The topic of civil rights is important to me so I want to post this news story.

LA Times

WASHINGTON -- Fifty years after the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, thousands once again took to the streets of the nation's capital to call for economic and racial equality.

As the crowd made its way down Constitution Avenue, one of the city's main thoroughfares, in sprinkling rain, it was led by veterans of the 1963 march walking arm in arm.

For many of them, the event was a passing of the torch to a new generation to take up the unfinished cause of the civil rights movement--the promise of equality "embedded in the founding of America," as Cheryl LaRoche put it.

The local Washington resident was 17 when she drove down from New York to take part in the original march. Now she was here with her 17-year-old grandson, Jackson Price.

Don't understand why its all entertainers giving speeches. Are these honestly the "best" black leaders we can offer today? Ironic how the only black Senator wasn't invited.

The entertainers are entertaining.

President Obama will close out a day of speakers that will also include former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter; Oprah Winfrey; the Rev. Al Sharpton; Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of President Kennedy and Lynda Johnson Robb, the daughter of President; and Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), the last remaining living speaker from the 1963 march.

You rogue radical Repubs will hate. It is what you do.

You Can'tor even give it a rest for one day.

Rev. MLK Jr, what would you say about your former Republican party today?

What would Lincoln, T. Roosevelt and Eisenhower say?

Are you saying that MLK was a race hustler like Jesse Jacksin?

No but you are! Misspelling Jackson's name; how childish. Can you answer the questions in the post?

That's called a "typo", but of course you're going to assume the worst.
Here's a question: what would MLK think about Sharpton's and Jackson's race pimpin'?

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

It was the worst.

Rev. MLK Jr. would not agree with the premise of "all the names flung around" today.

How impressed would MLK be with the Libbos using tge civil rights movement as a political baseball bat, to do nothing other than beat up their political opponents?

He would most likely be disappointed with the so-called leaders who are followed today...

I suspect he'd be disappointed by the attendance too. Good evening, AP.:2wave:

Are you opposed to using Rev. in front of MLK Jr.'s name? What's that about Louisiana? Libbos----feel better? beat up their political opponents--AWOL since November of 2008?

No, I don't think he'd worry too much about that, but he might be disappointed by the cause. Good evening 2m...

How do you think REVEREND MLK would feel about Margaret Sanger being hailed as a hero by the Libbos?

Great...Another generation of anti white blacks raised in a constant atmosphere of racial jealousy and resentment..
'Unfinished cause"?

Please. No other race has been given as much as negroes.

For over five decades we've "empowered" them, "franchised" them, pampered them, placed them on pedestals as creatures of pity... and for all that spending, pampering and pandering, we have vast urban areas of slums, ghettos, ruins filled with some of the most violent, blood thirsty, savage, feral creatures to ever stride the planet. We've had over 50 years of forced integration. over 50 years of generous social entitlement programs. and over 50 years of excuses.

We elevated the negroes, we've given money to bring them out of poverty, we've passed laws to prevent non-white discrimination, we've advanced them in our schools without them needing to learn, we've given them jobs and home loans they didn't qualify for.

...and they always want more..that is the black legacy.."give us more"..
If this country lasted a thousand more years (and it likely won't last TEN more but anyway...) they would STILL be having marches like this demanding MORE.

It's a scam and people are beginning to see through it.

Sanger as a hero by Libbos--your words--distracting words--thread derailing words--divisive words
How do you think REVEREND MLK would feel about Margaret Sanger being hailed as a hero by the Libbos?
