Navy ready to launch first strike on Syria

You're missing the point, the Left was totally against Iraq.....right after they voted for it. Now's their chance to show us how it's done. How it's done is obvious exactly the way Bush would have done it, making the Left the biggest hypocites in the galaxy.

You can't compare Iraq to Syria...
We bombed the hell out of Iraq and indirectly caused the deaths of up to 1 million men, women, and children after we completely dismantled their system of law.
We also lost thousands of American lives in the process.

There are a multitude of reasons not to attack Syria. One of which is that we have no proof that the government did the chemical attack and not the rebels as the Russians so adamantly seem to suggest.
Any attack on Syria is extremely foolish and will degrade my confidence in President Obama.
But to compare a short term missile attack vs a long term occupation with the blood of 1 million on our hands to a Nation that did nothing to us... that is ludicrous.

there is no left or right when it comes to the foreign politics

Maybe in your world, but in the US there is.......now.

It just dawned on me what you guys mean when you say Obama (or anyone that is not far right) is antiAmerican. You really mean he is antiRight Wing. And, since right wingers arent really Americans anymore, now they are republicans, you guys just say he is AntiAmerican. I get it.

No... I mean anti-American, and someone who wants to "fundamentally change America" (his words)... means he deeply dislikes the country as founded. His actions prove so.

Obama and a massive swath of his party are anti-American.

You didn't get my point at all.

But...but...Obama's missiles are going to kill innocent civilians!

And Bush 1 and 2 and Reagan all did that too.. Hell Reagan invaded a country without congressional approval.. boo hoo.

Yeah? So? Oh, wait, it's ok when The One does it. My bad.

Reagan didn't need to get congressional approval. It's called, THE WAR POWERS ACT.

Congressional approval?

Can't wait to see the cities filled with protesters waving their Obama War Monger banners... just as they did with Clinton and The Balkans. Oh! Right. That didn't happen... instead we had floods of protesters protesting to have America enter a conflict that was in incompetent Europe's backyard and wasn't in the US's national interest.

Why not try UN sanctions for 12-years? Set up a no-fly zone? Send in UN Peacekeepers... Or waving a wieldy finger at Basher? Why doesn't Obama go there and talk to Basher without preconditions? Why jump into a war, straight into bombing Saddam's old buddy and innocent civilians when there are so many stereotypical Lib options on the table?

Where is Michael Moore bad mouthing Obama and showing film of happy Syrian kids flying kites in Basher's Eden... just as he had propagandized for Saddam?

Where is our ever shrinking president? Is he AWOL just like Benghazi?

Many good points! And, to add to that, where are all the flag waving war dogs that were backing Bush when he started his war with lies and manipulations? Why are they not on the Obama war band wagon as well? Why, all of a sudden, are they "anti-war?" I think we all know the answer to that.

War is war no matter what color the president is. One would think America would have learned it's lesson by now. I am sorely disappointed in Obama. He turned out to be not much better than G.W. Bush, IMO. When America, the people who elected him to represent them, is so against any action in Syria, how could Obama only hear the cries of the war dogs? This has the makings of a start to a global war. Syria is not worth it. They burn American flags over there. Remember?

Don't strain yourself carrying water for The One.

Demonstrating who used chemical weapons, or if chemical weapons were even used at all is going to be a little difficult, since the type of sarin gas which is alleged to have been used dissipates quickly, and chances are that the UN inspectors got there too late to find evidence, since the evidence, if there is any, has deteriorated and is no more. That leaves us with other evidence, namely the victims, but it is going to be impossible to determine who gassed them, the government or the rebels.

There is yet another aspect to this case. The rebels consist largely of Islamic militants, and even some of whats left of al-Queda. Do we help them by bringing down the government of Syria, as bad as it is? I think the Russians are correct in supporting the government, and the Russians have more to lose than America does, since Syria is much closer to home for them.

So here is where I stand: Let's do nothing and hope that both sides destroy each other.

One would think America would have learned their lesson about starting wars using bad or fabricated intel. I guess not. :(

Democratic centrists and Republicans authorized the war in Iraq. The handful of leftists in congress and the senate opposed it, including my representative. Hundreds of thousands of leftists protested the war before and after it started.

That could be the chemical weapons Bush went to war over. Damn, finally found them.

Never mind you left out a few important facts. But hey, what are a few important facts to a righty such as yourself? You just make them up as you go.

Congressional approval?
Technically the president doesnt need to have congressional approval to launch a military strike unless that military strike continues for more than 60 days he just has to notify congress. However saying that i think this resolution needs to be repealed. But technically POTUS does not need congressional approval unless the action continues up to 60 days or more.

Post those facts please?

That's a possibility, since Hussein wouldn't let the weapons inspectors do their jobs.

Yeah? So? Oh, wait, it's ok when The One does it. My bad.

It is never okay to shoot missiles at civilians. For the record I am against any intervention at this point... and if you have not noticed... your GOP friends are mostly for an attack..

Reagan didn't need to get congressional approval. It's called, THE WAR POWERS ACT.

So he got that when he aided the Contras right?

I think any leader who would use chemical
weapons on civilians intentionally deserves a cruise missle suppository.

Like Sadaam Hussein's attack on the Kurds ?

Well...there is a huge difference. Namely, IF Obama and the US strike Syria, it will have been without a huge propoganda campaign like we saw where the Bush administration tried to link Iraq over and over and over to 911. Obama has also not labled himself "A War President", like GWB did immediately after taking office.

BTW...I don't support a military strike on Syria based on what I know at this time. I think it would be premature.

For my good dead for the day, I am going to teach you a very complex, hard to understand truth: different things are different. Expecting the same reaction to different events is pretty silly.
Well, your good deed of the day was about as powerful as a fart in a hurricane.

What you FAILED to do is recognize how hypocritical you and your Leftists are.

Why were you leftists all hot to have the US enter The Balkans conflict when it had zero to do with our national security and it was in Europe's backyard? Why not let those brilliant Europeans handle it. They're so chit hot and intellectual about all things societal, why didn't we let them show us how it's done?

Where were you folks when Saddam was killing a hundred people per day on average?
Where were you folks when Saddam, who used WMD played games with UN Inspecteurs?
Where were you folks when he kicked out the UN Inspecteurs?
Where were you folks?

Ahhhh... right....

...You folks defaulted to the UN... having sanctions put in place so it could all continue... for over a decade... and those sanctions quickly resulted in the death of 500,000 Iraqi kids and 500,000 dead adults. BUT HEY... Frau Albright stated it was... "worth the price." "... more children than died in Hiroshima..."

A million people die swiftly, and nobody was liberated, and wouldn't be under Felonious Bill Clinton.

Are you folks going to scream if Obama starting firing bombs into Syria... without going to Congress first.
Are you folks going to scream when these bombs kill innocent civilians?

What did Syria ever do to America? (To repeat a Liberal inanity).

And... where did I say each situation isn't different? I didn't. It was your lame attempt to deflect.

So much stupid, so little time. I will just make one brief comment that is going to make your rant look really really really stupid...I am a Gulf War vet.

Thanks for your service, but WTF does that have to do with the hypocrisy from the Left, and my questions about whether we will see Leftists demand he go to Congress... if not will they scream, rant and call him a war monger?

Will we see protests in the streets?

Will we hear about the cost of such actions?

Will we hear about how it will piss off Muslims?

Will we hear about the leadership vacuum and who will fill it?

Try answering the questions. You... like most leftists have a talent for deflection... as your coy little bit of chit regarding your "good deed of the day" post, and the above post illustrate.
