Costco labels bibles "Fiction"

Well, a man speaking to a talking snake in a garden containing a tree which has fruit that destroys immortality does seem to be a stretch for "science". LOL.

It's not supposed to be "science" but neither is it fiction. The Bible is the word of God, it's truth not textbook.

Putting it in "fiction" is not appropriate and is offensive, nearly all bookstores have a "religion/spirituality" section and that's where it should be put.

Wow, the pastor was so upset that he...tweeted a photo of it instead of contacting CostCo? The reporter contacts CostCo and a customer service representative doesn't want to talk to him? Well no **** sherlock, contact their media relations people if you're writing a story.

A minimum wage CostCo employee probably did it as a joke and nobody noticed it. The pastor and the reporter handled this in a way that clearly shows they're more interested in spreading outrage instead of getting to the bottom of it.

Another attempt at outrage. hey, how is the war on Christmas going?

I'm not interested in what people think, I'm interested in what people can prove. Prove it.

Prove that Jesus actually lived? Seriously? Can you possibly be more obtuse?

So, Jesus didn't exist?

A man by that name probably did exist. That doesn't make everything someone writes about him true.

I agree. I'm just being an Asshat. Gotta live up to that award I got a couple of years ago. :)

Costco isn't a book store.

About him? That's definitely open to debate. However, it's a known fact that a man, who was considered a profit, named Jesus of Nazareth lived. The Christians wrote of his existence, the Romans wrote of his existence and the Muslims wrote of his existence.

You apparently believe it, where is your evidence? Or is this just mindless blind faith?

No, a man by that name didn't exist, Jesus is a romanization, the more likely name was Jehoshua.

If ones faith is so fragile that a little sticker upsets you...maybe the problem is not with the sticker.

Meh...dont like it, dont shop there.

How else could you label it?

In the broadest sense the Library of Congress Classification System classifies it as "Class B -- Philosophy, Psychology, Religion".

By way of comparison, the LCCS classifies works of fiction in "Class P -- Language and Literature".

Can't go wrong using LCC subject headings.

Whats wrong with relgious texts? But then I guess the headline would be Costco puts Bible on same the shelf as the Koran.

Book stores will need to invent a new section for Bibles and such called "Controversial"..

Yes, a person named Jesus existed. Even the Muslims agree that Jesus existed.

Islam didn't exist when Jesus was supposedly around. So taking their belief in the existence of a Jesus as proof of anything is a fallacy. In 800C.E., the consensus was that there was no land other than Asia, Africa & Europe. In 1200 BC, this was still the consensus. Is that proof that there is no land other than Europe, Asian & Africa? No. A belief remaining in place for centuries does not mean it is true.
