Boy punished for air soft guns in yard

Re: Boy expelled for air soft guns in yard

I wouldn't let my kid play with paint ball guns in the front yard. They cause too much damage.

Fine, but I don't see how that is any of the school's business one way or the other.

Re: Boy expelled for air soft guns in yard

I can't wait to see this defended. It seems zero tolerance should be for the real thing. Boys have been known to show up with real guns in back packs. No tolerance for that is appropriate.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A seventh grade Virginia Beach student previously suspended for shooting an airsoft gun has been expelled, WAVY.com has learned.

During a hearing Tuesday morning, Aidan Clark was expelled in a unanimous vote. The fate of Khalid Caraballo remains unknown at this time.

Like thousands of others in Hampton Roads, Khalid Caraballo plays with airsoft guns. Caraballo and his friend Aidan were suspended because they shot two other friends who were with them while playing with the guns as they waited for the school bus.

The two seventh graders say they never went to the bus stop; they fired the airsoft guns while on Caraballo's private property.

Aidan’s father, Tim Clark, told WAVY.com what happened next lacks commons sense. The children were suspended for possession, handling and use of a firearm.

That's some Liberal bs right there. I would get it if they brought them to school, but come explosion? That's a extreme.

Re: Boy expelled for air soft guns in yard

Or until Big Government takes your rights away in the name of "safety and security"

Nobody has a "right" to shoot an airsoft gun, for God's sake. And, like all rights (even if it were somehow Constitutionally guaranteed), the right to shoot an airsoft gun ends where my nose begins.

Re: Boy expelled for air soft guns in yard

Why bad parenting?

Allowing your children to play with replica guns that shoot real projectiles at high speeds unsupervised is bad parenting, IMO. These aren't "pop guns". They shoot the pellet at high velocity, like a BB gun.

I don't either and I think they overstepped their bounds on this.

I am sure the father can sue and get his kid back in school, but it will be very expensive.

Re: Boy expelled for air soft guns in yard

This is not a school issue, they shouldn't have been involved at all. Hope the parents lawyer up and sue the the living crap out of the school.

Re: Boy expelled for air soft guns in yard

It's all innocent fun until somebody puts an eye out.

Airsoft????? You have to stick the barrel in the kids eye. It aint even a BB gun.

How can you think a 6 to 8mm plastic bb entering your eye socket at 170 to 550 feet per second isn't dangerous? Without eye protection, they're dangerous.

First they came for your real guns, then the BB guns, and finally the nerf guns.. Damn bastards.. ;)

Airsoft pellets don't go at "high velocity" unless you have high end stuff used for training and even then its velocities are less than a BB guns and more importantly the projectiles they shoot lose whatever little energy they have VERY quickly. The stuff sold as toys are just that toys. You really have to be trying to hurt yourself to get hurt with one of those. Like breaking it into a sharp object trying.

That is neither the topic or point of the op! The boy being expelled for the rest of the school year on a firearms charge IS!!

Where did you get the incredibly stupid idea that airsoft = nerf.

They were suspended, not expelled. Read the story. The headline is bull****.

Is this the toy version or the replica version? There seems to be a conflict with regard to the description.

Define "highspeed". I had a BB gun when I was young and a range set up in our back yard. Still have both eyes and never hurt anyone.
But it also never went out in the "front" yard either.

Bull****. I suggest you retake your physics classes, you forgot a WHOLE bunch. To hurt themselves they would have to be literally be shot point blank in the eye. And even then they would be hard pressed to be seriously hurt. They should NEVER have been suspended let alone expelled. Hell what if they went hunting for squirrels or rabbits with a .22 on their time and property? They should be expelled then? If so then you would have to expel half the students in the states Idaho Montana and Wyoming. Its a bunch of horse crap is what this whole situation is.

Re: Boy expelled for air soft guns in yard

Have parents and administrators lost their minds? This is getting out of control. Thank God my kid is grown up.

I can remember growing up playing war games, dodge ball, king of the hill, etc. Sometimes someone brought a sling shot to school for show and tell.

Guess super soakers are out of the question for school also:mrgreen:

Parents should teach there kids what is play and what is real when it comes to life.

I think I long for the 50's and 60's for kids today as far as growing up.

me too, we carried pocket knives with no incidents, I even carrried shotguns and rifles in my truck to school so we could hunt afterwards. But those were the days of true discipline before liberal ideas took over stripping faculty and administrators of any power to take care of the kids with ****ty parents.

Re: Boy expelled for air soft guns in yard

Define "highspeed".

High speed = any speed that even a moron can conclude is high speed. How's that for a definition?

Bully for you.
