Sharp Words Over Shutdown When Lawmaker Visits WWII Memorial

The universe is ours right now.
You have no idea what you are talking about. There haven't been " stamps" to pay for food for decades.
The SNAP program for food assistance uses what looks like a credit card ... not "stamps" . It is a holdover misnomer.
Any illegal purchases would show up immediately in the purchase record and retailers would be admonished and fined.
The worst that can happen is that a SNAP participant can buy food with their SNAP card and sell it at a discounted price to someone who is not on the program...OMG someone who can't afford full price food gets to eat! What an abuse!
The fact is that the recent SNAP program cuts the republicons passed took food out of the mouths of 170,000 Veterans and 5000 veteran families. A full 47% of the people who will be receiving less food now are children under 18 and 9% are senior citizens...
Aren't you proud?

Yeah I know what the "SNAP" program is - here in Illinois we call them "link cards."

What you fail to realize is that these fools with "SNAP" cards sell their cards for half of what they're worth and in many inner city bodegas (corner stores) those who own and run those joints have absolutely no problem charging someone for 5 dollars worth of groceries in exchange for a bottle of beer while they stick those groceries right back on the shelf...

If seen it happen for YEARS... It's just a basic circumvention of the program - or what progressives would call a "loophole"...

To make matters worse no democrat alderman or legislators give a **** about it...

I bet you like breathing air.
You know who else liked breathing air? Hitler.
Now there's a powerful argument --- to nowhere. Know who else likes breathing air? EVERYONE. :doh

That's the point of my comment genius. Check out what was said by the person I quoted.

I don't understand how this ties in to the commentary, But Sarah if you don't get a little more clear in your statements you may lose votes the next time.

Hang in there hon, don't let anyone confuse you

Well I'm glad you recognize the superiority of my intellect. P.S. I read both. My point stands as valid as ever.

I see. So your point was to ignore the dumb comment and chastise the following comment shedding light on it's stupidity. Because the dumb comment came from the right. Gotcha. lol

Actually I was commenting on the dumb comment you think was an intelligent response to another [supposedly] dumb comment.

It also doesn't need staff. It isn't going anywhere and doesn't even require maintenance.

I can see it more with the Grand Canyon because people can get hurt there, and there won't be rescue services available, but the WWII memorial, there was no reason to close it.

If the case can be made that before the shutdown, there were employees protecting the memorial so nobody vandalized it, then maybe but I don't think that is the case.

Exactly the point. There's nobody available to maintain it. You've already acknowledged that it requires maintenance. So are you feigning confusion in order to facilitate disruption of this thread?

If you would have posted my whole post instead of taking a quote out of context, then people would know I already answered that by saying the maintenance was funded by the WW2 memorial builders so closure of the memorial was an asinine move by the park service. I guess you like spreading confusion about in actuality no need for you feign any on your part at all. Unless of course you are illiterate. You don't even feign that either.

He should consider himself lucky she was classy enough to hold her tongue. Nice to know that, instead of doing their job, Republican Congressman are trolling DC, cameras in tow, to belittle federal workers.

Yeah, because liberals in DC would n-e-v-e-r consider getting in front of a camera in DC to demagogue their opponents....

I wasn't aware that the National Park Service became a political opponent of the GOP.
