Rebels are to blame for gas attacks? (Syria)

Well, I think you're projecting a rightwing movie on the screen here.

There's no evidence Obama was "locked and loaded." He's cautiously and deliberately moved forward, gathered intelligence and tried to garner support, both from other countries and more importantly Congress, which is appropriate. I call that statesmanship. I call what Bush did stupidity.

Another partisan apologist. The attack was imminent any day, could be on Thursday. You think the war machine works that fast come on head, you know better.

Assad is a SOB, if not a monster. So are half the leaders of the world. That's not the issue we face. Let's stipulate that Assad is a vicious dictator. It doesn't follow that he deployed the chemical weapons, or that the rebels are good guys. Indeed, the rebels have a substantial number of jihadists who would do a lot worse than use chemical weapons if they had a chance. I don't think we should be the ones to give them that chance. Even if there are some genuine democrats mixed in with the rebels (we think)

This is not patriots versus redcoats. It's vicious secular dictator against vicious sectarian jihadists.

I couldn't agree more. I think we just kill'em all. However, that's neither here, nor there. The reality of the situation, is that if we don't make good on our threat, the bad guys will be encouraged to act out even more.

I call what Obama is doing indecision and weakness.

Jihadists and Islamists make up a minority of fighters and organized formations in Syria. The Free Syrian Army remains largely moderate (i.e. non-Islamist) and is commanded and officered primarily by non-Islamist's. The FSA still fields more than 50,000 fighters.

The UN has categorised the FSA as an al Qaida affiliate!

No it does not.

August 12, 2012 - The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) currently arming, funding, and commanding entire brigades of the so-called "Free Syrian Army" (FSA), is designated an Al Qaeda affiliate by the United Nations pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999) and 1989 (2011), in addition to being listed by both the US State Department and the UK Home Office (page 5, .pdf) as a foreign terrorist organization and a proscribed terrorist organization respectively.

The US while supposedly fighting its own war on terror is arming, training and giving material support to terrorists operating within the Syrian borders. As Putin and Assad have repeatedly pointed out (myself as well) the US is interfering with Assad's war on terror!

The Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee

The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) does not command entire brigades of the FSA (that is ludicrous) and is a separate entity from the FSA (obviously). Some fighters from Libya gone to Syria but it is a relatively small number, certainly not enough to field a brigade let alone command one... Also the entire LIFG was de-listed from the United Nations Security Council Committee in 2011. The facts you have cited are fictional. If you google that copy pasta you will see that it only comes from errant blogs and other unsubstantiated sources. This is simply incorrect information.

Security Council 1267 Sanctions Committee Approves Deletion of Eight Entries from Al-Qaida Sanctions List

More evidence that the FSA fights alongside the terrorists in Syria.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and al-Nusra are both affiliated to al-Qaeda. Yet despite this President Obama continues to support the Free Syrian Army (FSA) which openly fights alongside both terrorist factions. Currently, the FSA is also assisting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and al-Nusra in their ethnic cleansing of Kurds. Recently, hundreds of Kurds have been brutally killed by forces being supported by major NATO and Gulf powers. This includes the slaughter of vast numbers of Kurdish children. Therefore, not only is Obama tainting America with its alignment with terrorist and sectarian forces which are cleansing religious minorities like the Alawites, Christians, and the Shia; but now the Obama administration is tainting itself just like the Erdogan government in Turkey with the ethnic cleansing of Kurds in the north of Syria.

As I stated before Barack Hussein couldn't always make the mistake of being on the wrong side every time!

but Monte yer preachin' to the choir here, we know who the bad guys are and the Barry supporters think we are the enemy not al qaeda

In the year since al-Nusra emerged, it has carried out a number of complex and coordinated suicide bombings against high-profile regime targets and built a coherent fighting force through a thorough vetting process. By the admission of Free Syrian Army commanders on the ground, al-Nusra was instrumental in the seizure of the Sheikh Suleiman Military Academy near Aleppo this week. A reporter for Agence France-Presse in the area said many of the fighters "were from other Arab countries and Central Asia."
