Census ‘faked’ 2012 election jobs report

Of course they would prefer it not be reported...it is an article that is against "The Chosen One", their exhaulted supreme leader.

Im sorry, yours was a rhetorical question....sorry.

The only people who consistently refer to Obama as a "chosen one" or an "exalted supreme leader" are those on the right who feel they must make caricatures of liberals to insult. It's getting kinda old. Most of the "left" isn't to keen on Obama either, we just don't hate his guts like the right does.

There is no shocker here. It was already revealed that one of the reasons the employment numbers looked 'better' was because several states didnt bother submitting their numbers. Add to the mix the fact that they simply stop counting people after they exhaust their benefits and its easy to see we simply dont know just how bad it all is.

Not submitting their unemployment numbers in time is vastly different than making up data out of thin air....which is what this employee claimed happened.

Side note;
The same amount of employed people are working now as they were in January 2009 with little difference in numbers, what has changed is the amount of people actively seeking work, it has dropped dramatically...if the people were counted now as they were then, unemployment would be well over 10%.

The Census employee caught faking the results is Julius Buckmon, according to confidential Census documents obtained by The Post. Buckmon told me in an interview this past weekend that he was told to make up information by higher-ups at Census.

Who's anonymous?

The anonymous source is the one claiming it's not just this guy. The Post story also goes into detail as to why this guy was told to make stuff up, and it wasn't "to make Obama's re-election chances better." Did anyone here actually READ more than the first four paragraphs of the story?

"The Chosen One" is not a right wing nickname for Obama...that was given to him by Louis Farrakhan.

Get with the program man.

Yeah, Louis Farrakhan, who the vast majority of "the left" thinks is an asshole who we wish would just go away. You guys have run with that idiot's words for years. Again, just because you didn't come up with it doesn't mean you haven't beaten that moronic horse into a bloody pulp.

Yup.

They made up the info because they couldnt meet quota. So miraculously all those made up calls just happened to be put into the "employed" people category.

Hey, dont be a hater. I am just using a nickname given to him by a fellow leftie.

If it were my own nickname, it would be more like - the "Narcissistic habitual liar" or the "ass-hat" both of which are better nicknames than the one Farrakhan had given him...but I dont want to interject my own personal thoughts into this.

There's no evidence that all of the made-up info registered people as unemployed.

By making up survey results — and, essentially, creating people out of thin air and giving them jobs — Buckmon’s actions could have lowered the jobless rate.

Buckmon said he filled out surveys for people he couldn’t reach by phone or who didn’t answer their doors.

But, Buckmon says, he was never told how to answer the questions about whether these nonexistent people were employed or not, looking for work, or have given up.

But people who know how the survey works say that simply by creating people and filling out surveys in their name would boost the number of folks reported as employed.

...

Census appears to have looked into only a handful of instances of falsification by Buckmon, although more than a dozen instances were reported, according to internal documents.

All the story says is that they "could have." Doesn't say they did. And even if he DID register all those people as employed, there's "more than a dozen" instances of Buckmon's fraud, which would move the needle approximately none. That's pretty slipshod journalism, but I expect nothing less from a Murdoch rag.

I find the "narcissist" label hilarious. It's like the right wing became the League Of Armchair Psychologists overnight.

I guess you havent been following the story since it broke yesterday...

There are two relevant facts:

1. BLS did not manipulate the data.
2. The purported localized incident involving an individual (not BLS) had no material impact on the statistics. The revised data still shows exactly the same unemployment rate as had been reported in September 2012 (7.8%).

In short, the drop in the unemployment rate was real. It was not an artifact of manipulation or fraud.

corrected...you are welcome.

Defend the administration all you want to. Make any excuse you desire, it just makes you supporters look more the fool every day than you are.

Sometimes you need to stop defending the indefensible.

Nope...that comes from the people who have met him and spent time with him...namely the head of GE in an interview.

the BLS didnt, the Census Bureau did....read the article and you might have known that. Making up data doesnt change the end results?

Is he a trained psychologist? Narcissistic Personality Disorder is a diagnosis.

That's what I meant. It's late here.

As opposed to blindly accusing without evidence? I see you couldn't refute a single word I typed.

Did I say that it was to make Obama's re-election chances better?

You have a poor showing when you're trying to argue against something I actually say, don't try your chances with that which I don't, k?

Further, Mr. Quick-to-Cover-Obama's-Jock, I did read the story, THE WHOLE THING, and as your query suggests, people around here, don't usually read the links provided, you're guilty of this yourself, so, naturally, the first glimpse of the keyword "anonymous" I pulled, (wrongfully in this case, heh, go figure) I went with.

The implication was clear. Don't backtrack now.

Cover Obama's Jock? As of now, nothing ties this story to Obama whatsoever.

Well, can't say I didn't warn you.

Who's anonymous?

This is what I wrote with the context in which I wrote it, where in the Sam Hill did I infer, suggest, imply, or give any inkling that this was some sort of grand conspiracy to re-elect Obama?

Eh? Oh, that's right, it wasn't... it was you talking out of your ass...

I can't post anything on a thread that has Obama's name in it without you running to Obama's resucue, hands cupped, screaming "I'm comin for ya Beanie Boy!!!"

Right, but you've still got a lock on his jock like a pitbull...

I'll actually do the mea culpa on that one ... it was late, I'm exhausted and I thought you had said something someone else did. My bad.

Right, but you've still got a lock on his jock like a pitbull...

Again, as of now, this story has nothing to do with Obama. I criticize Obama plenty. However, around here, it's hard to not just shake my head at some of the ridiculous stuff that gets thrown at him.

There's no reason whatsoever to believe this story is true, not only does it come from a SINGLE writer at the New York Post but an anonymous source is used and no one else can even say that they've met or verified this source as being real.

So basically its one person saying "I have some secret information I can't show you but trust me on it."

Anyone who believes is frankly desperate for something to latch onto, clearly has no standards WHATSOEVER for information, and I think may even be clinically retarded.

You dont have to be a trained psychologist to use observance and application of definition.

So Jack Welch, an asshole of the highest order, calls Obama a narcissist, and *poof* he's a narcissist, end of story.

I don't even like Obama, but it amazes me the kind of negative things people will accept about him completely uncritically. Obama Derangement Syndrome claims another victim.

LOL...the NY Post is akin to the National Enquirer. A "knowledgeable source"....that's right up there with FauxNews "Some folks say" sources....thanks for the laugh this morning. What other conspiracy theories do you have for us?

That's what I meant. It's late here.

The Census bureau acknowledged the incident. There is no arguing the incident occurred, they admit it did.

The question now is;
Who ordered the falsified statistics?
Why were they used and not disclosed?
Who figured out the ratio of false data to use? Employed, unemployed - looking and not looking.

to just brush it off in order to defend the administration at all cost ideology is stupidity.

We have case after case of our government lying to us, yet you seem to be defending their doing it by brushing it off. This administration is corrupt through and through...from the top on down through out its lowest levels.
