Saudi Arabia warns U.S. that policy on Syria, Iran straining decades-old [W:70]

The nation that had the most 9/11 terrorists is trying to threaten us? They do realize our government is in love with the idea of an infinity war in the region....Obama will happily bomb them with his drones too.

Seemed to have been quickly forgotten, didn't it, that it was Saudi Arabians who flew those planes. Al Qaida has spread elsewhere but Saudi Arabia is where it hangs it's hat.
How did a feudal Islamic absolute monarchy earn any loyalty from the US anyway? Given their emnity to Israel who the US calls their main ally in the region?

They got the oil.

Yeah and? Its not like it couldn't have been taken from them.

Apparently not, not efficiently and in manner that serves the aristocracy anyway.

Well if that was the only reason, Id agree with you had Obama not told the world he was going to attack them to begin with. When Obama and Kerry hit the stage saying they were going to attack Syria, other countries expect and plan on that happening. Plus the fact that Obama has promised to arm the rebels before mostly backtracking on that as well. The Saudi's lost credibility with the rebels because every time the wind changed directions, Obama went with it. And all that happened after Obama turn his back on an American and Saudi ally, Mubarak. Plus the situation Obama has placed them in due to his incompetence on Iraq and Iran.

Nothing has been thought out by this incompetent administration.

If Obama had not made that threat to bomb Syria, do you really think they would be willingly turning over their WMDs now?

At the time it was a dumb move because it put the US in an awkward position of making a promise on the future when we would be certain what the situation would look like then, but something good seems to be coming out of it.

Also Mubarak is a cripple in a hospital bed now, the man is ancient and his time was done. What good would it have done to try to help a man already at death's door hold onto power for a little longer and refusing to engage the obvious new leadership? Also what exactly do you think Obama could have done to prevent Mubarak from being overthrown, his own Army took him from power, how exactly do you say we could have stopped that?

That is great, cut them off. They want to be bitchy in the buy your friends program, then see ya. I am not really sure why you are so hot on the saudis, but if you love them so much maybe you should go live there.

I see you have your title displayed prominently.

Last I checked, they hadn't turned any over yet. Maybe they will get around to it, sooner or later.

Did Obama think about asking them to turn them over until Kerry screwed up? No. So I don't know what Syria would or would not have done. But in any case, it was nothing that the Obama administration had pushed for.

But Obama and his incompetent sidekick Kerry made complete laughing stocks out of the US to the rest of the world. We can start getting some respect back just as soon as Obama is out of office but it won't happen until then. Our word can't be trusted.

With Mubarak, he was a friend and we should have stuck by his side. Once again to send a message to the rest of the world. To late for that now though. Because of Obamas inability to look past the next 15 minuets, we have everybody in Egypt hating us. The Egyptian Army didn't do anything until they saw Obama was going to dumb Mubarak. Try to get them to trust us now. Ain't happening.

And now Obama gets blamed again because that's what teabaggers do. Yet it comes out recently that the US went to war with Iraq because Afghanistan was too easy and the US wanted to kick some a-s in Iraq. Kicking a-s is slang for slaughtering hundreds of thousands of innocent people. And some of you American swine call others Nazis? America has invented a whole new meaning for the term!

Yeah, yeah and Bush got the blame for that one.....time to roll with the Changes.

Yes, but why are you so buddy buddy with the saudis? are you a secret muslim infiltrating the conservative fanatics of the US trying to bring them down from the inside?

Blame whoever you like but remember that Hitler needed the cooperation of the people in order to fulfill his evil agenda. Americans also went along gleefully with Bush so does that make him the modern day Hitler or does it make Americans the modern day Nazis?

The fact that the Iraq war was a war based on lies that slaughtered hundreds of thousands of innocents, just can't be counterspun any other way.

Which if we continue on all was agreeing with Obama and then the World gave him a Peace Prize. So he is far more influential than Bush was to the World. Now its his turn and his time. Its his watch so in the end it does fall on him now.

Although now I think he has lost some of that influence with the Saud.

Good, time to get off the oil teet and end these 'alliances' with such barbaric parts of the world.

i find it odd that obama is getting criticised for negotiating with a moderate Iran, and for not supporting the saber rattling of isreal and self interest of Saudi Arabia.

i thought the ultimate goal was for there to be peace in the middle east.

How so?

Saudi Arabia needs us more than we need it. Canada and Mexico provide more oil to the US than they do.. (Canada on it's own rather does, but Mexico isn't far behind)Just have to make an adjustment here, an adjustment there, easy peasy, and Boom! We wash our hands of them... F-16's don't have a very long shelf life with no replacement parts sent to fix them.

Their passive aggressive behavior with the US is getting kinda old in the first place. Give Israel the "good stuff" in equal proportion to what we've given the Saud's to boost their needs and then let the Saud's deal with the Iranian's and Iraqi's on their own. I'm sure the Shiite's would just love to control Mecca... Better yet, give Turkey the goods and encourage an Ottoman revival.

Saudi Arabia is in no position to be making demands or dictating terms...

Given the rate at which China and India are industrializing (and the growing populations of both countries) I fear the Saudis may be spoilt for choice.

It was because it was to oppose Obama. Ordinarily it will be the right trying to get a war going. This is further proof that the right's agenda is the teabagger agenda and that's totally made up of racist hate for Obama. That's why they are making themselves look stupid by trying to take credit away from Obama for his peace initiative that is working!

Two tantrums in a week from the Kingdom. First The UN was snubbed by the Saudi Arabians, kings of Human Rights abuses which was rather entertaining in itself...Now the Sunni-based Saudis are annoyed at the US due to lack of assistance in helping them dominate the Middle East...

Gosh. One can only imagine the tantrums and fallout if they were told it's about time that they did something about the dire human rights situation in the kingdom. Sickens me that my leaders happily look the other way whilst they oppress their own people and hold disgusting attitudes towards women's rights, religious freedoms, press freedoms etc....

Looks like today the Sauds Intel minister says they will be making a shift in their relations with us.

Do the Saud and Sunni actually think they can intimidate us and that they can make demands of us?

What do you think should be our wake up call for them?

Why not tell the Saudis that the US doesn't want their oil? Then watch as poor people freeze to death because the shortfall can't be made up quick enough. Then blame Obama for thinking it was a good idea!
