White House official fired for insulting tweets...

A US citizen cannot "waive" their civil liberties without a judge present.

If they want a job in the White House, they can - but then, nobody forces them to take the job. Do you honestly think anyone working for government, particularly at such high levels, can do or say whatever they want?

No, not on treason (which is a crime) or classified documents which also falls under treason (among numerous other crimes that could be construed as treason), however having an opinion on an issue that is well within the public domain is NOT a crime it's a critique.

This administration is clearly being operated as a an authoritarian clone of the 40's and 50's Soviet Union.... These clowns just don't have the military to enforce their authoritarian tyranny -- nor will they ever -- on the contrary..... I wouldn't be shocked to see a Military Coup by the US Armed forces in 6-18 months...

The only people that would give a **** then would be Wall Street, Pelosi, Gore, Kerry and the rest of the thieves in suits ....

It was because of a programming error on healthcare.gov that accidentally linked to twitter.com and grabbed his tweet and mixed it with someone's medical records in Connecticut whose doctor misinterpreted the data and scheduled them for immediate surgery, but when asked by the hospital why they were dissing Obama they refused them service, whereupon the patient wrote their congressman, using words they shouldn't, which triggered the NSA computers, which shot a memo to the IRS, which sent an agent to their address, which had been transcribed incorrectly sending them to Obama's favorite pro shop where Obama just happened to be shopping for more golf balls. Seeing the commotion, Obama ordered one of his secret service agents to arrest the IRS agent who told his boss, who told his boss, who emailed his wife, who tweeted her lover, whereupon her lover's husband started a thread in his favorite political debate forum, dissing gays in general, which cranked up the NSA computers once again, this time intercepted by another programming "glitch" on healthcare.gov which routed the thread via AlJazeera's portal to the kitchen server in the White House; the post having been re-transcribed into Farsi, albeit in a dialect causing the head chef to interpret it as a meal request for Ms. Sebelius, who can't stand tabouleh. Meanwhile, Obama shot a 64 on the back nine, which he recorded in his smart phone and emailed to Michelle, whose computer was also infected by the healthcare.gov virus, and was inadvertently given the records of a 64 year old woman from Toledo, who happened to be the aunt of the white house aid, who told her nephew of the strange call she'd received from the first lady. Splurting his tabouleh over keyboard, an aid thought he was choking and started administering the Heimlich maneuver, which earned him a jab in the face, which initiated an investigation....

Competence sometimes takes a circuitous route to complete.

Just how stupid are some people??

He once worked for Joe Biden? Now I know where he picked this crap up from. LOL.

The funny thing, is if he had merely picked on the (R)'s, they would have let him slide. It is a rare event that this administration fires someone.. no matter what they do.

Indeed it is, but you are not guaranteed a job if you violate the terms of your employment. The private sector has social media conduct guidelines and rules that are sewn into their terms of employment too. You can say whatever you want on the internet, but that doesn't mean they're under any legal obligation to continue employing you if they find out you've said something that violates their guidelines and rules for social media conduct.

That's just so far over the top or so far under a rock that it has no justification for a serious response.

I want to read your books. Don't be shy! I know you're a writer. Gimme titles, man.

LOL I was having a bad day at the office, so careful, such comments might actually tempt me as inspiration to do just that....

Aha! I will tempt you! And then when you are published, I can take credit (of a sort).

Forgive me for not wanting to miss an opportunity, but consider the apparent wisdom displayed by Mr. Joseph, along side the job the White House considered him fit to perform.

And remind me again who's minding the global "store"?

Thanks Obama.:doh

LOL - I'll be sure to list you in the credits; "...and to my friend Sykes, on debatepolitics.com, whose tempting inspired this work." :)

Heck, once it makes the top of the NYT bestseller list, maybe Schweddy will even give me my own seat in the Tavern.

not a good idea.

The OP didn't say anything about the man violating any kind of contract causing his firing.

If he had tweeted classified information, I could see letting him go but he was tweeting his opinión of his co-workers. Everybody does that.

Here are the tweets that were listed in the OP

"While tweeting as @natsecwonk, Joseph criticized White House policy as well as the intellect and appearance of his bosses. He even insulted officials by name, including Secretary of State John Kerry and former National Security Advisor Tom Donilon, The Daily Beast reports.
"I'm a fan of Obama, but his continuing reliance and dependence upon a vacuous cipher like (White House senior advisor) Valerie Jarrett concerns me," he tweeted.
His insults crossed all party lines too, according to the news organization.
"So when will someone do us the favor of getting rid of (Republican and former vice presidential contender) Sarah Palin and the rest of her white trash family? What utter useless garbage?" he tweeted last year."

There is nothing classified about anything he tweeted there, so it looks like revenge for somebody getting there panties in a bunch.

You can screw up as much as you want wrking for Obama, but tweet your opinión and you are done for. Somehow there seems something wrong with that.

Civil liberties don't stop at government or federal appointed positions.

This is a nation by the people and for the people - not by the government and for the government...

You wish! In fact it's become a country that has been coopted by the teabaggers who are nothing but a rabid and frothing at the mouth minority. They are holding the people's government ransom and everybody knows it now.

If libertarians had any credibility they would rout out the racist teabaggers and return their label to a credible ideology. Even though it would mean the brand would be again supported by less than 10%. Corruption by racists and haters is not the way to ever be recognized as a valid choice.

Yep.

Now maybe they will relax the Patriot Act now that they got him.

That's just so far over the top or so far under a rock that it has no justification for a serious response.

It's teabagger wishful thinking and should be laughed at for the ugly racist nonsense that it is.

Someone needs to look up the definition of the word "teabagger" - unless of course it is their intention to refer to other members here in such vile and disgusting terms.
