Obama-mask clown gets lifetime Missouri fair ban. Just, or too harsh? - CSMonitor.com

I think they dropped a ton of bricks on his head for no good reason. In other words far, far too harsh.

Translation actually is that Grant said it wasn't political speech, just a clown. If it's just a clown, why the ruckus?

Exactly. That question should be asked of the PC police who were 'offended' and then decided on a life time ban.

Take a look at who started the thread. Then get back to me about Leftists making a big stink.

Do you think it was 'moderates' or 'rightists' who were offended and put this lifetime ban into effect?

It's always a good idea to bring the antics of these left wing loons to the public's attention.

Yeah exactly ..... "whatever" because that's what it is with you cats...

Pssst. Specklebang isn't actually a cat.

I am a Braveheart poodle, however.

It's the Cons who are making this a big deal. I heard nothing about it until I saw the Fox Nation here making a big stink about what happened.

Whatever the reasoning behind his ban, I could not tell you, however as far as I can see, there was no nationwide outcry from "left wing loons."

It is a big deal! A rodeo clown puts on an Obama mask, which has been done many times previous, and is banned for life? Do you genuinely not understand the significance of this?

Then that's a shame, and says a great deal about the US media.

Wow! Despite watching the news and reading this forum you still don't know why he was banned?? And of course there would not be an outcry from the leftist loons. Obama is their guy and they are only too pleased, it seems, to have anyone who mocks him banned from their job for life.

It was a Missouri state fair who fired a guy for going out on his own to make a highly inappropriate joke. I would have fired him too.

What is 'highly inappropriate" about making a joke about the US President??

The fair teceives public funds. They can't fite thr guy.

This clown brought politics where they didn't belong, he made his employers uncomfortable, so they fired him. The only reason it's news is because the extreme right will find anything to bitch and moan about if it gives them a chance to take a meaningless jab at the left. The extreme left did the exact same thing when Bush was president, proving that both parties are supported by stupid dildos.

This clown brought politics where they didn't belong....

Politics don't belong in a state fair? Since when/who decides that?

From my POV, it's not politics brought that made the issue hairy, but how/what actions specifically.

Still, a LIFETIME ban?
"Lifetime" bans are something that should be reserved for really heinous actions, not just making an employer uncomfortable once / IMO at least when it comes to publicly funded events there should be limits [not imposed by the government per-se] on how such things are issued. [but then the issue becomes HOW to do that]

George Carlin got paid off and cancelled the first time he got fired from the Frontier Hotel - for saying "ass" - the year before he got fired for saying ****. And that wasn't even at a publicly funded place or fair, but at a private casino.

You only find it offensive because it was Obama being mocked - you would certainly be singing a different tune if it was a conservative being mocked (which happens all the time without any repercussions).

Freedom of speech and expression is a civil liberty and that freedom is being denied to this individual rodeo clown.

It's really that ****ing simple.

If it matters he was fired and banned...

This clown has an epic lawsuit ahead of him and I hope he takes the taxpayers of Missouri for as much as possible..

Was he under contract?

He would have had to been under contract (as a private contractor) with a promoter or entertainment company....

I highly doubt there was anything in his contract that said "thou shalt not mock Obama" considering the guy is a ****ing clown and gets paid to mock and entertain.

Of course no one would have a problem if the guy put on a Sarah Palin mask or Bush mask -- hell he could have mocked Rosanne Barr -- SO WHAT MAKES OBAMA ANY BETTER FROM THE AFOREMENTIONED?

The best part about this situation is that the crowed absolutely loved it and its those that weren't even present that are making a big deal about this.....

Who the **** do they think they are?

I hope this guy sues the ever-loving bull**** out of the sate of Missouri...

What politics? Since when is making fun of a President political? It has been done by comedians for centuries!
he made his employers uncomfortable, so they fired him.

He made them "uncomfortable"? Is that what they said? If so they certainly don't appear to be the rough, tough guys generally associated with rodeos.
The only reason it's news is because the extreme right will find anything to bitch and moan about if it gives them a chance to take a meaningless jab at the left.
"The extreme right"? Everyone who is not a loony leftists is laughing at these jerks.

The extreme left did the exact same thing when Bush was president, proving that both parties are supported by stupid dildos.

You don't have to be 'extreme' to make fun of politicians. It happens hundreds of times a day. You may even have noticed it on these boards.

I said it was wrong. You claimed there was a vast left wing outcry for him to be fired. There is no evidence of that as far as I can tell.

Then that's a shame, and says a great deal about the US media.

Yes, they should jump on every story that a bunch of partisans think is a big huge deal.

The outcry from the left is not what got the guy banned. That was my point which you missed entirely. Seems to be a lot of that going around. Furthermore, he was not banned from his job for life, he was banned from the Fair (which I do think is excessive). He is free to be a rodeo clown anywhere else, and when this fair is over and the rodeo company moves on to the next fair, he's free to be a clown there if the company desires it.

The Minnesota Rodeo Cowboy Association spoke out against him too.

False outrage...it's what the right does best....it comes from their holy messengers on AM Radio and FNC. They parrot their role models.

You know....I never even HEARD of this incident other than on Message Boards. Of course, I watch Network News(ABC) and don't watch or listen to AM Radio, FNC, MSNBC.....or view/read extremist crap on the internet, unless it's part of a thread that I'm participating in.

I too said the ban was over the top....but the crazies don't want to listen to practical people....they just want to continue being outraged over nothing.

If i said it give the quote. Why do leftists hate to use the quote system??
Yes, they should jump on every story that a bunch of partisans think is a big huge deal.
What partisans? People who believe comedians should be able to mock politicians? Who can possibly disagree with that?
The outcry from the left is not what got the guy banned.

The PC crowd certainly appear to be leftists. Would you agree?

Wearing an Obama mask is no big deal, firing the worker and banning him for life is. And because this news is not in the US MSM, which is normal, that doesn't mean it is not being discussed elsewhere. In fact it has gone viral and makes the American people look like ******s.BBC News - Missouri State Fair rodeo clown banned for Obama mask

I refuse to play stupid semantic games. This isn't the first go around with you.

What partisans? People who believe comedians should be able to mock politicians? Who can possibly disagree with that?

I don't disagree with that. Why do righties spend so much time fighting strawmen? Is it really that much easier?

The PC crowd certainly appear to be leftists. Would you agree?

Why does it matter? You call everything you don't like "leftist."

I did not say that he should be fired or banned from anything. Just once in your life, forget about strawmen and read.

I think the Obama-mask clown should run for the GOP's nominee for president. He's more qualified than most GOP candidates. And his profession makes him a true conservative.
