Obama-mask clown gets lifetime Missouri fair ban. Just, or too harsh?[W:395]

I think the fact that so many people are attacking others in this thread is proof positive that many Americans have absolutely lost the ability to laugh at themselves, period. All this over a clown act. I thought clowns were supposed to be idiotic and risque in such settings. People need to get over themselves.

You were either a member at USPOL or Ebaums....

Nope...neither one....this is my third membership to a political MB. My first was USMB, then JPP....now here. Before that it was just a Steelers MB.

If you don't even know the composition of our congress then why should I take your opinion seriously? - or anyone that is just as ignorant as you are for that matter?

Meh, the fair can do whatever it likes in this case imho.

As to your post, I have absolutely no reason why you included the picture of the GWB head from Game of Thrones which is an entirely seperate situation.

In one case a person intentionally put on an Obama mask as part of his "clown" costume with the direct intent of making it perfectly clear he was referencing Obama to the point of having the PA announcer ask the crowd if they wanted to see Obama "ran down by a Bull".

In the other case crew members on a TV set grabbed a bunch of dummy heads that were on hand, threw wigs on them, to use them as props and purposefully turned the face away along with giving it long hair to not make it clear that it was a model of the former President and was publicly stated that it was done for absolutely no political reason and in no way was highlighted by those doing it.

Yes, TOTALLY similar enough to warrant using that picture alone to demonstrate your thoughts on this issue.

Apparently they did a spoof of George HW Bush at a rodeo and totally destroyed the mask, and no one got banned and no outrage.

Just for the confused..

Reps 435

House 100

Every state has 2 Senators.

Can we get beyond simple civics?

First rule of performance: know your audience. ;)

Opponent makes a mistake....take advantage....have fun with it.

And that's rather low class and rather disrespectful to the office imho as well; but similarly I'd feel the rodeo in question had the right to take whatever action they did or didn't want to take.

Still doesn't change the fact that the reference to Bush's head in game of thrones was head scratchingly irrelevant.

By all accounts, the "audience" of the Obama incident had no issue with the performance. It was after it became more public knowledge that others began having the problem.

The comment was only half serious, but those who ,got upset after it became public would also be the audience. I think it was an overreaction btw.

You really doubt that the Senate has 435 members?

You don't know government and their position in government.

Hey Nick...the Senate has 100...the house has 435.....welcome to the world of HUMAN mistakes.

You have your chambers mixed up. The house has 435. The Senate has 100.

As many people have pointed out, all other presidents have been lampooned in this way.

So why has this turned into such a big deal?

In my opinion the answer is that it's because Obama has become so impotent, which leads his supporters to make responses to criticisms that are exaggerated and ... well ... absurd. Even light hearted jabs like this rodeo clown thing are intolerable to these people because they know how weak their position has become.

I wonder how many people have seen the video from the point where the "Obama dummy" is set out to the point where the bull actually comes out? If you haven't you really don't know the full story here. If you have and you're standing behind the "freedom of speech/it was a joke" defense, then you're really not being honest about what actually took place.

This was not a joke, folks. This was someone who clearly is anti-Obama who thought he was being funny by setting what appeared to be a dummy-figure wearing an Obama mask propped up by a broomstick (conveniently positioned right up his) in the rodeo arena. The announcer introduces the dummy as "Obama" and goes on to ask the crowd if they'd like to see Obama get run down by the bull. What's funny about that?

It would've been "funny" if the rodeo clown wearing the mask had suddenly come to life and started running around the arena flipping his ears because as we all know and can agree on President Obama does have some big ears. He's even made fun of them himself. It would've been "funny" if the Obama rodeo clown wore an "ObamaCare bullseye" on his butt while teasing the bull to chase him. That atleast would have been in keeping with what rodeo clowns do. But instead what you had was the announcer encouraging the crowd to want to see the figurative President Obama hurt by being run down by a bull.

That's not funny. It's not even close to exercising free speech. This act was in very poor taste and it doesn't take a Liberal or Conservative/Democrat or Republican to see that. In any case, for those who haven't seen an extended version of the video, you can view it from this website.

Okay, so, in your world, what chamber do representatives sit in? After all, you just said that the House has 100 members and that each state has 2 senators. So apparently you (incorrectly) think that the House is made of Senators.

So where do the 435 Representatives sit? The Senate? ><

Senators sit in the House and Representatives sit in the Senate?

It's hilarious how you proceeded to insult someone on their (alleged) lack of knowledge on civics.
