Obama-mask clown gets lifetime Missouri fair ban. Just, or too harsh?[W:395]

Well, yes...I never meant that 0bama picked up a phone and called. However, I do think intimidation was in order. It's still a silencing of free speech. For those who call him a kook, or crazy...fine. Call him that, but don't punish someone just because he doesn't think like you do.

Even if it didn't happen, one could believe it had happened. The Obama Klan has proven themselves to be extremely heavy handed/threatening with veteran Washington journalists (from their own propaganda mill). Having the machinery deal with some cowpokes in MO... that's like stealing ice cream from a baby for this lot.

I'll consider it just when the filmmakers who made the movie about assassinating Bush are banned from Hollywood.

That will be shortly after Hell freezes over, no doubt.
First comparison that came to mind... It's utterly amazing this has become a national story, but it is useful for the Obama Klan and their journ-O-lists.

It is now so, that many are fearful to do something of this sort for fear their lives could be tragically impacted. And for what? Poking a little fun at Obama.

You can't blame Obama directly, but you can blame him and his propagandists for the climate that created the heated atmosphere and overblown reactions from the press and from government officials.

Being fired and blackballed is what you can expect in a Capitalist society that places high value on protecting individual property rights. Employment isn't an entitlement, and if you piss off your boss(es), you get fired. He isn't being put in the stockade, he isn't getting thirty lashes, they aren't cutting his head off, or putting him up against a wall. He just can't work for those particular people anymore. He made a choice, and he chose poorly.

This is nothing more than a consequence of his actions, and as a result, he has to find a new employer, making this a non-issue.
Let's say NYC had a rodeo and it was filled with Libs, and they had a Bush 43 rodeo clown... do you think there would have been an issue? You think the story would have made national front page news?

This is nuts and overblown... and you know what? Obama could have solved this in 2 seconds. He's stuck his head into issues not related to him because of race... this would have been a good time for him to take that telepromteur of his and read... Hey! Cool it everyone. It was done in good fun, I am the president of the United States, and we expect this type of good humor. No harm... and certainly no foul.

But... this heavy handed action by the left has other desired effects I believe Obama likes.

If one of the entertainers in the middle of the state show openly suggested that Bush be essentially murdered, yes it would be national front page news.

Raging partisan like you are leaving that out because you are dishonestly trying to make it seems like they were just making some innocent fun at Obama. I don't expect anything you say these days to be even remotely honest, but it's a new level of dishonesty, even for you.

There is a major difference between poking fun at the President and suggesting that the President should be killed.

Can you point to a single event between 2000 and 2008, where at a local state sponsored fair, an entertainer in front of a big crowd openly suggested that Bush should be killed to the audience? Try. Use Google.

Well, not a fair, but there was a movie...oh, and a national liberal radio host on the no longer in business "air America" host.

I wonder how many people have seen the video from the point where the "Obama dummy" is set out to the point where the bull actually comes out? If you haven't you really don't know the full story here. If you have and you're standing behind the "freedom of speech/it was a joke" defense, then you're really not being honest about what actually took place.

This was not a joke, folks. This was someone who clearly is anti-Obama who thought he was being funny by setting what appeared to be a dummy-figure wearing an Obama mask propped up by a broomstick (conveniently positioned right up his) in the rodeo arena. The announcer introduces the dummy as "Obama" and goes on to ask the crowd if they'd like to see Obama get run down by the bull. What's funny about that?

It would've been "funny" if the rodeo clown wearing the mask had suddenly come to life and started running around the arena flipping his ears because as we all know and can agree on President Obama does have some big ears. He's even made fun of them himself. It would've been "funny" if the Obama rodeo clown wore an "ObamaCare bullseye" on his butt while teasing the bull to chase him. That atleast would have been in keeping with what rodeo clowns do. But instead what you had was the announcer encouraging the crowd to want to see the figurative President Obama hurt by being run down by a bull.

That's not funny. It's not even close to exercising free speech. This act was in very poor taste and it doesn't take a Liberal or Conservative/Democrat or Republican to see that. In any case, for those who haven't seen an extended version of the video, you can view it from this website.

No, it was clearly free speech. How many times was George Bush hanged, burned in effigy, etc., during his Presidency, I wonder? Probably dozens of times at various protests. Nobody interpreted this as a threat against the President, not even Bush's supporters that I know of. But here we have Obama's supporters going crazy, trampling free speech under foot in a desperate attempt to salvage some dignity for the big Zero. The smell of fear and desperation is unmistakable. You guys ought to be ashamed that you are willing to give up our civil rights for that Clown.

This brouhaha over the rodeo clown is a manifestation of Obama's Cult of Personality, and you all ought to SNAP OUT OF IT.

What? You've already forgotten Assassination Chic?

An entire book chapter with numerous examples explored the popular genre of “Kill Bush” literature, talk radio rhetoric, and art on the Left devoted to fantasies about murdering President Bush and Republicans.

Liberals didn't think it was such a big deal at the time.

Actually, by brining Game of Thrones into it, the brouhaha is just about the persecution complex on the right. Everything must be wonderful in this country considering all the energy you're putting into a clown. That's not even a put down - the man is an ACTUAL clown.

Do I think he should have gotten a "lifetime ban," no. Do I think they were within their rights to say they don't want political commentary on their dime? Yes. Is it worth 20 pages here? No. Am I surprised that there's a whole bunch of idiots butthurt over this? I shouldn't be.

There was an incident when a dummy wearing a mask of President Bush was attacked and stomped and the audience laughed and applauded. No fuss was made of it. It went unnoticed.

It is truly shameful how PC has effected the American people. They are a lot poorer for it.

Since when is making fun of a president by someone dressed in a clown costume 'political commentary"?

The guy's a clown!!! He is not Charles Krauthammer or Chris Mathews. He is a clown!!

So if it's just that, just a clown and doesn't matter, why do we need 211 pages about a clown getting fired.

Someone just got fired at a McDonald's in Ohio. Quick, start a thread!

So, Obama supporters raise a big national stink over the rodeo clown, trample free speech rights, and commit outrageous injustices, and when conservatives and others respond to that they're accused of being paranoid and spending too much time on trivia.

This from the crowd who regard a cross in a jar of urine as protected by free speech rights.

Translation: I don't like how this thread makes Obama supporters look, so just shut up.

You don't seem to realize that this is a very big deal. When someone is fired for making fun of a President in a comic situation, everyone should care. The fact that it is your guy who is being mocked is not the point.

Perhaps you are being deliberately obtuse, I don't know, but the point was never that someone was fired, it was why this entertainer was banned for life..

To be fair, are we sure Cris Matthews isn't a clown?

Lefties cornered by their own hypocrisy yet again.

Better not mimick or speak against our sitting czar.

This is eerily similar to the whole Islam/drawing-the-likeness-of-Mohammad thing.

I think you just nailed it!

Translation actually is that Grant said it wasn't political speech, just a clown. If it's just a clown, why the ruckus?

Take a look at who started the thread. Then get back to me about Leftists making a big stink.

The guy shouldn't have been banned. If you read what I said, you'd already know I thought that.

Granted, it's easier to rail against "horrible Leftists" when you don't actually have to read what they say.
