'War-weary' Obama says Syria chemical attack requires response

Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

But their not going to strike chemical weapon depots due to humanitarian concerns, they say. Surely you realize this is "regime change", what they say not withstanding.
Well right now he is not going to do an air strike without congressional approval. But what are the costs of ignoring that situation completely?

Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

President Obama avoids what might have been the pretext for a future impeachment vote and shifts responsibility for action onto Congress, God help them. There will be hawkish Republicans and gotta-act-tough-on-foreign-policy Democrats versus isolationist Republicans and pacifist Democrats. This should be interesting. I'm breaking out the popcorn now.

Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

Obama has dumbed down, dismantled and feminized our military so much in the past four years I don't think Obama could put boots on the ground in Syria today.

Obama can't even put a Carrier Strike Group in the Mediterranean Sea because the carrier that's suppose to be the "surge" carrier to be used in an emergency can't deploy because the ships crew haven't been efficiency trained for deployment because instead of training for deployment they have been sitting in the class rooms receiving their mandatory indoctrination in PC sensitivity training.

Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

I think that anybody who uses the term "boots on the ground" needs to be sent to Syria to be gassed. That is an incredibly dehumanizing term. Our military troops are people, human beings.

But that's where the term originated (British - WWII) . . .they call their selves "grunts" and they go to "the ****" as well.

I'm not offended by it - I prefer a president who is hesitant to use our troops as such.

That's why todays Navy is refereed to "Todays PC Navy."

For the past 4 1/2 years the current administration has been redefining the purpose and character of the U.S. military. On more than a few occasions President Obama said his agenda was to change the face of the U.S. military in the name of diversity by using social engineering.

The U.S. military has been politicized just like the old Soviet Union's military was by Joseph Stalin during the 1920's and 30's. You now actually have political officers serving in the U.S. military. They don't call them political officers yet, but that's exactly what they are.

U.S. Navy: enhancing an inclusive environment

Women in combat, teaching kids about STEM, and mid-service sabbaticals are some of the new and never-expected changes within the U.S. Navy

>" Building on commitments to foster a more inclusive work environment as well as opportunities for women, the U.S. Navy is moving full steam ahead with diversity and inclusion initiatives and recruitment and promotion objectives, says Commander Merry-Angela Katson, who heads the Navy office of diversity and inclusion.

Navy's Diversity Working Group Ranked Nationally as Number One

And for the vast majority who are already serving in the military who oppose the military being politicized and being used for liberal social engineering, Obama's Secretary of Defense said "If you don't like it, get out." Can you frickin believe that ? And yesterday President Obama called the U.S. military his military.

Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

Well right now he is not going to do an air strike without congressional approval. But what are the costs of ignoring that situation completely?

It's a lose lose situation.

The Obama administration had it's chance over a year ago but he abandoned the entire Middle East and North Africa with his failed foreign policies and by surrounding himself with second rate people.

The Syrian civil war is actually a religious civil war, Sunni vs. Shiite.

The Iranians are allied with Assad and Al Qeda is allied with the Sunni rebels.

America and the West lose no matter who wins.

Obama could have worked with Putin over a year ago to bring a peaceful end to this religious war but Obama refused to sit at the table.

BTW: Does anyone miss G.W. Bush yet ? When Bush left the White House the Middle East wasn't a complete basket case as it is today and Al Qaeda wasn't on the run all over the Middle East and North Africa. Al Qaeda was pretty much confined to Yaman and the Horn of Africa back in 2008.

Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

Nothing like keeping the focus on fighting and destroying our nations enemies. LOL.

Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

Don't forget, it requires authorization from the security council. Without it, it's illegal action. Regardless of what the warmongers to this thread would like to believe.

You do a wonderful job further highlighting my issues with us being so tied into the UN as its presently constructed.

No disrespect to your opinion, but... "Boots on the ground" is not a demeaning term to those of us that have or are serving their country. It takes a lot to wear those boots. Those boots are earned and are a "badge of honor." Those that do or have worn those boots, are proud to be referred to in that way. Never met anyone that wasn't.

The vessel caught on fire and approximately 90,000 barrels (14,000 m3) of oil leaked into the Gulf of Aden. Although Yemeni officials initially claimed that the explosion was caused by an accident, later investigations found traces of TNT on the damaged ship. 'War-weary' Obama says Syria chemical attack requires response - CNN.com

Thoughts? Questions? Invitations to dinner?

Sort of sounds like the Gulf of Tonkin resolution. Limited action which 99% of congress thought was going to be just one retalitory attack.

Now why is the use of chemical weapons deserves some form of U.S. response. I know Obama wasn't president when the Pathet Lao government and the North Vietnamese used both chemical and biological weapons on the Hmong tribe in Laos trying to wipe them clean off the earth. Then there was Saddams use of chemical weapons on the Iranians during the Iraq/Iran war and we were providing Saddam all sorts of good Intel on what the Iranians were doing.

Oh well. Live goes on until it doesn't.

Oh yeah, plenty of people miss Bush. Haven't you seen the polls saying his approval numbers have risen since he left office? That is because:

a) He's much more likable when he's NOT in power, much more like the goofy uncle who nicknames you "Turd Blossom" and paints self-portaits of himself in the shower, but is essentially harmless, and

b) Most people have the memory of a goldfish. The middle east was ABSOLUTELY worse off the day he left office then it was the day he was sworn in. For one, Iraq and Iran balanced each other out in the region; as long as both were standing their influence in the region was blunted either way. The invasion of Iraq and it's takeover by Shiites allowed it to become a satellite state of Iran, allowing it to reach further into the Arab states. Iraq has allowed shipments of arms from Iran to fly into Syria!! The sectarian war that arose in Iraq under Bush's watch exists to this day, and is becoming a model for sectarian strife elsewhere.

Like Colin Powell said, Bush broke the Pottery Barn rule.

You didn't mention the Al Qaeda attack at Fort Hood.

The Al Qaeda attack at the U.S. military recruiting station in Hope Arkansas.

Lets not forget the underwear bomber. Fortuantly even though the Al Qaeda terrorist was able to ignite the fuse, the kicker charge failed to set off the main charge.

All threee can be linked back to Yaman.

We'll give Obama a complete pass on the Boston Marathon terrorist bombings because they may have been Islamist terrorist they didn't have connections to Al Qaeda.

All of these happened on U.S. soil under Obama's watch.

Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

I have yet to hear any explanation of what vital American interests are at stake in Syria that would warrant an act of war. Radical Islamists vs. Murderous Dictator, both our foes. Seems to me what we should be dropping is bread/humanitarian aid not bombs in countries like Turkey and Jordon where thousands of refugees have fled and are living in tent cities. We seem to have a fairly decent relationship with both those countries. Our relationships would be strengthened by our willingness to help in the burden that thousands of refugees can place on any country and for building relations with a people in that region who most often despise us.
Saving Obama's face is the only "vital" interest here. Period.

Hasan, the FT. HOOD shooter, was not charged with terrorism and to this day there have not yet been any confirmed links that he was actually linked to Al-Qaeda. That's like saying I spoke to Donald Trump and therefore I'm a member of his business organizations.

Re: the terrorist who shot up the recruiting center...I also stand corrected. He was an actual terrorist with actual connections to al-qaeda. Thank goodness he was an incompetent goon.

According to Muhammad's letters, he began his jihad in Little Rock, doing "something" there. He drove to Nashville and threw a Molotov cocktail at the home of an orthodox rabbi, but it bounced off the target. He drove to an Army recruiting center in Florence, Kentucky, because "it was near an interstate and bordered Ohio. Easy to get away", but the center was closed. He returned to Little Rock, where he shot the soldiers at the recruiting station.

The El Al incident was carried out by a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. The same Muslim Brotherhood that Barack Obama has an infatuation for. Obama's has been the best thing to happen to the Muslim Brotherhood since Hitler.

As for Bush being warned by the CIA, how many warnings did Bush receive every morning ? Probably as many as Clinton.

But it was President Clinton who set America's policy on how to deal with Al Qaeda. He said it was a police matter not a national security matter.

Did President Bush spend eight years blaming Clinton's failed terrorist policies ? No.

Do you know why Osama bin Laden decided to attack America on it's own soil and thinking they could get away with it ?

Now if you were underage in 1993 or didn't read the newspapers or were just uninformed, maybe you can be given a pass.

Osma bin Laden explained why he was going to attack America on it's own soil. It had to do not with President Clinton's actions but inactions. Bin Laden looked upon Clinton as being a pantywaist. Bin Laden made the mistake thinking that G.W. Bush was also a pantywaist but Bush was completely the opposite.

Excerpt: Bin Ladens first Fatwa.

>"But your most disgraceful case was in Somalia; where- after vigorous propaganda about the power of the USA and its post cold war leadership of the new world order- you moved tens of thousands of international force, including twenty eight thousands American solders into Somalia. However, when tens of your solders were killed in minor battles and one American Pilot was dragged in the streets of Mogadishu you left the area carrying disappointment, humiliation, defeat and your dead with you. Clinton appeared in front of the whole world threatening and promising revenge , but these threats were merely a preparation for withdrawal. You have been disgraced by Allah and you withdrew; the extent of your impotence and weaknesses became very clear. Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

Of course Obama wasn't going to allow Hasan to be tried for a terrorist attack. It was liberal political correctness that allowed the attack to happen. And also, Barack Obama suffers from "Narcissistic Personality Disorder" (NPD. In layman terms, Obama is a narcissist, that's why instead of admitting that it was a terrorist attack that happened on his watch he claimed it was nothing more than violance in the work place.

But every soldier who was on Fort Hood that day knew it was a terrorist attack. Most Americans know it was a terrorist attack. Even Obama knows it was a terrorist attack. And if Obama wasn't a narcissist, he would have came out on day one and announced it to the American People that it was a terrorist attack. But Obama is an incompetent Cn'C who has no cajones. Just ask Vladimir Putin.

There are exceptions of those who don't believe it was a terrorist attack, those who drink the kool-aid.

Re: "No boots on the ground in Syria," Says Obama

As far as this thread is concerned, President Obama is damned no matter what he does.

The seeting hatred out there is worse in this Nation than it is with our REAL enemies.

Now returning the audience to the thread hi-jackers.

it's kinda true that his opposition is gonna hate whatever he does.. but the flip side of the coin is, his supporters are gonna love whatever he does no matter what.

Oh please. Bush still gets more hate than Obama, let alone during his presidency.

I like your Vegas location. His Dems are split 50-50. I see it connected to the Amash amendment and the NSA. The Nation is war-weary. I believe the President is listening. Hence, the call for a Congressional vote. Therefore, he's not going down alone on this one.
