Militia group calls for Obama's assassination

Some researchers corroborate a link with violent video games and violent Hollywood Left movies with teenagers and young adults shooting up schools and movie theatres.

then please provide a source that specifically mentions these "researchers" and their study.

otherwise we have to assume the obvious about your statement.

More than likely facebook has already acted on it and taken the page down as it would violate their user agreement. As for arresting, who knows if that is in the process or they are gathering more information.

Okay, thanks.

Then would it be safe to say that Faux news, Glen Beck and Rush can also have an affect on their listeners/viewers.

...In addition to simply hating the President, and being convinced that he was born in Kenya and is a Muslim, Wilhelmsen is a supporter of the Tea Party, anti-Obamacare, and very concerned about Benghazi. Oh, and he’s also apparently a big supporter for the 2nd Amendment...

Are you serious? This guy is a loon. Funny, how many violent video games and movies are there that MILLIONS of people have watched? Funny, I've (and MILLIONS of others) been able to play Call of Duty (all games) without having the urge to go out and kill someone. Also I watch all types of movies including violent ones. Hmmmmmm but hey, you go and blame video games and movies all you want.

Has anyone actually seen this dudes facebook page? I went searching and couldn't find it. But I did find an article from 3 days ago that said the secret service was aware of this guy and his threats. So what does that actually mean? Can't he just be arrested and taken off the streets? At a minimum put into an insane assilum or something. Crazyness pervades the world today.

The source is the radical leftist hate group, the SPLC. The same hate group who in 2009 claimed that anyone who didn't vote for Obama in 2008 was a racist and they made the same claim on their blog that if you opposed Obamacare you're a racist.

The same SPLC who has easy access to Eric Holder's office.

Christian militia calls for Obama

The Christian American Patriots Militia is openly calling for the assassination of President Barack Obama on their Facebook page. The Christian militia calls Obama a “dictator,” and claims the “authority to kill Obama comes from the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution.”

Scumbags.

Arrest them all

If this is true these people should be in jail before the end of the week.

More than that, I did a google and ended up with pages who published this thing from 3 days ago on.

unless you provide a source that shows what you are saying is true, we have to assume you have no source.

We didn't have video games when I grew up, but we had movie theaters where we went to watch all sorts of horror flicks with Bella Lagosi, Lon Chaney, Boris Karlov and the like. That is not counting all the westerns which may have accounted for nearly half of all movies back then.

I don't want to drift off topic, but the military and VA are looking into the connection of violent video games and the high rate of combat PTS. Troops going into combat being numb to taking a life and down the road reality catches up to them.

Might be a good thread on another PD forum.

It depends. This has happened in my area a few times over the years. The usually get a visit from the Secret Service that investigates the claim including an interview and an assessment whether this person was just mouthing off or whether he actually poses a real or potential threat to the President. People who are deemed blowhards typically are not prosecuted, but those that are deemed a potential or actual danger, do get prosecuted.

Apache, speaking from personal experience as a video game player, i think they are too many variables to take into account to make a accurate study of video games affecting soldiers to become more prone to PTSD. how old were the soldiers when they first started playing games? had they expierance violence in any other form of entertainment? did they actually believe the games to be reality?

Makes sense, thanks

Back in the old days, the good guy wore a white hat and the bad guy wore a black hat.

Back then, the villain wasn't a hero and usually paid the ultimate price.

Today.

I think the "Soprano's" is one of the best television series ever produced. Has to be one of the top five along with "MASH", "I Love Lucy", etc.

But how many Americans have no idea who these people are in real life and idolized a bunch of sociopaths today ?

When these video games evolve where brain matter comes flying out of the screen splattering all over your face, you might look at the game differently than just entertainment.

I have no idea. Yeah, the good guys always won in the end.

Yes, researchers who peddle BS. The statistics are not there to back the claim.

Again, I think that is severely oversimplifying and is not a good cause and effect study. For instance, Hitler breathed air, you breathe air, are you like Hitler? The answer (I hope) is of course no, you are not.

I think there are enormous variables involved with violence, however, I don't think you can accurately sit there and say "If only Johnny hadn't played Call of Duty, he wouldn't have shot up that school".

Calling for the presidents death, hell anyone's death, is not protected under the first amendment.

Hmm, it seemed to be a-okay, when Bush was President. Didn't they even have a play or something going in which Bush was assassinated near the republican convention?

No, it wasn't. Calling for specific violence against anyone is illegal.

And that goes double for threatening the life of the POTUS. I imagine the Secret Service is all over this.

No, it wasn't A-OK, it was clearly illegal even back then.

What's different today compared to fifty years ago ?

Fifty years ago you didn't have Columbine shootings but access to firearms was a whole lot easier. No background checks, waiting periods, even a sixteen year old could purchase a box of ammunition. There were more homes with guns in the home. There were no video games and instead after school the activity was football, base ball, playing army and cowboys and Indians. You could actually get hurt playing. You can't get hurt playing the video game "Grand Theft Auto."

When I was in grade school they had "show and tell," and it was common for a class mate to bring his father's war souvenirs from WW ll to show, the German P-08 Luger being the most popular. No body raised an eye brow and Miss Crabapple would say "Show and tell is over. Now Johnny put that pistol in your desk and don't forget to take it home after school or your father will likely give you a spanking."

About twenty five years ago the Marine Corps discovered that new recruits were showing up and have never been in a fist fight in their lives. That todays generation don't know how to fisticuffs. That the Corps had to bring out the boxing gloves to teach maggots how to fisticuff. They know how to cold **** someone on a video game or blow up the jolly green giant but if there's a real fight over a girl they don't use their fist but resort to a gun or knife.
