Study: Nearly 30 million people live as slaves worldwide

Look at the size of our population, and the cries of oppression and racism we hear about everyday. We shouldn't have any slaves, but 60,000 scattered among 310 million people is hardly proportional to the what I see in the news. We're having marches on Washington because people feel oppressed.

Being oppressed can be a serious problem, but it is not the same as slavery.

See post #13 for examples of slavery in agriculture. Another area where slavery happens in the USA is domestic workers-maids and nannies, usually illegal immigrants. There are also some sex slaves working in brothels and "massage" parlors, but not as many as law enforcement, activists and the media usually claim. See http://www.villagevoice.com/2011-03...etwork-sex-trafficking-study-is-junk-science/ for details.

Not to mention it's neither accepted socially, culturally or legally here. What little incidence we have here is well hidden from law and society and it perpetrators seen as the worst of the worst when caught.

Unless they're tomato farmers.

Then everything is copacetic.

...an American who is living in poverty and having to work two jobs to survive...

Is not, under any circumstances, even remotely close to being a slave.

Your argument is as ridiculous as American's.

Yes, you made your point. It's just wrong.

See, when someone says there is racial discrimination regarding employment in the United States, they aren't saying it's equivalent to slavery. You, on the other hand, seem to think they're saying that.

I wouldn't expect you to agree. Remember when Biden said the rightwingers were going to put the chains on blacks. Yeah, that's the **** we hear. One example.

So, what you're telling me is that you actually took that statement literally. Interesting.

Oh no, but he was playing the game. You really don't get it. I figured a lot more from a guy who hangs out in the warmer section. Then again...
