Obama team thought Iran would not tolerate Bashar Assad's use of WMDs [W:19]

The Iranians, Hezbollah, AQ, The Russians...plenty of bad guys around the world who are willing to take advantage our lack of resolve.

The appearance of a lack of resolve encouraged AQ to attack us on 9/11. Doing nothing has never worked.

I agree with you. However by now the world is well aware of the type idiot we elected as President. His mouth has painted our country into a corner that even if we had a competent state department to explain our positions to the world, there is no good way out. He attacks now, he's saving face, not doing the right thing even if it might be the right thing. And that's just how the world will see it and play it. Because of him, we lose from all angles on this. Best, and it's lousy, to just walk away and wait around for a competent president in three years.

Which screams to the bad guys, that the American people don't have any resolve, further encouraging the enemy to test the boundries, even more.

Oh, ok. Now it's the majority of Americans fault.

No, it screams to the fact that Obama often promises things that he will not deliver. Did Obama not promise to close GITMO, end the "Bush" tax rates and to bring those responsible for Benghazi to justice? Obama will do what Obama can get others to do for him - you must have patience, Grasshopper - plenty of patience.

There's going to be a huge price to pay because of Obama's indecision.

I'm not so sure.

Obama has waffled and wiggled and likely the blame will be put on him, not the American people. If Syria, or any Iran sponsored country, dares to attack Americans I think it's safe that the American people will respond mightily, with all the power they have at their disposal. Terrorists might be crazy but they are not necessarily stupid.

General Patraeus agress with me. Warriors think alike. We understand that if the tables were turned, we would exploit an opponent's weaknesses.

Response should be immediate and overwhelming, not discussed back and forth for weeks before any action is taken. If he wanted to make a point it should have been done long ago, with contingency plans made well in advance. Now it's just political face-saving and posturing. We need warriors to fight real wars, not political wars.

He also seems to be basing his intelligence on a video he saw, much like Benghazi.

It still is not clear what Obama hopes

Sure we'll respond; huge mistake, that. Just like WW2. But, we lost 400,000 Americans. I'll ask this question again: do we want to let things get that far out of control?

Things have been out of control for a few years now with over 100,000 people being killed. Now it is time to act?

I can understand the revulsion at people being gassed but responding weeks after the event does no real good. Assad has had plenty of time to prepare for air strikes and these strikes will do nothing to curtail the war or to enhance America's reputation as being tough on dictators. It is a symbolic gesture only and serves no definite purpose.

I'm a 'far right wing extremist', as you may know, so have no time for terrorists of any stripe, but timing is everything and the time for response has passed. It now rings hollow. Best to have had contingency plans available in order to strike quickly but this ineffectual President apparently had none, even when drawing that red line.

Howver, if it happens again, then bomb the bastards into that Hell they deserve.

Nah, he's a Secret Muslim. He has a Secret Allah Drone Launcher Ring to prove it. All the right-wingers say so.

Well that's cool, I never saw that ring, can you post a picture of it?

Those Secret Muslims are so sneaky they wear Secret Rings.

That's an amazingly new level of collectively naive stupidity. Stunningly so.

I really hope the administration isn't this naive, because this is embarrassing

And you wonder why Obama cant get any national or international support when you have this much ignorance in the administration.
who wants to follow an idiot into a war

Yeah, if this is true then your term "naive stupidity. Stunningly so." is appropiate. Myself I don't care what the world thinks, but I do care what Americans think and most Americans are against any kind of retaliation against Syria's Aasad. We have a huge debt problem and another war won't help that one bit. Personally I don't think the House will go along with his request and I think the senate is 50-50.
