This report aired tonight on Anderson Cooper 360, and this is what I have to say about it... This is not how the government of a free country is supposed to conduct themselves. This Administration reminds me more and more every day of the Cuban government, or the Chavez regime or some other 3rd world dictatorship, rather than the United States of America.

Is this really the kind of government we want?

Obama's White House is the first to ever try to pressure anyone..
And the GOP invented historical revision .

I'll mark you down as a "yes" to the question: "Is this really the kind of government we want?"

Are you happy with countless disasters last decade that still plague the USA??
And spare us your phony Bush outrage..
Speaking of Eastwood's empty chair, how many empty chairs are there in the USA
due to the chickenhawks Bush/Cheney last decade..
Not to mention hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians that conservatives look down on .

Sorry, but the topic is about the report from CNN, which has nothing to do with Bush or Cheney.

And this partisan slop shouldn't be in "Breaking News".

Why is it that whenever something critical of Obama comes along those that support him always try to point out that other past administrations and presidents (usually Bush and Republicans at this time) did similar things (or worse) also? Can you folks NOT just talk on the merits of what is before us NOW? We already know what Bush did, and Clinton did, and Bush Sr. did and so on and so forth.

Just because something is happening now that is bad does not mean that it wasn't bad 20 years ago either. Instead of trying to play lame GOTCHA! games (when you really don't) try actually addressing the issue at hand for once.

CNN and Anderson Cooper now peddle partisan slop? I'm not saying they don't, but you should flesh out that conclusion you've reached in this instance just a little rather than simply being dismissive.

You conservatives didn't seem to mind that type of government under Bush and even voted for him twice.

It is 2013, nearly 2014. Why the hell am I still hearing "but Bush...?"

You're only standard of judging Obama is if he is nearly equal (marginally better or worse) to what Bush did? How the mighty have fallen. If one listens closely, one might just hear the pitter-patter sound of the soft bigotry of your low expectations.

All they have to defend the Obama Administration is something which may, or may not, have been worse in the past.

Of course this is not looking toward the future, what might happen if government controls private companies and the merging of the two in crony capitalism, and whether dishonesty is now acceptable by politicians because precedents have been set during previous administrations.. The bigger questions remain ignored and dishonesty is now being vigorously defended by the ideologues.

Could anyone have predicted this just a generation ago?

Are you admitting that government creates more problems than it solves?

Just because we voted for Bush doesn't mean we supported more government intrsion.

Walking back and revising history, as per the #1 chicken-hawk of modern times, Cheeney..

Another rewriter of history..
You don't get your Bush votes back and we don't get our dead soldiers back ..
In fact, as Bush became less conservative, the more his popularity fell.
Bush was a compassionate conservative and you bought it .

I'm sorry, but this thread isn't about Dick Cheney, it's about the CNN story about how the WH is pressuring insurance companies not to critisize Obamacare.

I'm guilty for taking the bait in moving away from the topic at hand, and it is one of great importance. This administration is not only investing in businesses, buying businesses, supplying start-up financing, but they are also now threatening private businesses.

It's easy to see why there are few leftists responding to this thread, and the couple who do naturally want to change the topic to George Bush.

So let me see if I can grasp this: The Administration is desperately attempting to keep people who could speak with both expertise and authority from saying what they think is going on, and the only way that that can possibly be spun positively is a desperate tack to the ole Bush-Is-Evil strawman?

When it comes to Nimby, that about covers it all right.

And "you liberals" didn't seem to have an issue complaining about that type of government under Bush, but voted for Obama twice.

I get the annoyance at Grim, but you just complaining about Conservatives and saying nothing regarding what's actually happening is hardly any different then him.

The thing is I didn't vote for Obama twice. I learned.

My complaint is against conservatives like apdst and Grim, who say they didn't vote for bigger government with Bush, but then try to say liberals are voting for socialism and marxism when voting for Obama. The same should apply one way or another and in that regard they are hypocrtical. Yes, there are liberals that are just as hypocritical.

Well, I for one have never said that, nor have I ever been asked. But thanks for being the latest contestant on "let's make up **** that Grim said".

You voted for Obama? Pot?
