Census ‘faked’ 2012 election jobs report

It just amazes me how the NYPost, The Blaze, Brietbart, PJMedia, American Thinker, and a slew of rightwing blogs can all come out with the same breaking story on the same day.

Would you prefer the story not be reported at all?

Yep. If MSNBC ignores it then it did not happen. ;)

Why does it amaze you? It happens with the NYTimes, The Huffington Post, DailyKos, Democratic Underground, etc as well. The ideological driven publications generally lead most stories these days one way or the other. Considering the source is anonymous right now, not surprising it hasn't gotten legs. I'm sure right now there is a Congressional staffer tracking this guy down.

There is no shocker here. It was already revealed that one of the reasons the employment numbers looked 'better' was because several states didnt bother submitting their numbers. Add to the mix the fact that they simply stop counting people after they exhaust their benefits and its easy to see we simply dont know just how bad it all is.

Well since the whole unemployment number is based on information received from companies via a poll basically, then I would suspect that the hard core conservative run companies would do exactly the same, just in the opposite way.

Would you prefer the story not be reported at all?

I would prefer credible organizations report on something. Those far-right bloggers straight up lie all the time. I mean, you wouldn't just accept an article that came up on DU, written by Michael Moore, and reported by AddictingInfo, would you?

The "anonymous" source is huge problem for the credibility of the story, imo. Until we know who the source is.....meh.

Btw, aren't job numbers reported quarterly? I thought the US census was taken every ten years, not quarterly.

Anonymous sources aren't uncommon in reporting, particularly in government if its someone in fear of reprisal.

I believe the Census Bureau works with the Department of Labor to conduct the unemployment surveys of households. The national census or full population count is conducted every 10 years.

It's called a feed.

Same mechanism that NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, the NY Times, and the rest of the DNC controlled media use to all come up with the same breaking stories.

Using anonymous sources to fabricate stories isn't that uncommon either....

Why don't they get the job data from the companies doing the hiring instead of "households".

I thought the unemployment numbers came from those claiming "unemployment" at the unemployment office not household surveys.

That makes sense. I mean why wouldn't a tabloid like the NYPost have an RSS feed just like the real news does?

Yes, anonymous sources can be used to fabricate stories but without evidence confirming that you're simply making an assumption based on your own biases.

How are you gonna get unemployment data from companies? How do companies know who's looking for work? For unemployment numbers, they use household surveys. For job growth numbers, they use companies.

I would prefer the story came from a source that didn't have a 44% not credible to 39% credible rating by it's own readers and is part of the "dog pile" right wing echo chamber.

So often people use terms they don't understand - the further to the left, the more common this is...

Of course a "tabloid" is a publication that pays for source information. The Post is no more of a "tabloid" than the Times, but since the Times clears stories with the party prior to publication, you seek to smear the Post.

I also notice that you offer nothing to support the contention that the story is accurate - instead you offer just a backhand smear.

I understand, slander, libel, and demagoguery are the mainstay of the shameful left.

The NYPost is a tabloid and not a credible news source. So yes, I guess I'm a bit more picky on what I base my opinion on than you.

I said job data...you know as in "hiring".

I always thought the unemployment numbers come from "unemployment claims". Polling 60,000 households to represent the entire unemployment rate would seem easy to skew.

Skewing the job numbers is a pretty serious allegation so I"m going to wait until a credible news source weighs in. But thats just me...ya'll go ahead and believe whatever you want because you will anyway.

Gotta love the always in denial mode of the -ists. Lies are not lies with them, failure is never failure with them as long as it supports Obama somehow.

I'm glad you understand because the two men in the photo are suing the NY Post for libel.....

But hey, don't let the truth get in the way of your smug snarky ideology....you wouldn't be a right winger without it.

Happens all the time.

{ A former FBI informant who helped foil a bomb plot at the 2008 Republican National Convention has sued the New York Times for libel and defamation.

A Times story from February 22 claimed that Brandon Darby had "encouraged" others to bomb the RNC, when in fact he had been essential to law enforcement efforts that disrupted the plot. Evidence shows that the Times was aware of the error as early as March 3, yet the online version remains uncorrected. Applicable precedent holds that a publisher may be liable for continued publication of defamatory material, even if it was thought to be true when published, if the publisher does not make a sufficient effort to remove that material after being made aware of its inaccuracy.}

You clearly just looked at the headline in lieu of actually reading the article. The article talks about the unemployment number which is included in....you know, "jobs reports."

We don't send in unemployment reports. We are required to pay in to unemployment for each employee, the numbers are generated by the office that sends out the checks. Nice try though, just way off. Not uncommon for someone who bashes business without understanding how it works.

Thats flat wrong. BLS survey 60k households monthly to come up with the unemployment rate. They survey companies to post job growth numbers.
