Tea Party Favorite Cruz releases birth certificate

Name another candidate that was raised in a foreign country that they would have to do this with because it was not clear where he was born?

It was clear where he was born. You literally had proof in a court of law of his place of birth, publicly certified as genuine by the appropriate state officials. And it still didn't satisfy the tinfoil crowd.

He has reached the pinnacle of his career. He might as well announce now.

yeah, but he doesn't know that he has reached his pinnacle ... he thinks he is just getting started ... but, hey, who would've predicted that Dubya would be prez one day ...
I wonder if this is true. Anyone know?

Beneath the photo from the REAGAN DIARIES is an actual quote that Reagan wrote about George "W" in his diaries, recently edited by author Doug Brinkley and published by Harper Collins.

"A moment I've been dreading. George brought his n'er-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida ; the one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work."

If a family is on vacation to another country and has a child, do you believe that their child should not be a natural born American?

Yes. I also believe that they should be an American citizen automatically just like Cruz.

Pretty funny, Linc.

I must give credit. My students in Northern Vermont gave me that one last semester. After having to drive through Mass. since 1977 to visit Maine with Dad, I had to agree.

sorry if you're having trouble understanding the discussion, and it is definitely a bridge too far to explain it to you in simpler terms ....
Oh the discussion, such as it is, is easy enough to follow. The problem is that it is meaningless. Whether or not a candidate is too far right, too far left or an extreme centrist all means very little, particularly when it lacks any factual support.

What about discussing the issues themselves? Is it really that difficult?

What are you talking about? The only people that responded to all the talk about Romney being a horrible capitalist was people that weren't going to vote for him anyway. Pretty much no one else gave a flying **** if he was vulture capitalist or not.

Except for those that lost their jobs when "Bain came to town". Thank you Newt. And then there's the stealing of their private pension funds which became "profit". All very legal in a corrupt capitalist venture begun during Reagan. Uncle Sam had to bail there, just like underpaid workers now.

So he was born in Canada and his father helped put Castro in power? Good luck with that election campaign.

I'm more interested in what you make of that ...

It's not me who is using polls so i don't have to make anything of it. I've said that these polls mean nothing to anyone apart from the OP and I asked him what he thought of them. But since you jumped in, what do you think about the Kenyan claims? Do you think they are lying?

If his father really did help Fidel Castro he should get a lot of votes from the Democrats.

No. Nobody said every time you ask any person for a birth certificate it's racist. That's stupid, and nobody said it. Asking to see Obama's birth certificate, seeing that certificate and then deciding its fake, then launching into years worth of conspiracy theories, then seeing the OTHER birth certificate you demanded after the first one and declaring THAT to be fake because why not... yes, motivated by racism. You'll notice there's no similar conspiracy theories about any white candidates or presidents.

So it's not racist if you ask to see it once but it is racist if you ask to see it more than once, or declare it to be a fake? How is race involved in this?

Has there ever been any doubt as to where any White candidates were born?

What you are saying is clearly untrue. Bain Capital created jobs, much more so than his Democratic opponent. Tally of Job Creation at Bain Under Romney Proves Vexing - WSJ.com

If you want a high paid union job just move to Detroit.

You have "students"? You are allowed to teach?

Yes. I also believe that they should be an American citizen automatically just like Cruz.

So you would be of the position that, although born an American citizen, that person should be barred from running for President? A moot point, since this has been settled already.

I read recently that his father was invlved in the Cuban revoultion and helped Castro get into power but fell out of favour after the war was won.

Clear where he was born? LOL. Not according to Obama in 1991 and with what he said in the senate. How much stock does he own in Reynolds Wrap?

DP is probably the worst cheap-shot forum for trashing teachers, as well as being honest. Something you fright-wingers can't fathom.

Yes, 33 + 4 years now retired and still preparing the youth of America in Chemistry and Physics. And oh so proud of their accomplishments.

You should be.
Unfortunately, many of our fellow posters only take pride in and gain a sense of accomplishment by being an internet yayhoo.
That's something......I guess.

I'm not misrepresenting the poll. 42% were "positive" the rest had varying degrees of doubt. It's there in black and white no matter how badly you want it to say otherwise.

LOL...okie dokie artichokie......42% + 29% the it is most likely is not the number that your birthers would like to portray it as.....only and 17% (mostly birther Republicans) had any real doubt. Spin it however you like, the facts speak for themselves no matter how badly you want to say otherwise.

Asking to see someone's Birth Certificate is "racist"? How about passports? Is that racist as well?

Are you saying that people born outside the United States are somehow inferior?

How many other Presidential candidates were ever asked by the birther crowd to show their birth certificates? The facts speak for themselves.

LOL. You still don't comment about the "birther" Obama. Why? He started it all. I realize the facts don't fit well with your spin but you keep leaving him out of the "birther" crowd. He's not Republican but somewhere along the line he had real doubt about where he was born or he was misleading for another reason. To keep you numbers accurate, you have to place Obama in there. Unless you just don't care about accuracy.

Do you believe Detroit pensioneers should lose their pensions? Should private pensioneers have lost theirs because of Bain-types? Did Uncle Sam bail out the privates on your dime? Is only one party responsible for the public pension mess in this Country?

False.

Why are you spreading lies?

Listen, a lot of people frankly did not know if he was born in this country or not (which does not disquailify him). Most people were not going to access court records to find out, hence the questions.

But enough about that lightweight, this is about Ted Cruz. Obviously, no question that he is eligible to serve as President. And, unlike our president, he is quite accomplished in his career.

If I understand correctly, Cruz holds dual citizenship but may have to renounce his Canadian citizenship if he plans to run for higher office. What's the big deal? He is an American citizen.

So is Arnold Schwarzenegger, who also is a naturalized citizen with eyes on the presidency but is constitutionally ineligible because he was not born in the USA and his parents were not citizens. If Cruz was born in Canada and his parents were not natural-born American citizens, the same constitutional ineligibility would apply to him.
