Gas prices set record: 1,000 days above $3 a gallon

You guys are missing the point....Obama specifically predicted what he was going to do concerning energy, he projected that energy prices would "necessarily skyrocket".... Through tax
Federal tax on gas has not changed under either of the last two presidents:

The federal gas tax has remained steady at 18.4 cents per gallon for the last 16 years.
Federal Gas Tax Passes Another Milestone: What Is The Future? - Forbes

and increased regulations that is exactly what is happening
But it's not happening. You want people to believe a lie. Gas prices have been between $3 and $4 for years now under Obama, just like they were for a couple of years at the end of Bush's run as President. The financial crash of 2008, predictably, saw gas prices fall significantly, but once the stock market recovered, so did gas prices. The price of gas per gallon has been relatively unchanged for roughly a year now.

and instead of honest looking at this, the usual suspects are doing the usual thing, blaming Bush
I'm not blaming Bush, just noting the fact the price of gas rose $3 during his presidency and comparing that to the relatively stable price gas has been under Obama.

using Bush as a comparison (even though Obama has seen the longest high price records ever)
No, YOU use Bush as a comparison. Your entire thread is a comparison of Obama to former presidents. Be honest already.

I am spending $60 per week on gas for two vehicles to get my wife and I to work, and back. That's in a 4 week month $240.00.
Then get a job that's closer. Ride your bike more. It's not Obama's fault you have the job you have nor is it Obama's fault you don't ride your bike.

That works out to the kind of expendable cash that I can't spend in the economy on entertainment, goods, services, vacations, etc. Not to mention groceries (something I know a little about because I deliver some of what y'all buy at the grocery store) have risen as much as 30% to 40% from last year alone. This is due in no small measure to transportation costs.
Actually, food costs went up significantly last year because of massive droughts across the country. This is well-known and documented. Please try a little harder if you're going to insist on spreading mistruths.

You greenies, where is the propane powered vehicles? Where are the cheaper alternatives? Obama sure did make it a point to give a lot of my tax money to these companies that were supposed to be developing these things, and now nothing?
If by "nothing" you mean:

Here's the real news: The price of solar decreased by 50 percent during 2011! 50 percent! That's a game-changing number that has resulted in a jump in installations throughout the U.S. and Europe, according to a recent Bloomberg report. Indeed, here in the U.S., new spending on solar energy jumped more than 30 percent to $55.9 billion in 2011, surpassing the 1 percent gain in China to $47.4 billion. These are astounding numbers and show real movement and vindication for President Obama's solar policies. Bring costs down -- and people will buy it.
Brian Keane: Obama's Solar Story Shows Success, Not Failure

...then sure. Whatever.

Except my tax money is gone
Uhh, it was already gone. You're not very good with honesty when it comes to money, are you? Or is it just Obama you have a hard time being honest about?

and more and more we are served up another story on how the millions, or billions given to a company like this that went belly up, was actually owned by another Obama crony....
All the while ignoring the fact that most of them are still in business and some are doing well. I know that goes against the dishonest narrative you like to push, but it matters to people who care about the truth.

Bush is gone damn it, this is OBAMA! And I am damned tired of being played by him and his disingenuous political bull!
So...you DON'T want to talk rationally about this then?

There are 49 counties with higher gas prices than the US. Norway at $10.08 is the highest, Germany at $8.01 is 12th. Korea at $6.44 is 30th.

Want a better deal on gas? Venezuela at 4¢, Egypt for $1.00.

Yes, now do the 10 year chart (or see it below where I posted it) and include the gas prices under Bush. You'll find that until the financial market crash of 2008, gas prices were roughly the same as they are now. Like I said.

Why is it so hard for you people to be honest?

THANK YOU!!!! Well that certainly puts to rest all of the "gas price has been level", "Inflation dollars", "Obama didn't do it".....CRAP!
No, it doesn't. Look at the 10 year chart.

Like I said, gas prices now are roughly where they were before the economic collapse of 2008. As the stock market as recovered, so have gas prices gone up. It amazes me the ridiculous lengths people will go to serve their agenda.

One way to lower the price of gasoline would be to require anyone who buys oil to be required to take delivery of all oil purchases before selling.

I live in California. I wish we were paying the national average.

Here is a snip of the bottom of the national average price per gallon by metro area, available here:

I'm sorry sly, but I don't play this game. It's really rather juvenile to use statement like "why can't you be honest".

Here is the chart for 10 years. Note the trend. You're mistaken in your claims.

I'll run along. As I wrote, I don't do the scramble game.

Gasoline tax hadn't changed in freaking decades. Much of the new normal?

True, that is why now is seen as a great time to raise it.

Some policy experts believe that an increased tax is needed to fund and sustain the country's transportation infrastructure. The National Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing Commission issued a detailed report[7] in February 2009

An increased cost of fuel would also encourage less consumption. A growing fiscal and national security concern is America's dependence on foreign oil. Americans sent nearly $430 billion to other countries in 2008 for the cost of imported oil.

Yes, and like I said, the price of gas before the economic collapse is roughly the same as it is now. For the two years before the collapse, we average roughly what we have now. Like I said from the beginning.

And what's juvenile is to take my statement where I have, many times, mentioned the average price before the collapse under Bush, and then not include those years in your chart, all so you can make a point and "be right" based on misrepresented information.

The fact is I'm right. The chart you posted shows it.

Gas prices depends on Uncle Sam's actions in policing the rest of the world.

You run with that sly. In fact, by looking at the chart, and your argument, you've proven the old adage that even a broken clock is right twice a day.

On that I would agree to a point...But then how do you do a business plan for transportation if you don't have a forecast of what future prices will be?

Only people/companies who can actually physically warehouse/store the barrels would be buying, so I don't think it would be that difficult because prices wouldn't fluctuate wildly like they do now. Speculators who currently buy and sell barrels of oil like they're stocks, but don't have the means to actually take delivery, would be out of the game.

I wonder if Germany is blaming Obama?? Really he does not control gas prices niether did Bush righties who claim this also chase their tail.

It would be interesting to see if that had the impact everyone says it would.

I think it would have a pretty good impact. If not lowering gasoline prices, at least stabalizing them.

While in retrospect, it is fairly apparent that the President does not control gas prices, I can see why Bush, who was closely linked to the oil profiteers, was suspect at the time. The effort to blame Obama follows the same mentality of those who claim Bush was behind 9/11. Very, very unlikely.

Gas prices, while not cheap, aren't that high in relativity to other commodities. How is it that $35 an ounce gold is now $1300? A nickel cup of coffee is now $2.39? It's just inflation, not a sinister plot.

I really feel for you in Cali....But I am envious of your states beauty, and lifestyle.

It is a rather compelling anchor all this beauty and good weather. Sunsets over the Pacific have tended to keep the feet firmly planted for decades.

You know, I appreciate your concern for me. I'll take your recomendation under advisement.
You're welcome. Best of luck on your decision.

It's BHO's overall wretched economic management that makes him suspect. Permanent high unemployment and responsibility for 36% of the national debt throughout our entire history: more national debt than any other POTUS.:peace

My post was hardly laden with praise for Fearless Leader. We're specifically discussing the retail price of gasoline. Are you asserting that Obama has directly influenced the price of gas? Because that specifically is what I was "debating". I even went out of my way to state that Bush had been FALSELY accused of manipulating gas prices.
:peacelikewise.

I have no brief for either GWB or BHO. My only point was that BHO's poor performance -- dramatically poorer than GWB's -- renders him vulnerable to popular suspicion.:peace

Understanding that I have no use for Bush or Obama, can you tell me what Bush actions (and results) were "better" than Obama's? I'm interested specifically in "dramatically different" policies and results thereof.
