LMAO, Putin cut and ran when he saw a chance... if the Cons weren't so partisan they would call it what it is... a run away. Obama is dealing with the situation without invading. I realize many cons want this to be 'as bad' as Iraq, but that ain't happening... :2wave:

Right now Russia's credibility on ME diplomacy is at a peak. They are allied with Syria and Iran. Iran wants nukes and now they will have them unopposed. Syria will keep its chem weapons (these international coalitions overseeing such things NEVER work out). The result here is a lot like what we got after we pulled out of Iraq in 1991. The brutal dictator is still running the show and the international community will pretend to hold hold him accountable. No matter what Obama does or doesn't do... he will be blamed..

But the US and Obama have never had any control over the Arab Spring.. or the young dissidents who initially protested and demanded reforms... Nor could the US control the promises that Assad made 2 years ago about reforms and elections.

The objective shouldn't be to control those processes, it should be to encourage beneficial outcomes, discourage problematic outcomes and to support individual liberty worldwide.

We have encouraged beneficial outcomes.... but the Druze, Shia, Sunni, Alawite, Christian factions are at each other's throats... and the rest of the Syrians are just trying to survive.
 
Look how the fright-wing Loons jumped on 4 Deaths, as bad as that is. It's sick to think they want Obama to fail so our Military Personnel suffer losses so they can jump more.
Repubs compare their Iraqi dead to Obama's Benghazi, as the USA compared enemy dead to ours in Vietnam, Or prisoner exchage between Palestinians and Arabs

There is no "want" in Obama to fail.

Obama has failed, in everything he has touched. At the end of the day, whenever that will be, his Syria misadventure will end in failure as well. The best that could have happened would have been for congress to voted no and for him to have gone and sat down in a corner and pouted for a day or two. The entire Syria crisis is one that Obama manufactured with his mouth and his decisions to appoint two incompetents to head his foreign policy team. Nobody from the right had anything to do with it.
