14-year-old arrested in murder of Massachusetts teacher, Danvers schools closed for investigation | Fox News

(CNN) -- The suburban Boston town of Danvers, Massachusetts, shut down all seven of its schools Wednesday after a teacher's body was found in woods behind the high school.

Authorities found Colleen Ritzer's body behind Danvers High School after she was reported missing Tuesday, according to the Essex County District Attorney's office. Searchers found blood in a second-floor bathroom, according to the prosector's office.

A 14-year-old boy is in custody, authorities said.

No gun involved apparently, although CNN had to get the word "gun" in the story at the end somehow.

Who would have thought being a teacher was as dangerous as being a police officer?

Teachers have know this for very long time now. If you teach in a big city high school you have to be able to not only control but sometimes intimidate people that lots of folks would cross the street to avoid coming even near to.

The only mention of gun was this comment:

Ritzer's death comes the same week as the death of a teacher who tried to stop a student with a gun at a middle school in Sparks, Nevada.

Not sure why that is a bad thing, they didn't mention a weapon in THIS case.

And who would have thought you would extrapolate that conclusion from this article?

Why couldn't have it just read, "Ritzer's death comes the same week as the murder of a teacher in Sparks, Nevada."

Hyperbole to make a point. The classroom is becoming an increasingly dangerous place. Today's culture encourages kids to deal with their hurt feelings in the most absolutely violent way possible, and teachers are getting caught in the middle more and more.

Why does it matter one way or the other? It doesn't

Danvers isn't a big city. Its a suburb of Boston. Just like most suburbs, it ranges from really nice to crappy. So rather diverse.

The local reports on this kid is painting a pretty crappy picture. Bastard went to a movie right after killing her. Fortunately, he'll be tried as an adult.

too bad that pretty teacher wasn't packing a pistol. She might still be alive

Good thinking Haymarket. I agree with you there. That kid is a stone cold killer. No chance of rehabilitation sadly. like a mad dog, put it down

Since he won't be fried, at least right away, give him forced labor to at least pay his room and board..

put him in with the worst scum. DEATH BY BONGO!

He needs to live to realize what he did bad to society..
He needs to be redirected in prison to give back to society what the teacher can no longer give and then some..

Teachers are a necessary component in prisons..
When he's not doing manual labor, force him to get a degree teaching inmates .

I think he might serve a better lesson by being made a horrible example out of. Sorry-he is past saving. what he did should be terminal in the consequences

True, but then we don't know what happened. Even someone with a gun on them can be take down if done so by surprise.

Obviously this boy suffers from mental illness. We really don't know enough about the story. Was he on medication, under the care of a psychiatrist, did these symptoms occur suddenly or have they been festering for a while, is he a drug user? *shrugs* I think learning some details first is important before the angry villagers start screaming "off with his head!" :)

That's some excellent logic right there!

Why, I'll bet that hundreds were disarmed just yesterday!

Do you believe that those cases involved deception, sleight-of-hand, or secret ninjas!?

Please feel free to send your personal cheque to cover the annual US$50,000 incarceration cost.

He done did bad, and we can keep his worthless ass alive on your dime.

Better yet, you can start housing them 'did bads' in your own home.

I do believe that a gun alone will not save someone without training of said weapon. I'm not for disarming citizens, in fact I'm the opposite. I believe the more armed (and mastery of said weaponry) will decrease victims.

I'm just not going to automatically say that someone with a gun will survive. I will admit their chances of survival are greater with a weapon, but without knowledge of the weapon or training of how to use it will pretty much decrease the chances of survival as that of someone without the weapon. Its not only having the weapon, but the knowledge and will to use it that makes the chances of survival greater.

*makes loud noises and spits profusely*

Not sure what your comment means or how it applies here since I don't know your views on the matter. Care to elaborate or is your spitting and louse noise making supposed to mean something to me?

I was trying to capture the essence of the mindless outrage you were responding to: poorly executed attempt at humor
