Consumer Reports: ‘Don’t even bother trying’ Obamacare website yet...

I didn't say that Obamacare is not as new as Rockstar. I only said that Rockstar is new to online gameplaying.

Sure...the government didn't design a good system either, but then, they are not dependent upon paying customers. All the government needs to do is pass a crappy law, design and build a crappy website and hey...if it doesn't work, that's just too damned bad.
Your innate unfairness is mind boggling. I'm sure I glad I don't suffer partisanship like you do. What a horrible affliction.

Here's an article that indicates that non-logged-in price browsing was the initial intent, but it was scrapped.

Obamacare's Website Is Crashing Because It Doesn't Want You To Know How Costly Its Plans Are - Forbes

That isn't what it really says was said. What I read being said is that since pricing might include a discount of sorts, they didn't want inaccurate pricing floating around. Since discounts are determined by individual circumstances, it would be impossible to display discounts as if they were coupons at Target's site. It makes sense, even if I may not have chosen thusly. It is not an attempt to hide pricing quite as you want to suggest.

Does Target show you the price of a blender online, or do they make you first prove that you possess a Target Red Card to ensure that they correctly show you the 5% off?

Does Amazon hide the prices of all movies, books, and music unless you first log in to determine your Prime eligibility?

Well, sounds to me like they only wasted 291 million dollars on a million dollar website. That's about par for the government course.

To think I built my business website for 30.00 (domain name,) and 14.95 a month server fee. LOL!

:lamo OMG! That's awsome!....I needed that one....Thanks...

Which brings up another good question...It is my understanding that the so called "subsidies" will be afforded in the method of a "tax credit" so, to me that means that I have to come up with the whole thing up front and then file at the end of the year, and wait to be reimbursed....What if I don't have that kind of monthly outlay to just let the government sit on for the year?

How many will be shocked when that hits them?

I think it depends on the total. From what I've read, most individuals will have the subsidy paid directly to the insurer.

However, if in the following year, its determined via your tax filing that you weren't supposed to get the subsidy, or only a portion of the subsidy, your tax refund, if any, will be reduced to recoup the subsidy.

Target shows me price and if there's discount, it's the same for everyone, so it's posted also. For ACA, the discount is different for everyone, so it can't be displayed. So it's like requiring all companies to put their highest prices on line with no access to discounts, fire-sales, or anything unless they sign in. That's kind of unfair.

Oh...I'm unfair, eh?

When I plunk down $60+ bucks for a game and maybe $15 bucks a month, I should expect the game to work on release day....but when the government totally borks their release...even after they spent half a billion dollars creating the thing...I am being unfair??

LOL!!

The only possible good thing that will come out of this is that Obama will ask Congress to delay the mandate because I don't think there is any way they'll fix this thing before Jan1.

When you poor and lower middle class American schmucks get over your racist hate for Obama you are going to find that his ACA has changed your country in a very positive way.

Gee, you won't be able to go bankrupt and lose everything you had anymore! Stupid is an understatement! Racist hate knows no rational bounds!

He will never do that...He has painted himself into a weak ass leader situation....If he puts it into delay before Jan, the repubs will instantly jump on him to say that that is all they were asking for, therefore the whole govt shutdown crap was indeed his fault....As it was.

When I suggested that was the only possible good thing, I meant good for the millions who won't be able to follow the law...not for political reasons. Your reasoning is more likely since we all know that Obama cares more about his political position than doing right by the people.

I don't pretend to understand it all myself. But I do believe that Americans should contribute to their own healthcare in as much as they are able too. I am so glad that they have to, by law, now.

Now, if we could do something to address the "professional welfare," people in our society, we might be able to get somewhere.

In my widest dreams, I never thought it would be a democrat who would mandate people taking personal responsibility for their well being. That was always a republican kind of position to take. And yet, the republicans are the ones doing most of the whining.

Old school democrats seem to have become modern day republicans.

And you are confusing a pricing discount(10% off blenders today) with an individual customer discount(prefered client, coupon holder, etc). A price discount for all would be displayed with the appropriate verbiage, see FTC regulations.

The FTC requires all companies to put THE price online, to protect against deceptive pricing. They also regulate how soon you can "fire-sale" or discount merchandise, with requirements about selling the product for a price for a specific duration. There is nothing unfair about it, its the regulation and everyone plays by the same rules.

Btw, if they never show you how much the plan is without subsidies, how do you even know that you are getting a deal? Again, see FTC regulations.

This is unacceptable, and no accountability from the administration, just more excuses, and misdirection using terms like a used car salesman trying to confuse you with terminology.

Taking shots from both sides of the isle, yet still he stands there and totally ignores what this trainwreck is doing to American's...He posed with 13 people that they say have actually signed up for Obamacare, one wonders if after three weeks that is all of them.....? :doh

This roll out beyond the "gliches" and slowdowns, has major security issues, and fraud problems associated with it, not to mention that there are increasing reports of people looking at premiums skyrocketing to in some cases three times what they are accustomed to paying, deductibles that are $15K, when they were used to $1K per person, and their workplaces once offering good plans, they are now receiving letters stating that their insurance will no longer be available to them, forcing them onto this exchange, that very few can even get through on to sign up if they wanted to.

This embarrassment surely Obama will hold someone accountable for right? Don't hold your breath, accountability is a great campaign catch phrase, just not so useful for the arrogant progressive practice.

And so begins the designed to fail Obamacare....How long before we start to hear, "we just can't do it, so we will need to institute Medicare for all...."?????

I don't know why so many uninformed people believe that the ACA is just a web site. I ordered my insurance over the phone, when I realized that the web site was not working for me.

There 'ya go.

The stupidest thing the IT contractor did was to qualify people BEFORE they had picked out a plan. They were just browsing at that point.

Really, ACA bans bankruptcies due to medical bills? Feel free to point out where that is.

Bless your heart.

Which one did you get? BSG? What was your premium(before/after subsidies), deductible, and out-of-pocket max?

I got the Silver Plan. Premium is 56 bucks a month.

And the deductible and out-of-pocket max? Based on information provided by the state of Texas, they stated that the lowest cost silver-plan is 287/mo. Did you get a 3,000 tax credit, or did they pay it straight to the insurer?

They pay it straight to the insurer. And your information is wrong. I got it for 56 bucks a month. Deductible is $3,000.00.

As I've said in other threads, MMO computer games have millions trying to log in and play on release day. The worst I've seen is an hour waiting in a queue. Once I log in, the game works and the developers correct things quickly. A few days later the queues are gone.

Maybe Obama should have hired Bethesda.

...and again to be fair, MMO computer games have a huge profit motivation to make sure the games run smoothly, so they'll throw tons of money to make sure it does. Government spending is closely eyed and unless you're in DoD, you certainly will not have a blank check to do whatever you wish.

Like I said, perhaps they could have used a consultant to assist with the problems of such a massive day one launch.

Never fear.As I understand it they are now calling in teams of private businessmen to fix the problem with their government system, designed to replace a private system. Because government is 'the answer'...

i think that the obama administration screwed up on healthcare.gov because we hired a incompetent contractor who took advantage of it's open-ended contract to give us a bad product at ever-increasing rates. the company is called CGI.
