Republicans mount shock comeback, erase Democrats’ edge in eyes of Americans

peoples lives should not be dictated by how much they are worth in monetary value.
Is this the reason you believe it is okay to steal from your neighbors? If you want something you pay for it. You do not have any right to my property no matter what you believe.

And Obamacare collapses under its own weight as there aren't enough people purchasing policies to make it feasible.
No matter what it will not collapse. It cannot. It will bankrupt taxpayers. It will bankrupt the achievers. And eventually it will bankrupt the nation. But it will not collapse until the nation does.

Arm up.

is there a moral responsibility for the insurance company to give a damn about the people who they supply policies to?
No. Why do you ask?

There are sound business reasons for giving people who are customers what they pay for.

YOu need to read your actual Constitution and put down the opinions of mere individuals .
Hay, it did not do you any good to read it. You just mischaracterized it. You will never admit it though. I get that. The Left read the Constitution in order to subvert it.

And in over 220 years not one Supreme Court decision has interpreted the powers of Congress like EB or others here believe they are to be interpreted.

Think about what the implications of that. Even in the 1700's when the Founders themselves were on the court - no such interpretation.

In the early 1800's when conservative interpretation ruled the day for decade after decade - no such interpretation was ever produced.

And on and on and on it went from Court after Court after Court after Court. Not when the Courts were very conservative did such an interpretation ever come forth. And not when the Courts were liberal did such an interpretation ever come forth.

EB cannot find a single decision which agrees with his extremist interpretation and has not even produced a single justice who agreed with him.

But none of that matters to EB or his sycophants who apparently believe rather than know.

I think its a good idea you never reference the constitution, you better stick with the court for your orders.

federalist 14--“…the general [federal] government is not to be charged with the whole power of making and administering laws. Its jurisdiction is limited to certain enumerated objects

The very nature of taxation is to take from one and provide some government program or service to another. What you describe as the peter and paul situation.

The very essence of taxation is to take money from one person, and the government then redistributes it in some fashion.
This clearly shows you subvert the Constitution. Constitutionally limited governments tax in order to fulfil their written Constitutions. Americans never intended nor did they write a Constitution to allow a government to take one one citizen to give to another. We fought one civil war to end slavery. And yet here come the Left with the New Slavery.

Checks... cash ... services ... food cards ...... contracts ..... entitlements ..... its all money collected from people and going to people. To pretend otherwise is simply denial of reality.
And all of it is unconstitutional. Every bit of it. To pretend otherwise is simply denial of reality.

Thank you for clarifying that.

I am not against the government making it possible for people with special needs to live in dignity. That would include the seriously handicapped and disabled. Again, I think that is simply part of living in a Christian based society which will not allow people to simply die.
There is no part of the Constitution that allows the federal government to take my wealth to give it to another. None. If you feel strongly about it then you sell all that you have and give the proceeds to the poor. It would offend the Christ you keep bringing up to demand that the state compel me to carry your cross.

Let the Christians band together if they wish to fund all of these things you claim they support. You and they have no claim on my life. No matter how much you pretty it up you are not different from any slaveholder prior to the last Civil War.

We will always have a welfare state. Desperate people do desperate things. Imagine telling the nation that all welfare, SS, Medicare, and unemployment insurance payments will cease as of Nov. 30th. The Police would be so busy that they would just give up and go home to protect their families.

While we're at it, the stock market might as well crash. It would be much more devastating than in 1929 due to today's population.
It was phased in. It can be phased out. We can stop creating new victims. And we can retire the old ones.

What the polls over the last few months show us is that a party can fall rather fast depending on events of the day..... the GOP with the shutdown and their role in it and the Dems with the Syria fiasco and the health care registration debacle. It also should remind us that it is a very long way until the next election cycle and lots of events will change the fortune of both parties during that time. So I would not read too much into the latest polls either way as to what they may mean for 2014 or 2016.

Yes things will certainly change between now and then, but how much more some people will have to pay to be insured will not. Obama care should hit the Democrats hard, as most that voted for democrats already received free heath care. guess we will see if they brought in new voters with Obama care, or if they alienated others that voted for the party in the past in the next election.

Tax the poor! Sounds like a winning strategy, you guys should run with it.
Good point. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" has worked much better for the last one hundred years.

Why stop now. Marxism remains popular with many.

And how do we know what the Constitution actually means? THE SUPREME COURT interprets it for us. Not you.

It is the Supreme Court who interprets the US Constitution. They have been doing so for over 220 years. And not a single Court decision agrees with your far right extremist interpretation of what the powers of Congress are or what the scope of the Federal Government is regarding the American people.

So for you to
1- know this reality about who interprets the Constitution
2- know that not a single Court decision in 220 years agrees with you
3- cling to this ridiculous interpretation in despite of those two facts

shows that their is some fantasy world of the USA that you seem to believe exists that has nothing at all to do with the real one the rest of us inhabit.
This is why the Article V fight is so important to win. We have to undo the damage done by the Supremes. A tyranny by a small number is no less offensive than a tyranny by one.

Sadly, Ernst, what the Constitution says is actually irrelevant. Yeah, we can read it and see what the federal government's powers are SUPPOSED to be. But if the federal government says something is legal, then it's legal. It may be evil. It may be contrary to the Constitution, but none of that matters. The federal government has absolute and final legal authority to determine the extent of its own powers.
This is true only until we object and reassert our power over our government.

This is why the Article V fight is crucial. If we do not win it the nation is finished.

Article V of the United States Constitution provides that Congress, "on the application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments...". The Founding Fathers of our nation recognized the importance of providing this means by which the citizens of our country could initiate amendments to change and/or clarify the Constitution; the fundamental document which they intended to be not only the blueprint for our federal system but also "the supreme Law of the Land".

The premise of social safety net examples? The premise is to help people who need help. And that is what they do.

Examples:
people who are hungry get food stamps.
people who are homeless get housing.
people with kids get aid for those families.
people who are sick and cannot pay get medical treatment

Can you follow those examples? Can you get that helping those in need and alleviating their condition is proof of the programs success?

yeah I know - silly questions!!!!! :doh:roll::(
And not a single one of those issues is a federal government responsibility.

In Lt. Governor Bill Bolling, Repubs had a potential candidate who would have beaten McAuliffe 60% - 40%.:peace
Therefore what? I should feel sorry for Virginians too stupid to select someone who won't bankrupt them?

And how much has the GOP House spent to vote it down??
Too bad Dems didn't do this with Medicare part D when Congress still worked together..
Not as much as Obama paid to build the most expensive website in the world, that didn't even work.
And guess what he's still spending millions, to try and fix it. All at the tax payers expense.
What bills have been put out by the GOP House??
Only corporate welfare for House of Representatives who farm..
Good one--tens of millions to eleven GOP farmers to not plant, off-set with cuts in food stamps to hungry children .

Repubs should only fight battles they have a chance to win. I believe you are a lefty imposter infiltrating their ranks to disseminate destructive advice.:peace
In a war do you only fight the battles you know you can win? Of course not. Politics is war by other means. We are in a war for the soul of the nation. Where ever the enemy is we must fight. There will only be peace when the Left is decisively defeated.

In war a wise commander avoids battle until he has the advantage. In any case, you're a lefty imposter whose aim is to sow confusion.:peace

Linc, let me run this by you. Yesterday AM at the gas station I ran into a old friend of mine who use to work at Ft. McPherson and when it closed down went up to Ft. Bragg with me. He is a staunch Democrat and when I asked him about Obamacare, he backs it 100%. Buth he shook his head and said something akin to, "You know the Republicans have been ignoring those without insurance for years and years. Now we are ignoring those who lost their insurance because of Obamacare."
They have lost their insurance POLICIEs, not their ability to get insurance..
Some policies were junk and will continue to lead to bankrupcy and be paid by Uncle Sam..
I will continue to support the POTUS 100% as long as the GOP continue its 5-year war against him..

He is all for the ACA, but he was pretty disturbed with this "Oh well" attitude most of his fellow Democrats have been showing towards those who lost their insurance.
three dozen Dem House members voted for upton/upchuck's bill today, due to difficult CDs,,
it simply carves out the young and healthy for one, and is just another vote to kill ACA,,
You know damn well the GOP has NEVER cared for this 5% of Americans losing their policies
and this will catch up with them--always does,,
meanwhile, we hear nothing from the GOP over the 40 million uninsured,,
I must mention--wait till you hear of the latest voter ID from Wisconsin which has nothing to do with ID .

Just wanted your take, Sammie is supporting the ACA 100% too. As for the 39 Dem who voted for the Upton are probably from fairly conservative districts and are in fear of losing their job in 2014. Charlie Cook reported that 29 of those 39 are running in very competitive districts next year. You favorite Georgian Paul Broun voted against the bill.
