Syria crisis: UK to put forward UN resolution

If not millions of dead at least whole continents under our control ?
I mean look back in history has any nation ever spent this much on their military
and not used it for conquest? It's time we either crush our enemies
or chill out and let em live in peace. This willy nilly foreign policy is dumb.
We can't even decide to lob some cruise missiles (which will have zero effect)
at some 3rd world tin pot dictator it's down right embarrassing :p

You think a cruise missile is so smart it knows when it blows up to only kill soldiers.

How many civilians are gonna die next to the S300?

What you don't think he will put his values in Civilian Neighborhoods. We will end up killing more than what was gassed in this attack.

He's killed ~80k, targeting civilians.

I know.
it was just to point out how civilians could be used as shield.

There are not many S300s and chem sites. I think we will kill less civilians than 80k.

If there is going to be a picture like Serbia, I also do not see many civilians involved.

However, I'm really curious to see what will go on if S300 respond.

also, just for curiosity since I lack the info ..... as Russian pretend S300 are their best strike defend system, were they ever tested against a real strike??

The S300s will not survive the first-strike. They are primary targets identified by satellite and intel. Should one survive, it will miss a a stealth plane, provide a signature and be obliterated instantaneously.

Hmmmm....Mocking it eh...?

These would be political prisoners, not criminals. Now they’re human shields in John Kerry’s and Barack Obama’s crosshairs.

Embattled Syrian President Bashar Assad is moving prisoners taken by the regime to military sites across the country that could be targeted by U.S. forces

Buses reportedly filled with Syrian prisoners streamed from facilities in Damascus toward the Mezzeh airbase to the south of the city, according to recent reports.

Mezzeh airbase is likely one of the key military targets U.S. military and intelligence officials have tagged for missile strikes in the country.

The move is a possible sign that Assad is planning to use human shields as a way to deter American warships from launching missile strikes against vital military installations in the country.

Now how could Assad know what we would hit? Oh that's right so far the WH has been leaking like a screen door in a hurricane....Gawd! How could this go wrong?

So, you don't think a S-300 can't hit a stealth target (which really isn't stealth, rather have low signatures)? A crappy S-125 Neva took down an F-117.

Nope it's like he said the 300's would all be out of commision in the first strike
betcha we know were each and every last one of them is.
Them boys next door can't wait for them to be gone yanno

You're using an anomaly to predict the future.

Once the fire control radars are either destroyed by the initial cruise missile strike or simply blinded by ECM
You can kill the launchers with anything an F-16 an Apache heck even a drone?
and of course there's alway HARM missiles

But the NYT said a couple of Russian pieces of **** could mean something!

haha

Wouldn't be a hoot if we are actually doing this because the guys next door threatened to take action?
I'm talking about the guys on the Golan

Or is it that the 300's have to go to keep the air space open for strikes into northern Iran?

You're using an anomaly to predict the future.

It wasn't an anomaly, they figured out the F-117 signature by changing radar wave lengths, Russia and China got to study the technology after the fact.. It's one of the reasons the F-117 was retired.

How cool if and when we blow them 300's to smithereens we will be killing the Russian operators of the missiles Oops ;)
You know danged well jonny-jihad isn't' running them things

Yeah.....it's just a matter of time. The only thing Obama is deciding is when to do the drive by. Not if he will. That was already decided.

That's a blatant acknowledgment that the US/UK have no respect for the UN and are prepared to act belligerent, and there appears to be glee in your words over the prospect.

Why would anyone respect an incompetent quasi governmental club like the UN. We should have pulled out of it 20 years ago.

See, there are others that agree with you, but if you understand the purpose of the UN (I realize there's many purposes but to our subject) which is to prevent another world war, and bring nations with conflicts together to work them out. If there are no diplomatic solutions and use of force is considered by a party to be the only remedy then they present their case. If they have a strong case it will be recognized, if not you will have a party or more veto it. That's not a case of the UN Body failing to act, it's a case of it functioning as designed. The idea is to prevent states from attacking other states without due process.

And another point is that like it or not, we are members, so we must follow the rules. If not we must resign membership. That hasn't happened so, we must follow the rules, IF that is we have any concern for legitimacy and credibility.
