Making a push to get people to join "Obamacare"

Re: The Big Push

Is the reality different from the official reson given?

BJs is a fairly large corporation, therefor, a straight answer is never the policy. However, what do you think is meant by the term "prevent future increases to company overhead", as it applies to edicts that involve reducing the number of employees who work 30 hours or more?

Re: The Big Push

I'll tell you what I think. I think that the new bread of MBA toting corporate CEOs are carelessly and callously bleeding the institutions that are/were once the American symbols of economic ingenuity and success, in a concerted effort for ever higher profit margins, because greed is good. They don't give a damn about America, it's people, and certainly not the companies they so vaingloriously suck dry. Why should they? They typically only work their a couple years, and why should they care about the US? It's just one of many countries in which they live.

Others are right. Full time employment has been on the wane for years. Before Obama, before Bush. Really, since the mid 80s. The affordable Health Care Act is just a piss poor attemp to respond to that problem. It's an attempt to decrease the workweek, as our government once did in the past with the federal overtime act. More part time positions = higher number of people employed. Makes congress critters look good, you know?

Re: The Big Push

Liberals see only free health care and they love it. They don't care who pays for it. Its a freebe from Obama.

Re: The Big Push

Assuming they can find employment that exceeds 29 hours a week from an employer that treats them fairly. Otherwise, they won't be able to buy anything at all regardless of quality and motivation.

You'd think that somewhere in the 2500 pages of technobabble, somebody might have thought of this problem.

Oh they knew it would happen. It's redistribution of what's left of the available labor hours. Give people almost enough so you can subsidize them and you've got complete control.

Re: The Big Push

Why do conservatives think everyone besides them are idiots?

You tried.....but your final two sentences are whack.

Re: The Big Push

Whooooaaaa there big boy. Extremists on both sides fit that definition. Neither your average conservative or liberal think everyone besides them are idiots.

It's the fringe elements that think so, or stereotype conservatives or liberals as you did above.

Conspiracy theories are never a good way to explain political events.

yeah, it's all a vast plot.

God, don't conservatives tire of their own ridiculous conspiracy theories. They don't even make sense on their own terms.

But if you have no coherent ideas and if your policies are vast failures, I guess shouting conspiracy theories is the only option.

Complete control of what? A failed and impoverished nation? I think you give them too much credit for being smart enough to control anything. I think they're actually dumb enough to have overlooked this little fly buzzing around in the ointment.

Look how inept they are. That's why you have these endless scandals. This is incompetence, not some insidious plot. Sure, there are wheels within the wheels but I doubt a 29 hour workweek was in the master plan.

Re: The Big Push

For the same reason that liberals tend to think that everyone besides them are evil. Both sides confuse opposition to their means with opposition to their motives.

As for labor hours, even the Unions (even Trumpka) are now coming out and admitting that Obamacare is destroying full-time employment. it's a reality. When you make it significantly more expensive for people to do something, they tend to reduce how much they will do it. To include hiring someone full time.

Re: The Big Push

After October 1st when your state has a healthcare exchange that you can shop, please come back in here and post about what you saw.

Except he won't see anything because in the endless series of small trainwrecks that are part of the Big Trainwreck that is this legislation, the exchanges have been delayed. Just like about 50% of Obamacares' other deadlines.

What percent of the population will be in these exchanges? How many of the folks who did not have insurance are in their 20's and 30's in good health and don't want to pay for insurance.

I can not accept the premise that with as many people as we have in the House, Senate and the executive branch that they are collectively that stupid. When you ask people in the real world what the results of these policies will be they tend to be similar within a narrow range. The scandals suggest arrogance, not stupidity. They are doing what they are doing because they expect they can get away with it.

Arrogance = Stupidity.

Get away with what exactly? Creating chaos? How is that a "good thing" for them?

"Never let a crisis go to waste". Creating an atmosphere where labor hours are reduced to the point where more people "need" government assistance is in the government's interests as it applies to the slave/ owner relationship. The term "wage slave" comes immediately to mind.

Re: The Big Push

Congratulations on putting your bottom line first, I guess? Me, I take care of my employees.

Show us the proof

Yep. SNAP and PPACA are not sold as simply ever more gov't dependence based on income redistribution, they are now sold as "creating oppotunities" for restoring America's greatness.

So, you are saying that "the government" is trying to bring back slavery? Why? Who benefits? Usually there is a money trail....who is getting paid for this and why?

What if you don't want to buy health insurance?

Re: The Big Push

No different than the below being levied on the entirety of modern business leaders:

Kevin said:

It's not just conservatives...I'm not a conservative and I think a lot of the nonsense in threads like this are obviously absurd. Do you think anyone can make a claim like Kevin above and be taken seriously? Or half the people who claim XYZ about running a business and employee benefits, meanwhile never having had to make those actual choices themselves in a meaningful way? Don't confuse intolerance of fools with simple ad hom...

Government "slave owners". Who gets paid and who benefits is who they choose. Plenty of evidence in that in the so called stimulus, Obamacare, government employee scandals, and so on. The why is the easiest of all, power. Corrupt at that.

It's easy to see in some of your examples. The stimulus stimulated the 1%. Obamacare is the gift to Pharma Corporations that keeps on giving. But I'm having more difficulty following the slavery value.

But, honestly, anything is possible.

Then obviously margins mean nothing to you, and you'll be out of business in no time, if you're not already.
