Thugs Picked the Wrong Dad to Target for Shameful ‘Knockout Game’

Something tells me they're pretty selective when targeting their victims. I even saw a video on the news of a low life targeting a women who had her back turned.

I posted this in another thread someone did a study. They filmed dozens of people at a mall

then showed the films to hardened street criminals at a maximum security penitentiary and asked the thugs which of the people on film the thugs would mug and which ones they wouldn't screw with

an interesting finding was that one man was singled out by almost every thug as a guy the thugs would not want to mess with he was in his late forties, and was at best medium size and weight.

turned out he was a decorated special forces veteran who had been involved in some really nasty face to face combat. the thugs picked up on the fact that this guy was pure hell on wheels and that he'd put a serious hurting on anyone who screwed with him. One thug noted-the way that dude moves-he looks like he has "creeped" on people
another guy noted-"that cat looks like he is looking to shank someone"

mopes can read body language. They can tell who is oblivious to danger and those who are always in "code yellow" state of alert

It has only been the last few years that I did not consider all men (except very elderly) to poise a real, imminent assault threat and acted accordingly. What I most did not like is for anyone to ever be behind me or out of my vision. However, I look scary so rarely had any problem.

A problem my wife has always had - and something I recognized from the first time I saw her - is that she looks vulnerable and like an easy target in many different regards for potential assault, harassment, or even just to approach for friendly reasons. The first words she ever heard me say in relation to her of any kind was my telling a group, "stay away from her, she's with me" - having never met her before and intervening due to seeing trouble brewing around her. Making it worse, her response to men in face, body language and voice makes it very clear she viewed such men as not worthy of even talking to her. Some men don't handle rejection by women well. Overall she doesn't like strangers and never has.

People should ALWAYS take a sense of danger very seriously and never, ever be embarrassed to seem rude or defensive in response to it. If a person, particularly a woman but really anyone, doesn't feel comfortable towards people behind them or coming towards them, they should not be embarrassed to rapidly move or reposition him/herself. The world if more dangerous than people like to believe. If violence comes a person's way, it usually comes with no notice and incredibly fast. And often it is just random or opportunistic.

The one thing I think we should teach our young girls is that they should trust their spidey senses. More often than not they're accurate. I think many a young girl/woman has put herself in harm's way because she didn't want to be rude. And some perps are smart enough to use that thought to their advantage.

that is true for boys too btw

You can damn sure bet they aren't targeting any Hell's Angels or Banditos, fer sure.

Sucker punching punk bitches like this shouldn't be surprised if people fight back. It'll teach them some common ****ing sense. They wouldn't go to a ghetto ass neighborhood and try this **** because they'd get their asses kicked. They'd probably go do this far from their moma's eyes.

Dude got shot twice and is in jail... i'm surprised that he was humbled enough to realize that "Weaver even admits he’s getting off easy."

Looks like instead of continuing a line of pretend bad-ass he actually learned his lesson.

I like to walk for exercise, and this is why I never wear headphones of any kind. I need to be aware of my surroundings.

"Thugs picked the wrong dad to target" . . . so the other people who didn't or couldn't fight back, they were the right targets?

What a **** hole thing to say.

[not at you Hatuey - but at the poor journalism, here]

What the everloving hell? People really do this knockout thing? I thought this was just some rumor hang-wringing suburban people were freaking out about, like the mythical choking game when I was a teen.

The idiot is lucky he isn't dead or paralyzed. Hopefully he learned something.

It looks like we can all agree on this one.

Ah, the choking game wasn't mythical either. We did it when I was a teen in the late 70s/early80s.

Not to mention that distraction from your exercise makes it a much less effective exercise. People who do that are under a grand delusion that it makes their workouts more effective. It doesn't.

Maybe that's where I came from. I remember this whole broo-ha-ha when I was in high school, started by a single incident.

Perhaps they remembered it from their youth and thought it was re-emerging. Also stupid. But to take it to trying to seriously injure random stranger is just... wow.

Hopefully he learned he'd be dead if Dad had been a better shot.

I did not know that, but it doesn't surprise me. Another benefit I get is that walking alone for 30 to 60 minutes is great thinking time.

Yeah it's gotten to the point where I think most people are afraid to be alone with their minds. If you think being alone with your mind is boring... you are either not a very good thinker or likely have problems to sort out and rather opt for the distraction instead.

Oh, totally agree.

Update: guns worn visibly on the person deter people from victimizing you when playing the knock out game. All citizens are advised to wear guns visibly to prevent being targeted.

I'm 5'6" and weigh about 125 pounds. I'm also low vision and I haven't been in a fight since I was 12. Even then, I lost. My mother was 4'6" and weighed about 70 pounds so I'm grateful for what I have. It could be worse. But my skills are in thinking, not in combat. Too bad, because I have the heart of a superhero, just not the physique.

5'6" 125lbs is A GREAT SIZE for a girl!
I would date you anytime.

Seriously size matters not. Size works to your advantage in many cases.
