lying charges over History as we all know it .
