Obama Address the Nation on the government shutdown.

Because if you're not offering something in return then it's blackmail. Unless the GOP can get 60 votes in the Senate, control of the house, and control of the Presidency the ACA is going into effect. It's already law. And while one could argue that the Democrats compromised by giving up a single payer system, it's really irrelevant to the present debate. We are where we are.

But really, this is just a dress rehearsal for the debt ceiling. .

Something which both sides do.

Also you should note that "blackmail" is a far more accurate word than "terrorist". ;)

And you called how they rammed the passage of that law past congress "democracy." Really - you'd make fascist stalin proud.

As I feared, you and your side has decided that America's form of Govt. is not for them. We have a word for those types and it is not pretty.

7 years ago the shoe was on the other foot. Does the same un-pretty word still apply?

Not screwed up at all. Terrorists often take hostages to try to negotiate things that they don't have a right to negotiate. This is exactly what the Republicans are trying to do here.

No, terrorists use violent acts to try and get what they want. Where is the violence being done here?

Once again your facts are wrong. I guess it is easy to "support" your position when you make up your own statistics.

You should take a look at the facts....under a Democratic Governor, California now has a budget surplus after years of deficits under Republican control.

A budget surplus that doesn't pay down the debt? That is liberal math and typical of what I expect from you. When was the last time the Republicans controlled the purse strings of California?

Interesting how projected surpluses always equal more debt in the long run. Interesting math skills your state has.

LOL. I have made mistakes in my life, like everyone. Nowadays I can't believe that back in the 80's I actually did vote for a couple of democrats. That was a bad idea on my part. But I won't repeat that bad idea ever again.

You voted for Reagan instead and he just mandated that hospitals must treat every patient no matter what their insurance of financial status. Who do you think pays for that?

I thought that came from a SCOTUS decision.

Stealing 800,000 workers income against their will is pretty nasty stuff. I think I will just take your paycheck for a few weeks and see if you think it is "violent" enough.

The people of the state, not the Federal taxpayers thus making the issue of the uninsured a state issue, not a federal one.

Glad to see that the mandate in the ACA is stealing ones' paycheck and you now agree that Obamacare is a disaster.

Yes yes..mandates on individual financial responsibility (car insurance, health insurance).....is totalitarian.

What hippie response.

LOL The New right is now the "flower power" generation.

The shutdown is what is swindling 800,000 workers out of their paychecks and you know it. What did they do to you?

Now see this is a matter of "certain points of view". In my POV Obamacare already steals from my checks and Obamacare is doing that to millions of people. What is your 800,000 compared to a minimum of 200 million? (not counting children as they don't have checks)

Wrong again. YOU and I pay for it when we pay our health insurance premiums. And it is top dollar emergency room fees too.

For the sake of discussion, what's the difference between blackmail and terrorism?

Well, that depends. Much of the time the patient without insurance pays for whatever treatment they got. As it should be.

I'm all for negotiating what to do about those that don't pay but Obama is not.

BTW, you don't really think that Obamcare is going to stop this from happening do you? If so you know not enough about this law. It won't. What this law will do however is sting the taxpayer twice instead of once. Once for paying for others insurance and the second time for paying for people without insurance, just as always.

Obamacare is a taxpayers worst nightmare.

It hasn't even taken effect and yet you still make stuff up and think you know? 800,000 Govt. employees went without pay today. What did they do to you?

The shutdown is what is swindling 800,000 workers out of their paychecks and you know it. What did they do to you?

then ask "your" president why he did it? Ask "your" President why he exempted supporters and various contributors including the unions through negotiation but will not negotiate with the "Peoples House?"

LOL. If you are talking about federal gov't employees you are wrong. They always end up getting paid for not showing up at work.

But what did those people that lost their jobs, can't find a job or have had their hours reduced because of Obamacare do to you?

Wrong again. YOU and I pay for it when we pay our health insurance premiums. And it is top dollar emergency room fees too.

That is very true, all state issues since states control the insurance policies in their state. You have been brainwashed by an ideology and ignore actual reality.

Temporary exemptions don't mean ****. There is no way any President would repeal his own laws under such duress. It is ludicrous to think otherwise.
The "people's" House has lost its people anyway. They have been replaced by gerrymandering and soft money.

And apparently there is no way you ever are going to understand the facts. The uninsured expenses are paid for by the people of the states in which those expenses occurred thus making this a state issue not a federal issue. Nothing you say or imagine is ever going to change that.

Temporary exemptions? Tell me where those exemptions are listed in the ACA and why Obama negotiated them? Why don't the American people get the same opportunity to be exempted from the program? The "People's House" is controlled by the Republicans, a fact that liberals like you want to ignore.

Boehner flip-flops on federal exemption to aides after negotiating for it for months.

That is where you are wrong, both sides have every right to negotiate. Obama caused the shut down by refusing, in advance, to negotiate, a terrible character flaw of his, and we are all paying for it.

They gave in on the defunding? Demanding one thing and then demanding less is not compromise. Its like a spoiled child demanding 10 cookies, and then demanding 2 when their parent says no.

All you've done is described what the Republicans are demanding. The question is what are they willing to give up. What is their leverage?

They gave up on defunding obamacare. They went from giving absolutely nothing for Obamacare to extending the implementation for 1 year, just as Obama himself has done for so many provisions of the law.

Again I ask, what have the Dems compromised on? Nothing. Their stance is still all or nothing. Well looks like they have nothing right now doesnt it? No continuing budget resolution to fund the government and no funding for Obamacare.

But yet they are still blaming the Republicans for it.
