First of all, are you trying to funny? Secondly, what oversight? Third and last, "oversight" by who?

The audit, while leaked, shows that there are protocols in place and that this isn't just a rogue outfit..

If I was running a government agency and I wanted to violate the crap out of the civil rights of a whole mess of people, I would:

1) Conceal the violations among a flood of legitimate activity
2) Audit my own activity
3) Discover the impropriety
4) Propose and implement corrective action
5) Find a new angle, rinse and repeat

Sound familiar? That's what great about internal audits.

I think it's safe to say that they have a pretty large folder of information on anyone who posts on political message boards.

We're probably not doing ourselves any favors by commenting on this here.

Lol that's right.. The fist thing logged is your IP address; 5 clicks and the boogie man is inside your "house of information" LMFAOL

Uhhh...of course it does? It's called accidental collection. When someone really tries to spy on someone from their personal life, they get fired and sometimes jailed. I don't understand what the issue is. Are you scared or something?

It's called my privacy, and I likes it. That aside, the Federal government is unforgiving in its prosecution of individual mistakes, I fail to see why they should be held to a different standard.

Why do you think the people that make those mistakes aren't fired or even do jail time?

Because the program itself keeps making the news, but there is no word of firings or criminal charges.

Aside from that, there likely won't be because then the government would need to admit that serious wrong was done in order to fire or file -- and their whole approach has been to downplay what happened below the level of actual wrongdoing.

For the same reason Nancy Pelosi stepped up to halt the impeachment of Dubya--because the entire federal government, all 3 branches, is rotten to the core.

A corrupt government elected by infallible citizens LMFAOL

So no reason, other than conspiracies?

I know you're really out there OWO, but how on earth does historical fact become a conspiracy in your tortured reasoning?

Not surprising at all that the N.S.A. is overstepping its boundaries, but sadly, it will cause some here, who blindly defend and swallow everything the N.S.A. does, to have exploding heads because their worldview is rapidly changing.

No way. The government never does anything wrong, they'll just define all their actions as legal then claim any criticism puts us all in more danger.
