Shooting enemy soldiers isn't terrorism. Turning on your comrades isn't terrorism. That's not what the word means. The FBI's definition is irrelevant, as this case does not fall under their jurisdiction.

I don't care what a dictionary says. Shooting enemy soldiers in a war doesn't count as terrorism. We're still calling this a war, right?

Because, hey, by your definition I'm pretty sure our soldiers count as terrorists. We were certainly coercing or intimidating Saddam Hussein's regime out of power through violence and threats of violence. Oh, but that's "lawful" because we said it was?

Exchanging email with a terrorist doesn't make you a terrorist. Mowing Osama Bin Laden's lawn doesn't make you a terrorist. Committing an act of terror makes you a terrorist, and shooting soldiers doesn't fit the bill.

You're leaving out several key facts. Facts that have been provided for you by the trial, the media, Hasan himself, and this thread.

Creating a false realty doesn't mean you're right to anybody but yourself.

In what setting? On a military base? That sounds like a military target to me. Like, if France decided they were tired of the surrender jokes and attacked the US, I'd expect military bases to be their targets. What would the difference be?

This is just what he wanted. :roll: Okay, here's the punishment you asked for!

We should have just left him in prison. He was a paraplegic, he wouldn't be too much of a threat in prison. Hopefully it will take years and years and years, and he will suffer with his paraplegia and the bed sores and infections and possibly even amputations that go along with that. Now THAT would be a true punishment. Once you're dead, you're dead. Punishment OVER.

I'm not going to play parrot for you. They've all been presented. If you don't want to accept them that isn't my problem. Nor is it my obligation to change your mind.

This is much more entertaining for me, anyway. It isn't often I get to see total delusion on display.

I'm all for making conditions in prison less "pleasant" for the prisoners. I would actually like to see them working for 8-12 hours per day, instead of sitting around making weapons and planning attacks and riots and all that other trouble they get themselves into. Idle hands are the devil's playground. Maybe after they had to work hard all day, they wouldn't have any pent up energy to spend.

We use fighter jets to blow up insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sometimes they don't have weapons. Explain to me why our Air Force pilots aren't terrorists under your definition. Isn't there a political goal? Isn't there coercion, threats, and violence? Whose definition of "lawful" do we go with when it comes to war? Because I'd suspect the Taliban would describe our actions as unlawful!

If someone is shouting Allah Akbar as he is gunning down innocent people then chances are he is a terrorist. His place of killing or the uniform he is wearing means nothing.
