Ted Cruz launches faux filibuster as Senate readies spending bill vote

Except that Cruz' filibuster, which technically was not a filibuster (confused yet? - LOL), lasted a little over an hour. What the hell was that? Was THAT the amount of time he was able to stand on his feet? Jesus!! I know people who stood in line for hours just to get an iPhone. Cruz - You are a *****. LOL.

Article is here.

This guy gives phony posturing an entirely new definition.

 yeah, yeah we know...If we dain to disagree with 'dear leader', we are "dumb, backwoods, racist, rednecks, that probably couldn't wipe our asses correctly without direction"..... What a crock.
except for the word 'probably', i finally agree with one of your posts

When Cruz read Green Eggs and Ham aloud, it was the closest he had gotten to a cogent argument in his entire career.

The irony of Cruz reading a poem about a person with irrational prejudices against something, which are finally dispelled when he experienced it and found out it was good ,went right over his head.

Last in what category? Keep buying the liberal lies and ignore the facts. You really shouldn't be talking about issues you don't understand. No matter how many times you claim it the State of TX has the highest number of FEDERAL minimum wage jobs not actual minimum wage jobs but that fact escapes you. California has three times as many people making California minimum wage and you try living on $8 an hour there. Better tell that to the Fortune 500 businesses moving to TX that we are simply a service economy unless of course you mean the medical profession being service.

By the way you have yet to prove me wrong on any issue.

I have traveled all over the country in my business career, moved to TX in 1992 and unlike you, I appreciate what I have here. This was the best move of my life.

You have been proved wrong that Perry created the most minimum wage jobs! Oh and this dead last in Insurance coverage!

Most uninsured Americans live in states that won’t run their own Obamacare exchanges | Pew Research Center

The sad thing is Romneycare is doing well in Mass and that was the blueprint for Obamacare. Go ahead keep making an ass out of yourself!

When it comes to Obamacare Harry Reid gets it. When first considered he did everything he could to keep the discussion off the floor and in the back rooms. Now he cuts off Cruz to silence the opposition. While Reid does plenty of dirt dumb things, he's smart enough to know that the less Obamacare is talked about in an official senate function in public, the better for Obamacare.

Do you have any idea the number in the labor force in TX and how many are making Federal Minimum wage? You seem to believe that is a bad thing whereas I believe living off the taxpayers is a bad thing. You want badly to believe what liberals tell you but the reality is quite different. Why aren't you holding liberals to the same standards as you hold conservatives and why didn't you respond to my post on California minimum wages which have triple the number as TX.

As for uninsured I listed a statement here about my employees that you ignored. Further I posted a question as to how many people eligible for insurance who CHOOSE not to participate are classified as not insured. That answer is easily found so don't you think you ought to find that answer before making a further fool of yourself? Is it your position that personal choice only matters when it comes to choosing to end the life of a fetus? Why aren't those who choose not to participate in insurance held to the same standard in your world?

you think Romneycare is doing well in MA? How do you know that? Any idea what the costs are in MA? you think having insurance insures quality and service? IF MA is doing so well then why isn't this a state responsibility since state taxpayers pay for the uninsured not the Federal Taxpayer?

Like all liberals it would be much better if you started thinking with the brain God gave you vs. only your heart

Those so called big mouth idiots as you call them, changed the makeup of the House. If it wasn't for those "big mouth idiots" there would have been no stops in place to keep the Democrats and Obama from making all those "changes" they long for. Why it was because of a Democrat Congress and Obama in two short years that gave us Obamacare. In the Senate, Republicans won four seats held by retiring Democrats and Republicans defeated two incumbent Democrats during the last mid-term election thanks to the efforts by the Tea Party. This was the largest number of Republican gains since the 1994 elections and also the first time since that election that Republicans successfully defended all of their own seats. So you obviously don't know what you are talking about.

Number one, I never said all the Tea Party candidates elected were "big mouths" or problems. In fact, I admire many if not pretty much all of them because they have stuck to the principles by which they were elected and stuck to the wishes of the constituents in their districts who sent them to Washington. Not all of them by any stretch are big mouth fools and it's foolish of you to take my comments about one Senator and extrapolate that over the entire Tea Party contingent in congress.

Number two, Republicans lost seats in the last election both in the House and in the Senate. Particularly, in the Senate, they lost multiple seats they should have won had they not primaried out viable candidates that had been proven winners and not primaried in unelectible buffoons in races where the Democrat candidate was easily defeatable. Missouri and the "preventable rape" ignoramous quickly comes to mind as an example.

Finally, if you don't realize that since 1994 the Republicans actually gained and then lost control of the Senate you've got no business telling me I don't know what I'm talking about. But you continue to find pride in "losing by less" in the past election. You're probably one of those great Republican minds who talks glowingly about Obama winning less of the vote in 2012 than he did in 2008 as if that's somehow a great accomplishment.

Green eggs, and Ham...A classic tale of a kid being forced to eat something he doesn't want to....Kinda fits...Anyway, why the animosity if he is not holding anything up? Doesn't he have 1st amendment rights?

You want to see all the lefties really get in an uproar? Let him start at page one and read aloud the entire ACA....That'll get some ire....

Honestly, I didn't see it as related to the ACA, but ok. He's being forced to eat something he doesn't want, but then...
Say!
I like green eggs and ham!
I do!! I like them, Sam-I-am!
And I would eat them in a boat!
And I would eat them with a goat...
And I will eat them in the rain.
And in the dark. And on a train.
And in a car. And in a tree.
They are so good so good you see!

So I will eat them in a box.
And I will eat them with a fox.
And I will eat them in a house.
And I will eat them with a mouse.
And I will eat them here and there.
Say! I will eat them ANYWHERE!

I do so like
green eggs and ham!
Thank you!
Thank you,
Sam-I-am

He will then end up liking the ACA. :)

I'll take that bet... Jeb won't be the next President.

I was discussing Cruz, a Cuban American which only gringos think is 'close enough' to mexican to pull the Vast majority of the Hispanic vote...

Cruz is the bigger 'threat' to good governance as he is sticking to the TP radical right position. Cruz is being talked up as a new leader for the GOP, I'll wager a shiny nickle he will be the New Messiah that will lead the GOP to the Promise Land.

Can't say I've heard much about Rubio of late...

Cruz has ZERO chance of being the Republican Presidential Nominee in my lifetime, let alone in 2016.

I couldn't disagree with you more.

The very premise of Obamacare is an affront to individual liberty and the basic freedom that this Republic was founded to preserve. People need to take a stand against this kind of thing and I commend Sen. Cruz for doing just that.

If they'd have done that before it was passed, it might've prevented the **** storm that's about to befall us. At the very least, it would've affected the previous election.

Do not put any absurdity beyond the reach of the new tea party driven GOP. Remember who ran as the VP candidate last time and the time before. We're talking weirdos.

That answer is easily found so don't you think you ought to find that answer before making a further fool of yourself? t

Then post the answer lest ye look like the fool.

So what was the point of this speech again?

The people here who are supporting Obamacare are supporting it because they have no idea what is in that program, are thinking only with their hearts, and have received marching orders from the liberal elites. These same pro Obamacare supporters wouldn't be so positive if a Conservative govt. dictated legislation created behind closed does and implemented almost solely with one party support. Interesting how all these so called individual rights people don't seem to have any problem with a massive Central govt. dictating the terms of a healthcare program that will impact their lives in their individual community. Just goes to show how many have been brainwashed by a failed ideology.

So what was the point of this speech again?

He got to talk about why he believes the ACA sucks for 23 hours, and we are in turn all talking about it today. The procedural vote was set for 1pm today regardless of what transpired since ~2pm yesterday, and the cloture vote will happen on Saturday.

You're probably one of those great Republican minds who talks glowingly about Obama winning less of the vote in 2012 than he did in 2008 as if that's somehow a great accomplishment.

That was a big deal. It proved that millions of American voters were capable of smarting up. With the damage Obama has done and is doing, there is at least hope that many more voters will continue to smartin' up.

They should be forced to pee their pants or give up the podium. That's the American way!!
.

That's why they used to call filibustering "Taking to the diaper."

Sorry - losers are losers. Perhaps you forget that fewer people voted for the Republican candidate too, or is that just something you file away as too hard to rationalize? Maybe if so many idiotic loser candidates hadn't been primaried into winnable Senate races by fools, more honest, hardworking, reasonable Republicans would have come to the polls in those states and helped get Romney elected. The fact that Obama, the most incompetent dolt to sit in the Oval Office in my lifetime, was reelected after all the evidence provided in his first four years tells any sane person that Republicans accomplished nothing positive in the 2012 elections and it's crazy to pretend they did.

Now THATS what I call living in an alternate reality!!

Ted got his moment. Good for him. McConnell only allowed him to do so because he knew it wouldn't pass the way it was, so let your guy have his fun, get his point out there and move on.

He hates Obama and doesn't really have another thought in his head. I.e., he's a thoroughly modern conservative.

That's pretty much it.

Actually, I d modify that a not:

His hate for Obama is greater than his love for the welfare of the nation. That's the modern day conservative...
