Its good to see more people in the U.S. "get it" than don't. Perhaps this is an indication the tide is turning in the U.S. against conservative extremism.

Republicans Lose Ground vs. Obama in the Shutdown Blame Game - ABC News

At this point I'm pretty puzzled. You really have to question the logic behind the GOP's behavior. They're taking damage all for nothing. What could they possibly get out of this? The only positive I see so far is they have riled up their ever shrinking base of extremists, everyone else is shaking their head. Obama can't negotiate anything or else he'd be legitimizing the GOP's hostage tactics, it would be a terrible blunder.

The only possible outcome I see is for Boehner to throw in the towel and for the GOP to walk away in shame. Should be interesting to see how this plays out. I fear something nasty and unexpected is going to happen.

They'll blame librul media, because reality couldn't possibly be in opposition to what they believe.

No sense of personal responsibility. It's always someone else who's to blame.

Of course he'll throw the towel but not until the very last minute so everyone will be so relieved that the nation didn't default, they will think he's a hero. That's his "plan" anyway. It fits his intelligence.

It's not so much 'what they get" as it is "what they don't lose"

If they don't fight Obamacare, no matter what, their lunatic fringe will abandon them, and then they'll no hope of winning enough elections.

Their base is basically old people, particularly old white men - a demographic that is literally dying off. They need every vote they can get. They can't afford to lose any votes.

Yeah, yeah. Dems said the exact same thing about the GOP in the 70s, the 80s, the 90s and now again today. And if republicans aren't a majority of the people and the majority of the people are against Obamacare, kinda busts your whole meme doesn't it.

Read the poll data, the blame is rising fairly evenly. GOP 7% rise, Democrats 5% rise. Well within the margin of error. Not surprising the President is remaining unscathed, the dude could sprout red horns and a spiked tail and 40% will still approve of him.

I think it is a little different than that. They have made huge promises to the lunatic fringe they cannot actually get anymore. The lunatic fringe lives in a fantasy land where what they want they always get no matter what. Unfortunately by promising them all that stuff they took on the responsibility for that group and if that group forms it's own party in the fringe they will pull enough cotes from purple areas to make them blue, and to make red areas purple. The new party will also take some red areas for itself and this will lead to a dem powerhouse and a 2 party opposition to them that doesn't get along. I do not think that the lunatic fringe is going to go blue. I think the reality is not that they will lose people, but that they have lost their party's power and now they are trying desperately to pretend they have something left to make their last bargains with. It is a subtle difference, but this is why they have to play their bluff out because admitting they have already lost it all would mean potentially missing the last few concessions they can wring out of the fed.

Their illusion of power needs to be broken to throw out whatever independent people still vote with them and hopefully establish a new moderate party for those people who do not want the dems running away with crazy spending. I do hope that the dems have realized it is going to hurt to put the death blow on the republicans and shatter their american dream of hatred and prejudice because real change is not some happy thing where everyone wins. There is going to be a loser and in this case they are poor losers.

You are believing in bad polling questions skewed to make you think people just hate Obamacare. People can think Obamacare sucks, but is better than nothing which the polls do not ask. if you ask most people if they do not like Obamacare the answer is probably going to be that it sucks. It is not great. it is not even good. If you ask that same person if they want to return to the pre-obamacare days they are going to say something is better than nothing. You thibnk that because obamacare is bad that nothing is good. That is your problem.

To put an analogy on it. Prison food sucks. If you offer it to a starving person out on the street they will eat it because nothing is worse. The sooner people like you wake up to the polling lie that is being told to you by people who want to pretend nothing is better than something because it cuts into their profits the better you will be at evaluating the real problems and why republicans are losing this fight.

Shocking what the GOP expects to get out of this when you have such a strong economic recovery under Obamas leadership and the greatest piece of legislation in the history of the known world and even in the unknown world or worlds. For example when we start traveling to other planets and discover that other beings inhabit the universe with their own laws and legislation, it won't even come close to matching Obamacare or if we get sucked into a black hole which turns out to be a time warp sending us a million years into the future, all we will see is people or alien beings still thankful for Obamacare. So based on this, I think the GOP will tank and predict another of many more to come Obama victories...

Actually, the extremists have all but taken over the Republican caucus. Boehner is cowing to them instead of keeping them under control; this is the first time in history that the extremist wing of a party has usurped the power of the speaker and taken over the caucus. They're destroying the party, yes, but Jim DeMint and Ted Cruz don't really care because they know they'll get fat funding checks from their financial backers and are confident in their reelection in their gerrymandered districts.

Oddly, many are for ACA, and the same polls show people want the things in the bill. Like many things, this is more complicated than just being for or against. The poison of misinformation has been quite effective here.

That's why Obama gets the blame for everything the Executive branch screws up...oh, wait...

LOL. Lets review things for a minute. The House meets it's constitutional responsibilities and passed several bills that would fund the government. The House is a separate part of a three part government and is under no legal or moral obligation to pass a bill that the Senate and the President want passed. None. The Senate and the president are refusing to even try to meet their constitutional responsibilities because apparently they don't respect or have much use for the Constitution and refuse to accept the fact that the House is not a rubber stamp for them. Their non-actions have resulted in a partial government shutdown.

In the meantime clowns on the far left side of the fence call the GOP "extremists", lunatic fringe", practicing "extremism". and failing to meet "personal responsibility". All while the House has meet it's legal and moral duty as part of a separate but equal type of government. Never mind the other two parts of the government have made little effort to meet their responsibilities other than to say "my way or the highway". The Senate has no such constitutional power to demand that. The President has no such constitutional power to demand that. But the one part of the government that has meet their obligations are the ones classified by the left wing loons as radicals. Shows just how "extreme" and "lunatic" and irresponsible the far left is they support the misfits who refuse to do what is required to meet their constitutional responsibilities.

What is Obama's approval rating this morning? Twenty, what?

Gingrich: The startling CNN poll on the shutdown - CNN.com

I'm very glad the liberals around here think they are winning. Please keep pronouncing your victory. Please encourage all other liberals to dance to the closure of monuments, denial of benefits to fallen soldiers families and the dreaded "shut down" while your dictator continues to refuse to discuss the issue. I hope they can keep this "shut down" going, and I hope they refuse to raise the debt ceiling so the dictator can find 20% of govt to cut out completely when its illegal for him to over spend.

The funny thing is the article is completely off base, polls are starting to swing toward blaming Obama and the Democrats...

LOL. Stupid, whimsical, childish, liberal losers. Probably taking in too much waft of that Colorado medicinal air.

Obama's polls are tanking, and his lies about social security being cut off (which can't and won't happen, by law) are ringing hollow.

In addition, I LOVE the fact that Ted "I don't like Green eggs and Ham" Cruz...thought his stunt would propel him to the front of the GOP pack for their Presidential nominee....now has a 16% approval rating. DOH! Greatest self-destruction since Bobby "Deer in Headlights" Jindal.

Ah, but are they opposed to the Affordable Care Act?
