Someone needs to inform that little lady that there are times when you don't compromise.

No, it has to be true, because it's just so dang precious.

Says he who wrote the article:

As Jon Stewart pointed out last night , what upset the media, and specifically the Fox News crowd concerning the sequester, was the cancelled White House tours, not the higher loss of work that resulted, nor the cuts made to unemployment benefits, housing aid, and educational programs.

The White House tours merely being closed isn't what was objected to. It was Obama going out of his way to shuffle around the sequester cuts to make them seem as visible and dire as possible. The White House tours didn't have to be closed; Obama specifically chose them. What was objected to was the stunt, not the absence of the tours.

The National Parks could be open tomorrow; the House has offered to pass separate funding for it, just like they did for the military, which was passed by both houses and signed into law. But the Senate and Obama have both pledged to kill any such bill.

Shutting down the government over playing 'hide and seek' is the biggest joke on earth

Yes, when you're dealing with the enemy. But you can't possibly want political parties to treat each other like the enemy. All the people on the Hill have been elected by people and they represent a proportion of the population.

Who cares? This ain't elementary school. Seriously, this is important or even newsworthy, why? Maybe only cuz it exposes the Democrats and President as fools.

This applies to Republicans: "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time"....Abraham Lincoln.

Stow it...only the Democrats are refusing to fund the government. Plain and simple and end of story.

Yes, because the Republicans are just saints here.

The Democrats aren't the ones attempting to subvert legislation. Not plain, not simple, and NOT the "end of story," champ.

I do not see either party as "attempting to subvert legislation". On the other hand, the House seems to be trying to achieve its goals in a constitutional fashion. Comparing it with blackmail seems to me to give the argument an unpleasant spin.

Obamacare is an unconstitutional fascist disaster

You should be thanking Republicans for standing up for liberty

I didn't say blackmail. "Do what we want or we shut down the government" is extortion. "Do what we want or we crash the economy" is blackmail.

True.

We can thank rush limbaugh for putting the notion in conservatives' heads that Republicans actually stood up for liberty, as opposed to merely pretending to oppose obamacare to get votes.

LOL. Okay.

The first part of that post was true--obama is a disaster.

But the forum crashes with the message "LOL limit has been exceeded" when looking at the part where he claims that the GOP is "standing up for liberty."

She already knows better than to vote for GOP shills as opposed to true Libertarians.

I wouldn't quite say he's a disaster. I think he's ineffectual, is terrible at actually registering with people who wouldn't ordinarily like him or agree with him. But "disaster," to me, implies "if he's not stopped, we're all screwed." And quite frankly, I think that kind of alarmism is wildly overblown. And the term "fascist" in that part of the post in question is total claptrap.
