Missouri Executes Serial Killer Franklin - ABC News

After a stay was lifted, MO executes racist killer JP Franklin. HE murdered two African American boys in Cincinnati decades ago as well as crippling porn purveyor Larry Flynt. Good riddance-Hamilton County (Cincinnati) Prosecutor Joe Deters said this guy was more deserving of death than any prisoner he had seen

Good news for the citizens of Missouri.

In my opinion, deathrow inmates should be executed much sooner than the current decades average.
 
Can't say I'm shedding a tear over this.

He wasn't a racist. He just had a different opinion.
 
If there is an afterlife, I would hope that Franklin is there..... Among Jews and Blacks, who get to kick his ass every day for eternity.

He was also schizophrenic. So what he admits is irrelevant. He was a troubled Southern soul raised in a non-racist part of Alabama and had a different opinion.

Honestly, this is why I don't advocate for the death penalty. Decades later is hardly a deterrent. I suppose it needs to be there so we can plea-bargain it away for confessions and locations of bodies. Maybe if we knew what it was like to be a prisoner on death row for twenty years it would seem more daunting.

I still think nothing beats semi-isolation and dying alone...

Your opinion doesn't make him a racist. :shrug: A psychiatrist's opinion however does point to him being a schizophrenic - and a troubled soul with a different opinion on race.

I guess the Grand Dragon of the Mississippi KKK in 1963 was just a troubled soul with a different opinion on race too, when he ordered churches to be bombed, and helped snuff out the lives of 3 civil rights workers. :mrgreen:

The amount of time is ridiculous, agreed. Just wastes even more $$$.

Agreed. Never thought about it as a bargaining chip before but altho it probably works, it still wouldnt justify the DP, just IMO.

I watch a lot of a channel called Investigative Discovery on cable. It is very apparent to me that a parent's worst nightmare...worst nightmare! is a missing child. For that reason, I think (with the victim's family's consent) the death penalty would be a worthy bargaining chip.

And really? I do so like the idea that, when their end comes, instead of being surrounded by loving family and friends? They will take their last breath in a prison infirmary.
